There is evolutionary pressure to be afraid of what different than you; different means "not you" and "not you" isn't going to help you survive as they have the other "not youse" to look out for. It is one of those things that parents need to steer their kids out of; much like "don't beat someone up and steal their food".

Interesting, and makes sense. I'm not a big fan of FB, they all kinda taste like the lager (and I'm not a lager guy).
-
I'm looking forward to using "melon farmer" on someone. :)

The next one will be tougher: calling men various feminine things in a disparaging manner. I'll admit, "hit 'em with your purse Housley" makes me chuckle, but we're telling a boys that the worse thing to be is a woman. And telling women that only failed men act like them. I'm mad at myself whenever I read it.

All I know is after drinking several (admittedly several years ago), it occurred to the group I was with that they all tasted the same with slight variations. Some of their more recent IPAs even taste like lager to me, which makes me wonder if they don't mix Standard Saranac Beer #1 with something else 50/50 to make the varieties. I'd imagine some of the beers are distinct recipes, but some really do taste like lager with flavoring.
-
Saranac more or less brews the same beer and then adds flavor to it to make the varieties.

I think the monopoly guy or Wimpy from popeye, but I'd have to look. Oh Natty Boh.

Let's test this out: Smurfing Brett Hull. That smurf Koslov Kerry Fraiser royally smurfed us that game. Yep, I dig it.
-
Forget liger, I really like the idea of bringing smurf back. Only a smurfing liger would invent a new word when there's a perfectly good word that already exists.

Or someone new laid down the law about it.

I think: if you're drafted out of CHL and refuse to sign with your drafting team in two years, I think you end up back in the draft. Repeat that for another two years, and you can't go back into the draft at 22-ish, so you're UFA? Same effect I guess (UFA at 22-ish) but I don't know if I've heard of it happening. Unless you count Lindros' ultimatum or the Lemiuex in Winnipeg's system that said he'd not sign with Buffalo.

Well, other than not particularly liking the style, no. :)

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
MattPie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Things I'm sad I didn't finish on Netflix: - MST3K, both new and old ones - Rogue One again (I did watch it when it showed up a few weeks ago) - Various documentaries -
Now that I think of it, the zipper on my jacket stopped working awhile back (it loves to split randomly in the middle). There are still snaps to close the jacket and that's "good enough" for my use; When some water eventually makes it through it just gets the front of my heavy leather jacket wet. That may be less than ideal if my work clothes were underneath. Then again, odds are you're not going to stress-test the jacket at 70+ MPH for hours either. :)

I guess you can either see this as "cleaning out players that don't fit of don't want to be there regardless of the impact this season" if you generous. If not, it's almost looking like "get rid of assets now with an eye towards drafts in the future"; you may recognize this from the Sabres, 2013-15.
-
I was wondering about that too. If nothing else, it would be a rather large out-of-pocket expense for a college kid as I'm not sure if/how the NCAA would allow reimbursements for travel expenses.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch

I did that for both DVDs and Bluray, although it's been a really long time since I bought either. FWIW, depending on your computer/tv setup, an externa USBl Bluray drive is nice because you can watch TV the computer/HDMI to the TV, and you can rip DVDs/Bluray to files so you can watch without using the media. We canceled Netflix yesterday, although not necessarily permanently. We figure that all those DVDs/Blurays I just spent time ripping and putting into Plex will serve our modest TV needs for a few months. It does feel kinda weird, kinda like when I cut cable back in 2011. Different though, since youtube and Amazon Prime VIdeo fills most of the gap. -
I have a set of Froggs Toggs that I have used on the motorcycle for years (Road Toad model). They have some warts on the bike with water pooling up in my lap, but for walking they'd be awesome. They work at 70+ MPH, so they should handle the weather. Couple them with a waterproof hat and you should be golden. https://www.froggtoggs.com/ (I've seen them at Dick's and maybe Walmart in the past. I have this hat (it was on sale), and it's been good for a few downpours: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/68383?feat=596-GN1&page=l-l-bean-waterproof-trekking-hat&csp=f

My only guess is worrying less about being "jacked", as the kids call it, and working more on quickness and stamina.

October: What to expect when you're expecting HOCKEY
MattPie replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Should I start the lost-point countdown on game 1? :) -
I could use one right now, but I hate taking them as the next hour or three of the day is shot.
-
So A: that is awesome. and B: how would the name plate on the sweater work? R. O'Reilly wouldn't work, nor would using a full name. Middle initial, I guess? O'Reilly ying and OReilly yang? Even more important, how you do hockey nicknames in this case? The mind boggles.

April in Buffalo, it'll be snowing.
-
Oddly, none of these really conjure up strong associations for me; I have to think about them. Enroth, Steve Christie, Pysyk, Rhett Warrener, and, er, Lydman I guess.

Not particularly ordered: Moxy Fruvous (something like 22 shows! My picture is in the liner notes! drove all over the Northeast to see!) Gogol Bordello Flogging Molly Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band (thanks for typing these in so I can cut'n'paste, d4rk!) KMFDM Metallica And One (maybe, I just happen to be listening to them right now, Ich bin der pimmelmann) Asteroids Galaxy Tour (I listen a lot lately) Bouncing Souls Chemical Brothers All Girl Summer Fun Band
