It is kind of amusing though to picture the team going with only a combination of three goalies with zero AHL experience. To suggest that those guys are the Amerks future is to completely ignore the process they've been going through to rebuild that organization. I suppose it's nice that Cincinnati is winning, but it has very little to do with the Sabre organization as a whole. There are two people on that team who have contracts with the Sabres. Some might be on AHL contracts, but probably over half of those guys are signed by the ECHL team.

I was surprised when I actually saw that picture. The talking heads played it up like the team was shunning Lebron. From the picture, it's very clear that he chose to sit off on his own. Whatever the reason was, it doesn't immediately point to "the team hates/is sick of him" angle that was played up for a day or two.

Instead of focusing on people who left, I'd much rather figure out how to get rid of everyone else.

This lead me down a little worm hole. Not that I think he's a candidate, but I'm amazed that there's only one american goalies in the HoF, and it's someone that I'm sure most have never heard of. I'm also surprised by how few americans have made it in at any position. I realize they have a very small portion of full history of the game, but still, a bit surprised by the numbers. It'll be interesting to see how much that might change over the next 20 years or so. There's also going to be a big european invasion soon.

I'm sure it's different from building to building, but I'm still hard wired to look dead center on the scoreboard. The score and clock was the centerpiece of scoreboard for an eternity, but then those giant TV screens changed everything. If I went to more than one game a year, I'm sure I would have gotten past this a long time ago.

As crazy as it sounds, I kind of miss that era of jumbotrons. The stuff they have today, I have no idea where to look for the clock. I always revert back to the classic setup of score and clock at the top, before realizing that it's now on the ribbon at the bottom. Even if it's only a fraction of a second that my eyes are off the game, it's still annoying.

If you can spend an assload of money on medical expenses, it sure does help with that tax return. Of course, that's if you ignore the actual money you spend there and the need for said medical expenses.

Everything's trending upward in terms of point production this year. I'd be curious to see how his numbers compare to the rest of the league relative to where they were in the past. Just as a quick example, Kucherov leads the league right now and his numbers project out to 126 on the year. McDavid lead the league last year with 106. My guess without digging too deeply is that he's performing better relative to the league than he did here at the end of his stay, but some of that boost in production is definitely due to the higher leaguewide scoring. On a side note, an important thing to keep in mind is that O'Reilly's best point season here was his first. He dropped and then leveled off the next two years. Could we see that in St. Louis as well, a quick start out of the gate and then leveling off?

The growth of a certain 21 year old also has a lot to do with the so called winning of the trade.

Maybe it is different by airline, but on most of my flights, it's pretty clear that zone 1/2/3/whatever corresponds to front/middle/back. They'll have their first class and their premiere or whatever they want to call it, but after that, it reverts to boarding front first. My zone has definitely changed based on seat location.

I'd love to hear an explanation for how this method could possibly be better. The only reason I can think up for why they do it is so that overhead bin space doesn't fill up too quickly, but that happens no matter what they do. No matter what method they use, the last people to board will get screwed. As someone who flies maybe twice a year, I can verify everything you stated in the first paragraph. It takes about 30 seconds of exposure to people before you realize just how stupid they really are. Letting the frequent fliers and first class go first is fine. They're such a small percentage of the total flight.

I'll never understand why they load the planes from front to back. Common sense tells you how much that will slow down the whole process.

I'm not so sure he'll ever find that, at least not with a contender. He's probably an ideal #2.

"The man" as in scoring leader or "the man" as in captain/leader? The structure for the latter is already in place there, so it's a distraction I'd say he doesn't have to worry about right now, which really does free him up for the former. That said, in the longterm, this really could be one of those deals that helps out both teams. There can be more than one winner.

I'd be very happy if they physically removed any person from a flight who stores their tiny backpack or jacket in the overhead bin, instead of under the seat.

I feel like we could use some decorating advice. Maybe I should go your route and post the pictures at some point. We've been in our house for about 4 years now, so it's pretty much where we want it to be at this point. There's still one fairly big empty wall that we have no idea how we want to use. The whole downstairs is open concept and this wall is pretty much the transition from our dinner table area to the lounging tv area. We've always toyed with the idea of some sort of bar/glassware storagey thing there. I love to torture the wife with the idea of going with a full size Pacman machine I keep seeing for sale. I always kind of sucked at that game, but *****, my neighbors say they'd never leave if I got it and just think of all the quarters we could make.

Your take would also be a bit premature too, wouldn't it? A portion of a season does not erase 8 years of history. I don't know if it's just me, but this season has seemed to be one of the most erratic in memory across the entire NHL, surges and slumps everywhere. We need to see how they finish and also how they move forward beyond this year. I didn't pay much attention to all the stuff about him this offseason, but I had my doubts about him long before that. It's not to say that he's the cause, but he has definitely been associated with a lot of underperforming team seasons for most of his career. I hope he can kick that, but only time will tell. And speaking of premature conclusions, there's definitely been a lot of that talk around both of our big offseason trades recently. In both cases, you have obvious cases where one team in the deal was looking beyond this season for their main return, yet people want to judge them based on what is happening today. Carolina, no matter how much all of us around here love and cherish that team, was not looking at 2018-2019 from what they got in that deal. Hell, I'm not so sure Buffalo was either. I think they bought low and hoped that they could sell the town/team to Skinner in hopes of re-signing and keeping him around for years to come. And the O'Reilly deal, ignoring the unexpected speed bump, clearly didn't have 2018-2019 as its endgame. It's all incredibly premature. And this is where inkman chimes in with a well needed zinger.

My nitpicky helpful hint of the day: COL is the NHL abbreviation for Colorado. CBJ is Columbus. I really hope I'm not coming across as an ass on this one. There's enough craziness around the Avs that I could probably be easily convinced that they somehow have a claim to Huberdeau through the Duchene trade.

So is he? It would be pretty crazy if he actually was and I accidentally stumbled upon that one.
