It's different if they had any success? That sentence applies to just about everyone involved in the discussion; Toronto, the Isles, and Tavares.

Is she using the severed junk for that second act (or would that be the 2nd through 8001st act?)? That seems like it could be an extra slap in the face to you.
-
Exactly. I'd say it's pretty obvious that she did in fact read her own work.

It's a bit of uncharted territory with Eichel. He's pretty much always been one of the young guys on any team. It'll be interesting to see how he grows into that veteran leadership role.

I had to look that one up. Flutie wound up going in the 11th round, so I can only assume those are the same people who take Peterman in the first round of their fantasy draft.

It happened while I was sitting in a random class and then I didn't find out until I was waiting in line for lunch at the dining hall. Someone in front of me was freaking out because we were in a building in Boston with the word "Towers" in the name. That came off as really odd to me, but I knew something was up. I didn't really figure it out until I got back to my dorm and turned on the tv. I had one class later that day, which was probably the only one in the entire school that wasn't canceled. The prof started with some horrible talk about how this was no big deal. I was slamming my head on my desk wondering why he would try to say something like that knowing that a good portion of the university was from NYC/NJ and there pretty much had to be connections to the disaster right there inside that room. The guy was completely clueless. On a side note, right before that class, I ran into someone from my high school (2 years older) who I had no idea went their as well. We caught up for a bit, but then I never ran into him again after that (huge school).

I think she would have been best to drop it after that though. Maybe there's something to the sexist claims, but just once I'd love to see someone step up, admit they screwed up, and take their lumps. Pointing fingers after the fact is always going to get mixed responses from the audience. I think far more would wind up on her side if she simply said "hey, I screwed up". That's the kind of grace I want to see in these cases where both people are wrong (you know, just like pretty much every other situation we ever see). Maybe she did in fact say that at some point, but that's not what gets the coverage. So if she did, I'll give her a thumbs up for that.

How did this name option not wind up being used in that old thread where we renamed a bunch of users (Weave --> We've, TrueBluePHD --> TrueBlueGED)?

So are they just re-printing stuff done for TSN (AP-style) or will they actually be original pieces? I hope they come up with a better name.

Now just imagine if it's Zhitnik at the point. Once his shot takes off the face of a teammate, it's even more likely to face an odd man rush.

That's the classic designation for someone who is going to quietly head off for greener pastures.

How long until Ken Holland is out of a job and Yzerman is back home in Detroit?

I consider this to be proof.

Now I know this one might be viewed as crazy, but men's and women's tennis are in fact different. Saying that they're officiated differently is a bit of a broad statement, but doesn't it stand to reason that if the games are different, the officiating will vary as well? This is one specific example where things probably should be called the same way in both fields, but I can picture there being several other scenarios that would be different. Basically, the idea that the games are the same seems incredibly naive to me. That said, I'm kind of surprised that they use the same set of officials for both. I'd imagine that you can create a bit more consistency if you have a separate set of officials for each field. The sexist claim disappears quickly if the same person doesn't call both.

I'm guessing it's the same guy. Both usernames were created within the last couple weeks and he's claiming to do exactly what is being done here.

I just saw this thread on TSW. Read the 12th post.

A lifetime of free comps at the MGM buffet.

It's interesting that you call the racquet smash call BS (is it really spelled that way? I may just start calling it a tennis stick instead). Withe all of the coverage I've heard on this story, your comment is the first time I've heard anyone take issue with that one. But anyway, I'm the guy who wants an automatic flag thrown the second any football player lobbies the refs for a penalty (so yeah, WRs). So I typically don't have much sympathy for people complaining to refs/umps. As I say it though, I realize that tennis is a bit of a different animal since it's an individual sport. All I know is that I'm glad PC principal hasn't show up to label this as something completely different.

I did see the shirt change thing. Do they have a rule about changing that on the court as opposed to on the bench? Were you watching live? I feel like that has to be more to this than is being reported. Were they disagreeing before it or were there any questionable calls? Either way, I have a hard time finding much sympathy for players yelling at refs. It never looks good. I wish she'd admit she screwed up rather than try to take it to the next step. You're not fighting for women's rights here, Serena. You lost your temper at the wrong time, don't try to spin it into something other than what it really was.

The mother-in-law is supposed to fly in friday, but the hurricane is supposed to hit land early friday morning. So there's proof right there that not everything about hurricanes is bad.

Highest winning percentage of all time, yet they've never won the cup. I miss the days when that was us.

Are they being treated differently simply because of this one instance or are there others out there? I don't watch, but this is the first one to get big attention and it seems to be getting blown out of proportion. The focus is going to fall on the official, but both people could have definitely done more to avoid the blow up. At the end of the day, it's lost tempers in the middle of a lopsided tennis match. I could understand the attention if it was a close match, but that's not what this was. And it all goes back to my original thought. If coaching really is such a big issue, throw them up in a box or something where they can't be seen. It's so easy to avoid. I guess they could put some middle man out there to pass along messages, but it would get far more difficult.

I feel sorry for that kid. She dominantly wins her first major but people are only talking about Serena. But anyway, if they don't allow coaching, why don't they have a special seating area for the coaches where they can't be seen? It would save us from the patriot-esque excuse of "yeah I was coaching, but everyone does it".

So apparently my house might get a little weather test this upcoming weekend...

I chose to mow my lawn in humid low 90s instead of taking advantage of the NFL ticket free preview. I made the right choice.
