  1. Cars. Yes it's a kids movie and old, but it's one of my favorite movies all-time.
  2. He played Minnesota High School hockey last year and tore it up (64 points in 25 games (!!!)) and USHL (30 points in 24 games), but that's lesser competition than Canadian Juniors or NCAA, so scouts were wary that he was a big fish in small pond.
  3. On average, maybe, but that's only with Moulson dragging Reinhart down. You're going to have to be pretty persuasive to convince me that either of those two players that couldn't crack the team coming out of camp are better than a guy with 40 goals and 80+ points in his first two years in the league. I might even go so far as to say Samson will have more points and goals than those two combined this year.
  4. It's deceptive that the North Atlantic current brings a lot of heat north so the climate is much warmer than other parts of the globe at that latitude. Doug had a wolf run with him for awhile on the way up, that's the closest thing I can think of. :) The last 300-400 miles of the trip are this terrible dirt road where there's no services other than a little town halfway. Definitely risky stuff. He wrote it up for the BMW Club magazine, if you're interested. He's nuts. http://www.mac-pac.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/haul_road.pdf I like this line, "So my theme for the trip was kept simple: ride to Prudhoe Bay, have a swim, and ride home to Philadelphia."
  5. London (UK) for me. Seriously, London's lattitude is in the neighborhood of Edmonton. I have a few friends that rode motorcycles to Prudhoe Bay, AK (the furthest point North you can drive/ride in North America), one of them swam in the Arctic Ocean. I'll never be that worthy.
  6. :( Eastern Daylight time, EDT, if we're being pedantic.
  7. Frankly, I'm betting that's what they're already supposed to be doing. Lindy used to "activate the D", where one D comes down the wall, and a forward moves out the point to cover the spot. I'd be shocked in Housley's system advocates both D moving down the wall at both times. What we're seeing is miscommunication and/or hesitance where the D comes down, but the forward is still grinding down low (habits!) and you have a 2-on-1 the other way.
  8. I've been interested in it since learning about the physics and math done in the animation, but I didn't get around to it when I had netflix. Boo! https://phys.org/news/2017-01-mathematicians-ocean-life-disney-moana.html
  9. No no, that is entirely commensurate with the value he adds to the Leafs and frankly, seems like a good deal. The Leafs totally won't be in cap trouble as the cap will just go up. do it Lou!
  10. Both teams sucked from 1957 through 1995. Did I win?
  11. Late start games are the one perk of working almost every night until midnight/1AM, I can pop the game on and keep my normal schedule.
  12. Yeah, but we're trending towards a 27 point season! Maybe the wildcard spot will be 55 points this year so we only need to win one more point per three games to make it!
  13. There's no way the reaction would be the same if it were January and the team played two stinkers in a row. The Sabres aren't going to finish 0-55-27. Kane isn't going to pot 109 goals and Pominville isn't going to have 55. Jack may end up around 82 points though!
  14. I've been reading it on Kindle; it's one of the free books if you subscribe to Amazon Prime. His approach to things is somewhat like mine (without the brilliance), I tend to be more intuitive than methodical, which works most of the time but burns me a lot too.
  15. "Surely you're joking, Mr. Feynman". awesome book, although his attitude towards women is a little jarring, if period-correct. There's a nice chapter about how he gave weekly lectures in Buffalo for a few months at what's now Calspan, and became a regular at a bar down on Chippewa called "The Alibi Bar". Nice write-up about the chapter and the bar: http://www.pigeonroost.net/richard-feynman-and-the-alibi-room/
  16. It's not gilded, it's safe.
  17. Same here, even though I have a copy. * white-breasted North American vulture *
  18. I thought that was beer!
  19. Someone needs to teach Beauleiu the bare necessities.
  20. Tough crowd! He's averaging 1 PPG. :)
  21. How this thread works: Last year coming out of the All-star break, the Sabres had 60 points and 22 games remaining. Working on assumption that 93 points is roughly where the playoff bubble sits at the end of the season, the Sabres needed 33 of 44 available points to have a reasonable shot at the playoffs. Starting out the year, 164 available - 94 points (I'm moving the bubble up a point) == 70 points that can be lost before making the playoffs becomes rather unlikely. I wasn't really going to update it all season, but why not. So we started at 70, they've lost 3 so far this season (pending today's outcome), so they're at 67.
  22. The Sabres D has got to tie up the forwards' heads in the crease.
  23. I don't think so, those reports came out last season, before he was moved to 3C. Maybe he had a bad attitude about something else, but I don't think this is it.
