  1. Did they win it though if nothing ever becomes of that pick (currently in the WHL)? We always want to declare winners and losers, but it's also possible for their to be no winner. That said, yes, we did not get what we wanted. It wasn’t much of a price, but I’m with you on everything about not screwing up a bigger deal.
  2. There’s still a good amount of uncertainty in that. If nothing else, he could stand to learn a lot from another good center in front of him. Then again, I’m the guy who wants 5 centers, so I’m always adding depth there if reasonably possible.
  3. I’m good too. I think they’re better today and next year than they were before this deal. It’s also a far more calculated move than the previous trade in question earlier here because Montour’s under their control a bit longer, depending on what that next contract is.
  4. It’s all a giant blur of suck right now in my mind. He could have gotten into 20 fights per game and lost both eyes and I still wouldn’t remember it.
  5. I will never stop calling you old! but anyway, can you guys spin this off to its own thread or something? It’s time to get this thing back on the rails.
  6. Just like so many other deals like this, you can’t really give it a final grade. Buffalo gets he best player today and the Ducks get two different rolls of he dice. We don’t know how those two will pan out. He’ll, we don’t even know if the Ducks will keep either.
  7. We gave away last year’s 6th round pick for Toronto’s this year. Kind of an odd transaction on paper. I’m not sure if that’s what you’re thinking of. And Hunwick is a bit of a special case. If they had traded him, our third round pick this year would go to Pittsburgh (instead of the 4th). So if you look to move him instead of Beaulieu, that a known price that you’ll have to balance out if you’re looking to compare value. So do you hope to move Hunwick and a 3rd in exchange for a 6th and a 4th, or just stick with the today’s deal? And that’s if you can even get that similar deal for Hunwick. He was already glued to the press box when he made the request, so if he was in the dog house, he was there before the request.
  8. This is exactly what it is. And just to expand on that a bit, that full grind is a significantly longer season than at the college level. I would t be surprised, even with them making this move, that he doesn’t actually get sent down for the playoffs.
  9. That likelihood is a lot higher than no draft pick at all though. I'm not really sure why this is a big discussion though, other than someone wanted to butt heads for the hell of it.
  10. There was also a 3rd round pick, by the way. But anyway, this is why I would really love to be a fly on the wall for one of these discussions. I'd love to know exactly how the talks progress up to the point of that 6th rounder being thrown in.
  11. Right, he doesn't have to, but it doesn't hurt either.
  12. The last piece of the Jeff Skinner trade? 6th round pick. So yes, they can be late throw ins on larger deals. Beat me to it.
  13. He made a trade request and then followed it up with nothing but an effort to make sure he still comes across as a team player. He played it well. There's really not all that much to see with all of this at this point.
  14. Beaulieu gets traded and we're comparing Buffalo and Winnipeg weather forecasts. I think that sums up his Sabre career perfectly.
  15. I'd imagine they let it go down to the wire and then took the best they could get.
  16. It seems like there's been more guys than usual this season who have been traded multiple times.
  17. I'd be pulling for a fancy AHL deal, but they've pretty much taken care of those already in the prior months.
  18. The power of hindsight is strong in this one.
  19. No one will ever be able to convince me that the whole thing wasn't fixed.
  20. Lemieux was 6 or so months removed from being drafted 31st overall and in the middle of a solid OHL season. It depends on draft quality obviously, but that's roughly the equivalent of the first round pick sent along with Guhle (since we're loosely equating things here). So on top of that, Winnipeg also got another first round pick. So again, if we ignore all the differences in the deals, sure, they're the same.
  21. Maybe I'm off on this one, but this whole discussion boils down to "Anaheim has a lot of changes coming up", but two people are disagreeing on how to word that.
  22. I'm picturing trades that are only made official if you are able to land the 8 ball in the corner pocket.
  23. If we ignore for a second that you're a male and you suck at drawing, you're just like Josie. You both post on this message board.
  24. Now there's a horrifying thought given that there is no in house option to fill the backup spot, both now and next year. They would obviously have to make another move, but way too much uncertainty there for my tastes.
