At one point, the company ran some contest where you could be in one of the episodes. If I happened to be in one, I'd so want to be the bad guy. I'm still at Hodgson/Kassian being pretty close to a wash, although he's still playing (6G, 19Pis in 65 games) so I guess Vancouver won that trade. That being said, Kassian and a 5th turned into Prust for Vancouver, who is in the AHL this year. Wash, unless that 5th does something. Roy for Ott was an OK trade. Ott brought some swagger to the Sabres, and Roy hasn't done much since as far as I know. You could argue Grigorenko may have been BPA (at least based on scouting). He was projected to go higher and fell to Buffalo. I'm not sure you could say Girgensons wasn't BPA too; maybe not 5 years later, but at the time they weren't bad picks.

They're not much better, so I'm not sure you'd want that. Keith Jones is intolerable and Steve Coates is a slight downgrade to Rob Ray in analysis and homerism.

I agree. Worth mentioning Vanek was YUGE that year; 42 goals, 84 points, and + a lot. Edmonton took a shot at getting one of the statistically best players "available" that off-season.

Buffalo Sabres Stats‏ @SabresStats Robin Lehner has faced 8 skaters in the shootout this season and all 8 have scored. That's a .000 save%. (3/4/2017) I can't remember if that includes the last shootout, but his % didn't get any better. I'll admit it's not a pressing problem for the Sabres right now, but eventually it will be. Maybe, MAYBE he'd be adequate behind a good D but he's lost his shine and there's no reason to be "up" on the guy. Even worse, if the coaching staff decides that the Sabres have to play responsible, safe, D to protect Lehner rather than pushing the offense, that's a huge negative in my eyes. I want the Sabres outscoring opponents 5-3, not praying they can keep Lehner safe and eek out 2-1 wins. That's boring hockey and I'm sick of it.
