  1. Seriously, we’re trying to analyze it? The picture looks like Kaleta smashing Rivet in the face.
  2. I can't wait for the next round of complaints from new england fans about how the league is out to get them after they punish/fine Kraft for this one.
  3. And if Columbus does get in, guess who they are very likely to face in the first round...
  4. Someday people will learn what the actual definition of an elbowing penalty is. Like you, I'm not really sure if the elbow even made contact, but even if it did, that was not an elbowing penalty. He did not lead with it or extend it. Elbowing will not be included in his hearing in any way. And on another note, doing a quick google search of NHL penalties, I ran into this gem with some picture examples. Someone please explain the last charging picture.
  5. It's even better when you tell them that you lost, even though you actually did win the bet.
  6. Oh and I forgot to mention just how little I travel. In April I will be leaving the country for the first time ever. I don't count the short drive over to America Jr. as leaving the country, so this one will count as a first. The wife and I are doing 5 days in Jamaica.
  7. Dude, turn the phone sideways!?
  8. You've definitely traveled more in the past year than I have in my entire life, so our scales are different, but I don't think we're all that far off on our views of Vegas. I'm not itching to go back as there are a million other places ahead of it on my list, but if the opportunity presented itself, I would go and find a way to keep myself occupied. And this is coming from a non-sloppy drunk who hates gambling.
  9. Teams don't typically send down a guy who has spent the full season with the big club. Now specifically when you look at a guy like Mittelstadt who many say it looks like he's hit a wall, you don't send that guy down and gas him even further. Out of curiosity though as to your line of thinking though, if you're sending down the first two, why wouldn't you be doing the same with Dahlin?
  10. I just want to be able to circular logic our way to crowning a one win team as #1. That would be fun. On a college hockey board I used to be a part of, they'd do something called the title belt. This guy with a lot of free time tracked it over the full season. So you start with with the pre-season #1 and then they lose the belt whenever they lose a game. Thanks to conference tournaments and the frozen four, the overall champ usually wound up with the belt, but every now and then a fluky finish would leave the belt in the hands of some team who didn't qualify for their conference tourney.
  11. But then there's: Bowling Green beat UB Miami of blOhio beat Bowling Green UB beat Miami of blOhio So now what, 3 way tie?
  12. I'm good with all of this, but keep in mind that he's talking about the people who want to goonery in the game. Lumping the three together is a bit more of a cliche as opposed to actually equating them.
  13. My wife was actually brought up on stage at a Penn and Teller show in Vegas. We have a cell phone video showing us exactly how they did the trick, so it's a cool little memory. It's amazing how many people have posted their video onto youtube. So yeah, there are still plenty of options out there if you're not into the gambling and drunken shenanigans. I'd do another 3-4 day trip there some time.
  14. That giant ferris wheel was awesome at night. We lucked our way into being the only people on the drink car, so the bartender wound up pointing out all of the ideal views/pictures.
  15. Man what a crappy story. Unless you absolutely have to, stay in your car, folks. Get beyond a guard rail if you have to.
  16. If the game can evolve to that gooner and grit as you suggest, doesn't that imply that it can also evolve beyond it? Evolution doesn't have an endpoint. That's not to say the game should/would evolve that stuff out of the picture, but there's definitely more to be had in addition to it.
  17. B = bowel?
  18. You're all missing the point where Hoss said the vet needs to be "actually capable on the ice". You need more than just a voice. It needs to be a voice who can actually contribute. A name like Justin Williams is what comes to mind, granted this team would need someone a bit younger. But yeah, someone like that when he was 32-34 years old.
  19. How long is your stay? I've only been there once, but 3-4 days seemed perfect to me. Anything beyond that and I probably would have lost interest.
  20. I've been in this same boat for a while. Okposo should have been that guy, but his play went off a cliff. I was always on him for being overrated, but the exact thing this team needs right now is the Chris Drury type.
  21. How exactly would you list that one though, day-to-day: pants?
  22. Goalie stats are so tough to figure out and compare. I think Richter would find himself way behind others in line for the HoF. He was never really considered to be among the best goalies in the league in any given year. I know the Vezina may not be the best way to measure it, but Richter's top finish in the voting was 3rd place, and that was his second season. Other than that, he never made it into the top 5. If you can't beat out your contemporaries, you don't belong in the hall.
  23. She was probably looking at the US hockey HoF list because Richter is not in the HoF. The only american is Frank Brimsek. His career ended in 1950, so PA is the only one around here who may have seen him play. Quick is 71 behind Miller. He's 33, so yeah, health and quality of team are probably the only thing that would stop him from catching Miller.
