  1. I'd take that over the current practice of "he was mean to me once, so I'll never vote for him".
  2. Hopefully it finally puts the "you can't be unanimous" stupidity to a rest. But yes, I kind of chuckled a bit that it was a closer who finally broke through on that one.
  3. Does any HoF actually restrict their votes to just players and front office types? Grudges are going to exist there too, but I think it would lead to much more palatable results.
  4. The other day I didn't realize that when you run out of regular rifle ammo, it automatically switches to explosive ammo. I wasn't expecting that gator to blow up.
  5. I really wanted to check out that body after I took care of them, but I wound up being wanted and had to get away before I could check it out. I don't know if there was anything more I could do, but I would have at least tried to shoot out the rope. My most recent encounter was with a KKK ceremony in the woods. That one was pretty hilarious.
  6. Those guys are funny. Come running at me with a knife while I'm on horseback? Bullet to the face.
  7. I was watching the news last night. When they got to sports, the reporter did a long intro for Rivera, making a huge deal out of how he was the first person to ever be voted in unanimously. When they cut back to the lead anchor, his immediate comment was "that's really rare, usually a few people don't vote for a player. Where's the banging your head against the wall emoji when you need it?
  8. Sam has always been doing it, but it's gotten a bit over the top in the last couple years. Winter lager is gone at the start of January, even though that's pretty much the heart of winter. I'm not so sure you can get Oktoberfest in October.
  9. You don't take on a guy with 3-4 years left on a contract (I forget the exact number) if you aren't planning on him being around for more than two months. They full expected him to be a part of this team for multiple seasons. Getting out from his deal was obviously not a part of any plan.
  10. I'd love to see a plan that actually works with zero deviations.
  11. The Pronger trade also brought in more than just that pick and the pick used for Eberle. I'm too lazy to see where those branches go. But anyway, that second round pick is pretty complicated. It bounced around a bit in a series of exchanges.
  12. If someone were to sit in the room and watch me play RDR2, they'd be very worried for my future. I was working on some hunting missions that had me walking circles around a pond and shooting every single duck or bird I saw. One particular spot wound up with a pile of about 15 birds.
  13. Now you just need to find something to put in the toothbrush slots. What would go well with the beer? And on a side note, I hate that Sam has their spring beers out already. They always jump the gun on changing those over. That and the spring pack has Sam 76 in it. Isn't that out all year? That's 50% of the spring pack that you already get whenever you want.
  14. I did the same two weeks ago. Speeds are through the roof now. Worth every penny
  15. Some of these trades? Was there something other than the Bailey move?
  16. But it does give you the opportunity to follow it up with the first game. Might be worthwhile. That one was pretty good.
  17. These are the kind of things that drive me crazy. You're black, but if you act a certain way or grow up in a certain place, you're not actually black. We just had the conversation yesterday about how stereotypes are bad, but then this line of thought is still so prevalent. It's a never ending circle of stupidity.
  18. I haven't been spoiled at all, but having played the first game, it seems pretty clear what has to happen to most of these people.
  19. Saved $1.25 million in cap space. Maybe they've got more planned.
  20. Wasn't there just talk the other day that Edmonton was looking at adding forwards? This one would seem to get in the way of that. I realize that it doesn't happen in a vaccuum and they can make other moves, but there's only so much you can do within a month's time.
  21. Is Leon still getting larger?
  22. I'm speaking far more generally than you are. If we are talking specifically about Gilbert, fine. It sounds like he took things too far. I'm fine with that assessment, although I'm always a bit hesitant to put too much weight into stories like this one until we've had time to hear enough. Us the thread readers haven't had that opportunity, but obvious PSE has been looking into it longer than we have. But more generally, this idea that it's always about power and privilege is way too broad for me. But now I'm kind of scratching my head a bit. Can I try to look more generally but then say we're being too general? My head might just blow up now. This is another thing that people do way too much. Let's stop changing the situation and deal with what actually happened. What if Gilbert was black or hispanic, what if he was a woman... Well guess what, he's not.
  23. This is fun. Let's make up a term that can be defined as anything we want it to be. That way we can never be wrong! This whole thing is the equivalent of the "because I said so" response. Sure does accomplish a lot.
  24. Give him a break, he's Canadian, so obviously he's a bit slow.
  25. I'd also call that an over-generalization. I think a big problem I run into when stories like this come up is that there isn't really a standardized definition of what harassment is. What's harassment to one person isn't to the other. My example? Yeah, that one's obviously extreme for the sake of making the point. But there will be countless cases out there where it's far more gray. It's not always just privilege or power, often it's ignorance. And before anyone tries to use this as a defense of Gilbert, I'd hope it's obvious at this point that the conversation has moved beyond the specific case. Oh, and by the way, your other comment about this thread being a disaster, I don't see it at all. Discussion on disagreements are a good thing. The one sentence jabs might not add much, but there's something to gain from all of this.
