  1. That Kane trade was not made from a position of depth. Guhle is moved today thanks in part to an evolving pool of defensemen. They have at least two guys currently in the NHL who are approach being ready for the NHL in Pilut and Borgen. They had nothing of the sort when they made the Kane deal, and on top of that, sending out two prospects along with the pick, as opposed to just one (and that's of course, ignoring the Myers-Bogosian component of that trade). So except for its differences, it's the same thing? That's an odd statement to make.
  2. I didn't even notice that it was the same team in both of those trades. So Carolina sends Pu for future considerations. Then they send future considerations for Jurco in a separate deal. That's kind of odd. Should be interesting to see what that actually is.
  3. That would make sense. I have it muted and only check it occasionally.
  4. Usually it's blocked, but I'm getting their video through the trade tracker page. A bit of a surprise there.
  5. So I assume that Carolina is at the contract limit and needed to clear space.
  6. It's only one comment, but I like the head on his shoulders after reading that one.
  7. There's nowhere else to put this. Maxim Afinogenov is currently in the top 10 searches of the last 5 minutes on hockey database. I always wonder what causes little oddities like this.
  8. They shifted the clock back a few years. That 24 year old was turned into a 21 year old and a first round pick. If they're on a 3 year process (there's that number again), that's two pieces they hope to be significant contributes at that point as opposed to a d-man now approaching the cliff.
  9. It may work well with building their fan base though, drawing eyes right out of the gate. Only time will tell, but it can't be any worse than the typical expansion process. They've already had more success than Columbus or the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise (granted that one's finally changing). Buy a couple playoff appearances and then hope you hit the lottery on a late pick or two. I'm willing to pay attention to see how it plays out.
  10. At a time where they had a GM who wasn't particularly interested in drafting any defense early, he was the only one we had with any potential early upside. The rest were very long term projects. Then he goes out and has a solid first camp at the same time while the team defensive depth was at kiddie pool level, it was natural that he was going to get a lot of talk.
  11. Why on earth was Scandella listed as someone who flew past him on the depth chart? That’s a really odd inclusion on that list. It’s not like he’s some prospect who surged up the list or surprised.
  12. Was the higheat UMass draft pick until Makar went 4th overall.
  13. I saw something the other day that Netflix is going to make a movie about Hulk Hogan and he’ll be played by Hemsworth. That should be interesting.
  14. I see him mentioned all the time. People do realize that Glotov doesn’t even have a contract with the Sabres, right? I realize people love his character, but he is not a Sabre prospect.
  15. Seriously, we’re trying to analyze it? The picture looks like Kaleta smashing Rivet in the face.
  16. I can't wait for the next round of complaints from new england fans about how the league is out to get them after they punish/fine Kraft for this one.
  17. And if Columbus does get in, guess who they are very likely to face in the first round...
  18. Someday people will learn what the actual definition of an elbowing penalty is. Like you, I'm not really sure if the elbow even made contact, but even if it did, that was not an elbowing penalty. He did not lead with it or extend it. Elbowing will not be included in his hearing in any way. And on another note, doing a quick google search of NHL penalties, I ran into this gem with some picture examples. Someone please explain the last charging picture.
  19. It's even better when you tell them that you lost, even though you actually did win the bet.
  20. Oh and I forgot to mention just how little I travel. In April I will be leaving the country for the first time ever. I don't count the short drive over to America Jr. as leaving the country, so this one will count as a first. The wife and I are doing 5 days in Jamaica.
  21. Dude, turn the phone sideways!?
  22. You've definitely traveled more in the past year than I have in my entire life, so our scales are different, but I don't think we're all that far off on our views of Vegas. I'm not itching to go back as there are a million other places ahead of it on my list, but if the opportunity presented itself, I would go and find a way to keep myself occupied. And this is coming from a non-sloppy drunk who hates gambling.
  23. Teams don't typically send down a guy who has spent the full season with the big club. Now specifically when you look at a guy like Mittelstadt who many say it looks like he's hit a wall, you don't send that guy down and gas him even further. Out of curiosity though as to your line of thinking though, if you're sending down the first two, why wouldn't you be doing the same with Dahlin?
