6-0 against the Appalachian Community Colleges, and .500 or better against the ranked teams. :) Frankly, I'm not interesting in any nickname we'd come up with based on the last 15-20 years.

That doesn't hurt. I'm pretty sure the tailgating party atmosphere didn't carry over to UB Football when I went there (one winning season, 20-35 overall), so my guess is it only really applies to the "good" teams.
-
I'm not surprised. Let's face it, you get to go watch UGA beat up on teams like UB for half the season and go at least .500 for the rest. I think the atmosphere around the NFL teams is different when you're the Pats and not the Lions.

Its Ground Hog Day all over again, Yotes, Oilers, Sabres

He played the 9 games, and was ineffective at center. He was full-time in the NHL on RW for the next two years other than a stretch or two when there were centers injured that made room for him. He's good on the wing. This year is probably the longest stretch he's been at center in the NHL, so I'm OK with a bit of wait and see. -
He just needed a change of scenery! :)

Going even deeper! (0:53 if you're impatient)

I'm not sure how to take that. You probably thought I was either 60, 25, or 9 based on my posts; only one of those outcomes is positive. :)

FWIW, I'm 41 and yelling at me is a quick way to push me to not give a smurf as to what you want done. If you can't make your point without yelling you don't have a point.

That's really awesome, Josie.

I love this line of thought. I'm not sure I buy it, but I do love it.

To be honest, if I were here only to bitch, I just wouldn't be here. Embracing negativity isn't good for your health, man.

I don't know for sure, but I bet you can't separate cap and real dollar %. If the Sabres retain 50% of the salary, I bet they retain 50% of the cap hit too.

Anyone still holding out hope for the playoffs this year?

6 game streak gets the Sabres to 94 point-pace. That's already daunting -
6 is a good call. 6 in a row gets them back to a 94-point pace. I think I'm going to have to add "how many wins straight to get to 94 point pace" to the lost point countdown when I update it.

For whatever reason, I'm really into Japanese tea lately, in addition to my daily cold matcha habit. I did have some fruity herbal tea last night, Pure Blend (a local company) Namastea; I do love a good pun. Today's is the giant box of green tea you get from from Costco, which is made by Ito En. I'm running out of loose tea at home, so I need to make a trips to Wegs.

Sencha-matcha tea. Hey, it's another workday. Oh, I had some disappointing baked ziti leftovers for lunch. I'm not sure if it's just that all the baked ziti I've have includes sausage, or my local pizza joint is skimping, but rigatoni, bland sauces, and cheese just isn't that good.

MUST. SOMETHING. :worthy:

That's <smug-mode> "THE Ohio State". </smug-mode>

Just in time for the outdoor game against the Sea of Tranquility Rage (one of the Original 6 Moon teams).

Head Hot Disco Coach Rube Goldberg Devotee Dan Byslma.

Long term vs. short term success, I guess. If the coach/GM feels that the way to win in the NHL is to play one way and that means several fewer wins this season but as guys learn or are replaced the team will be truly good, I can live with it. Particularly with young players. Let's say Risto hasn't hit a wall, but looks bad this year because he's trying to unlearn everything that's happened in the last 3-4 years. I'd rather HHDCRGDDB played a system that stresses possession and not the one that'd win 5 extra games last season.

Genmaicha tea. Hey, it's a workday.

I agree. Plus, if the names of WNY NHL players that peters out at about 15 means there aren't that many, really.

The math is looking harder and harder to overcome. Unless they go on a tear and win a bunch of games in a row just to get back to bubble pace, they're toast. -
I wonder how much money we're talking about here, really. To pull at the heart-strings, if we took the money the military is paying sports to do on-field/court/ice advertising, how many homeless vets could we house? It looks like it was $7M over 3 years, so if we say $20k per person (equivalent to a $10/hr job), that's 113 people that could be helped. A drop in the bucket, other than to those people, I guess.
