Why does the off-season always bring on the worst of the petty bickering?

I’m assuming Stempniak is listed as West Seneca, but I’ll throw the name out there for the hell of it.

I found this link that goes through opening day rosters from last season. It’s very goalie heavy, but there are some decent names in there. But anyway, we have a good number of Amerk fans here and the ECHL is a source of players for them.

On top of all those injuries last year, I think people really underestimate the impact watching one of your teammates die on the field had on the team.

Vegas’ numbers are inflated by only playing in that era. I wonder how much closer that gap to Montreal would be if you somehow adjusted for it.

I just don’t like looking at turnover from one opener to the next during the off-season. It starts happening within days so I hope people don’t view it as a “here’s what we did this summer”. Then there’s the guys on that opening roster who are only there due to injuries. And the new guys the following year who have been I. The system for years. I just don’t know exactly what picture is painted by this.

If it's not Perreault, he had to be one of the last handful.

And only two of those guys didn't play at all for the team last year and three of the departed were already gone mid-season. So it's a bit misleading.

They should have to pay you at the same interest rate they charge. I'd abuse the hell out of that. My wife is constantly playing this game. My personal favorite is when they "accidentally" cancel the prescription, forcing her to scramble last second and go to the local CVS with no choice but to pay that jacked up price.

It's not the answer, but I did hear an interesting interview with Trottier a day or two ago on XM.

I do think they’ll put Johnson in a position where he can earn a mid-season call up. I’m slightly intrigued there. And can they add any other Johnsons that played D at Minnesota just to confuse me even more?

He does have a say in his contract situation though.

I don’t think they’re done, so I don’t know how to answer that question right now. And the cap stuff wasn’t sabre-specific, at least not this year. I would be curious to see just how many teams do carry the full 23 the majority of the time. There’s now way Toronto was with the cap gymnastics they’re constantly playing. I’d also imagine there’s a difference from east/west on teams that do.
