  1. If I were LV, depending on how the drafts and trades go I'd consider it on a one or maybe two year deal to teach the kids.
  2. I think I'm out too, but I still have its lat/lon as a favorite place in my GPS.
  3. Wow, that Ruutu-Housely goal at 1:10 in the video. Holy cow. HCWH (head coach wowie housely), of course.
  4. You're probably right, if I didn't have my daughter jumping on me at 8am (which I didn't really mind, RosePie is adorbs) and in the office at 10AM. I'm too old for this stuff.
  5. Red: I have absolutely no memory of Housley on that team; that's the one that beat the Sabres in the semi-finals, right? The Kerry Fraiser - Hasek stuff?
  6. Up until 4AM patching systems last night. Something has to change, that's far too long.
  7. I stopped after one or two days. I just could not listen to 90 minutes of those chuckleheads.
  8. Since we're in this wookie-like trade zone: would you rather Samson + #8 for Kane or Ovechkin? Go!
  9. LV could flip him, I suppose, but you make a good point.
  10. I don't, but he hasn't shown a worry of spending money in the past. Firing GMTM is actually a prime example, he's now paying two NHL GM salaries where he could have just told GMTM: this is your budget, exceed it at your own peril. $1.3M is the difference between signing Matt Ellis and Marcus Foligno to be your fourth liner. Which would you prefer?
  11. Pegula has shown little evidence of that. Maybe someday he'll tighten the purse strings, but so far he hasn't. And, signing vets in 2018 and 2019 will be a little harder with 1.3M in dead space.
  12. I concurr. In a couple years, that 1.3M dead cap space is the difference between paying a UFA league minimum vs. $2M+. Looking at the UFA list, $2M buys you a player I've actually heard of (or Brian Elliot/Chad Johnson level backup GT), where the league minimum guys are nobodies.
  13. I think everyone is arguing about the bolded part, really. Finding physical, 20+ goal forwards in FA is almost as hard as (I might say harder than) finding good FA defensemen, and when you do you're going to pay for it. If he's not going to sign, so be it, but you better work with him to get a contract signed if you can first.
  14. Agreed. Put him in the AHL, trade with 50% retained, whatever, just don't want to see cap hit after this season.
  15. Hey any tips on couch to 100-mile one-day bike ride in a month? I have a friend that's leading a Hudson River tour in July. BTW: the carry a toddler in one arm up a really steep trail workout is awesome!
  16. It wouldn't surprise me if they finish at 25th +- 2 spots. They'll have a roster of NHL players (which is better than some teams), but they're all going to be players that are 2nd-3rd line and 2nd pair D at best. OK, but who is going to score goals and who will match up against top lines? Depends, right? Some players would be fine with the question, reject it, and go back to work.
  17. Sunk cost. You shouldn't take spent assets into the equation, it's simply how much is he worth now and how replaceable is he. I'm on the "he's fine but replaceable" train.
  18. Crickets from 38 on this. ;)
  19. You have to draw the line somewhere otherwise you have the even worse situation where it becomes another judgement call that can be argued about (the NHL will OF COURSE allow goals from the Pens that are a full second after the whistle where one that's 0.9 seconds after will be disallowed if it's Buffalo).
  20. I'm confused by the process for both. Please correct: Major Junior Player: - Draft at age 18 and 19. - Team holds rights for 2 years - Team can make a qualifying offer and retain rights further. Teams almost always do if the player shows promise. - The end game is the team holds the players rights until 27 or so by making qualifying offers unless the team allows the player to become UFA. College: - Draft at age 18 or 19. - Team holds rights until the player graduates from College (22-ish) - Player can't sign any contracts or whatnot due to the NCAA rules while playing in college. My take: post-college, there should be a qualifying offer option from the NHL team to retain the players for another two years, similar to the RFA process for CHL Juniors.
  21. Maybe for Crosby's first game? The claim still seems questionable.
  22. I'm stuck between Flogging Molly's "Worst Day Since Yesterday". and The Slackers "The Same Everyday". I'm not sure this is fair, but GODD gets KMDFM's "Megalomaniac" in my head. And it seems trite, but is Chz gets Jay-Z "Big Pimpin'", of course.
