  1. I still don't know where you got this "purchase his contract" thing from. They're free to sign him at any point and it voids out the AHL deal. There's no purchasing necessary. Colorado just did it this week. But regardless, rewarding a guy with very limited playing time so far would be a very strange move. That won't help anyone but Mersch.
  2. He doesn’t have a contract.
  3. Maybe I’m getting my revolving door of 2000s flyers goalies mixed up, but I would have guessed he was younger than 52.
  4. So wait, you’re saying they’ll make up the 1 point that they are currently out of that last slot? That’s just crazy talk. They need to do it soon, but there’s still plenty of time to right this ship. Just look how things have changed for Pittsburgh with their first winning streak.
  5. The past is done. It's a right now thing.
  6. I’ll add to your comments the fact that Comrie has played a grand total of 3 games so far this year, a rounded up total of 147 minutes. I’m not really sure how anyone is going to make much of a conclusion based on that. And that completely ignores the possibility that he may in fact be made out of glass.
  7. Look at the entire league right now. It's full of teams hovering around mediocrity. I feel like this situation is far less unique than people realize.
  8. With the recent events in the hockey world, perhaps don’t kick towards someone with your skate blade, MacAvoy.
  9. "Arrested on the suspicion of manslaughter"? That's some curious wording, but I have no idea how their system works. Does that automatically equate to him being charged?
  10. And the fans during that timeline sure did love Jeremy Jacobs. Old and cheap.
  11. I guess I'm not really aware of exactly how the lacrosse rule works. So if a loose ball goes back across center, the offense can't touch it? I'd be a little worried how that would translate over to the smaller surface of play and only 6 total skaters on the ice. But then again, we already have these spots during the normal course of a game where a team essentially retreats in order to make a change. How often do you see the defenseman just sitting behind his own net while everyone changes? I'm not sure why we're fussing over 5 minutes of bonus hockey. I enjoy most of those that I see. Yeah, it's going to get lopsided sometimes, that's life. It happens during regulation too.
  12. Any penalty makes me worry about adding in more stoppages in play. I want less whistles. I also worry about any change where an errant pass could somehow lead to a penalty. Expanding the offensive zone back to the red line after entry was my initial thought until I saw the part about wanting to lessen the circling back stuff. I feel like it would happen just as much with that expanded zone. We're right back to preventing the offensive team from cycling back even further, requiring a whistle or penalty. I think they're stuck with what they have right now. And is it really all that bad? The five minutes are up in the blink of an eye. I saw this after posting. Yep, my thoughts exactly. Anything they do is just going to snowball into some new problem bigger than the last.
  13. I how he turns back and whines about a flop immediately after spearing the one guy in the groin.
  14. What change would they make to prevent this type of cycling though? Anything I can think of is just going to make it more clunky and will lead to unnecessary whistles.
  15. I wish this new Napoleon movie was a Bill and Ted spinoff.
  16. I hope Quinn has grown as much as a player as Peterka has. Just imagine two second year guys playing like this. Man that injury sucks.
  17. Does a team care all that much when a 3rd pair d-man requests a trade? I mean, of course they do, but it’s not exactly the type of player where a trade request sends shockwaves through the league.
  18. When I first moved here to NC, I was walking through a mall and a memorabilia store had a framed picture of St Louis Gretzky hanging front and center of their store. It wasn’t signed or anything, just a framed picture. What a strange thing to see prominently on display in 2014.
  19. A lot can change in 8 years. I don’t know how much weight the thoughts of 18 year old McDavid have at this point.
  20. People like to mention Gretzky. Here’s Wayne on an expiring contract (granted he was 35): 1996-Feb-27 Traded from Los Angeles Kings to St. Louis Blues for Patrice Tardif, Craig Johnson, Roman Vopat, round 5 pick in the 1996 draft (Peter Hogan) and round 1 pick in the 1997 draft (Matt Zultek)
  21. But I liked it when I was younger.
  22. Bryson is staying healthy.
  23. It has to start with either Tage or Dahlin. Anything short of that is living in Wookiee town. Another major part of why it would be very different than anything mentioned in here is that we are living in a cap world with contract limits. You can’t just throw 18 bodies at Edmonton and only get McDavid in return.
  24. Yeah, not random, but a definite frankenstein line.
  25. That has to be the most randomly assembled line this team has thrown out there in a while.
