  1. I don't know what kind of birds we have around our house*, but they take a very similar approach. They buzz me every time I park and get out of my car. There will be a group of them circling and one dives down about a foot above my head. They've even attacked my neighbor's dog. They don't seem to have as much blood lust this year so far, but instead they're crap machines. I'd much rather deal with the blood lust. *Seriously, even googling "birds of NC" or "birds of wake county" hasn't helped one bit. Google has helped me to rule out the grackle though, so at least it still has some use.
  2. This whole process is great. The only thing I've learned is that the Sabres run a very tight ship and absolutely nothing leaks out. The media reports can be summarized as "everyone's a candidate".
  3. An interim coach to start the season? If I'm a free agent and I see that, I'm immediately crossing that team off the list. It screams "team with no direction". Now, the team might not make it so obvious by actually using that title, but I'd imagine that it would be very obvious if they were taking that approach.
  4. There's a DOB that really sticks out
  5. And the funny thing is, if ultimately they tab Keefe, all the whining would be for nothing. They can't do anything right now if he is their guy.
  6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Tilson_Trophy He's the 3rd dating back to the 50s. It's not all that impressive of a list. Oddly, the last goalie winner was Houser, who was with Rochester/Cincy this year. The other, Raycroft, did win the Calder, but that career never amounted to much of anything. It doesn't look like you can put too much stock into any of that. It's too few goalies spread over too much time. The award as a whole though, that's a rather impressive list of winners in recent years.
  7. It's something that is far too often lost in so many discussions around here. We should have signed this guy. We should have traded for this guy. Both sides have to agree for either of those scenarios to play out. That said, the option was available to these players and it sounds like that is pretty much what they were originally playing under. They now want more and good luck to them on that. I hope they have realistic goals from all of this.
  8. I'm pretty sure you realize what I was asking. I don't remember seeing anything that suggested any NHL team was looking at him. Then again, I haven't exactly been looking for these stories.
  9. And on that note, did Gronborg interview anywhere else?
  10. Wings, beef on weck, and probably some canadian beer. Way to honor the true spirit of a mexican holiday.
  11. I'm amazed they even got one year out of a scenario where one team had PSE ownership/operation while the rest were run by the league. I'm not sure what the correct label would be, but that seems like one hell of a conflict of interest. Maybe it works in the short term as a building block experiment, but that was never going to be sustainable. Have you seen the tv deal the XFL just signed? That's pretty much what they have, not getting paid by the networks. I'd imagine these type of things happen all the time.
  12. I was just responding to the thread you started. This above is the read I got from that initial tweet, that they were handing the team back to the league. But anyway, I'm sure the NHL played a big role in this one.
  13. I'm amazed at how many people can actually name the arenas given how often those names change. My guess is that over half of the still open pro stadiums/arenas I listed have been renamed since I was there. Bonus points to the person who can list all of the names used while they were in attendance. I'm sure many can say that they went to a game in the MMA, HSBC, FNC, and KBC.
  14. I'm late to this party. But anyway, this is a misleading number. The Devils play in an arena with a smaller capacity. If they had filled it to 100% capacity each game, they would have moved up one single spot in those rankings. The team the would have jumped? Winnipeg. 7th lowest in the league, but no one will ever say they have an attendance issue right now. In terms of capacity, Jersey looks to be right above the mark where numbers fall off the cliff if you. Those 5 teams with the least total number of fans have some ugly numbers if you 're looking at the percentage of capacity. If we're talking about tv ratings for a team like that, I wonder what the impact is of MSG holding the broadcast rights for about 85 different NHL teams. It has to cause some headaches over in that area.
  15. And he inherited a team with 4 hall of famers. That certainly makes the job easier. I don't want to downplay the success while he was there, but it's much easier to build a house if you're handed a hammer and a saw compared to only being handed a rock.
  16. You had to disguise her? I must have missed a story at some point.
  17. Thanks for the heads up. I was talking to a friend on saturday who told me they were holding off on a 2nd trailer due to spoiler reasons. Time to check that out. edit: @..., I meant to say that your line earlier got a bigger reaction from me than it should have.
  18. Does a head coach wind up looking over his shoulder when there is that much experience on the bench?
  19. I don't know why, but the bolded line got a big laugh from me. As for the rest and reading up on phase 4. Good luck with that. They have not announced a thing yet about any films that will follow Spiderman. I wonder if some interesting storyline driving moment may happen there and they want to keep it completely off the radar until the movie is released.
  20. Or none of it happens at all.
  21. There's also potentially the translation issue, which the author acknowledged.
  22. It's funny, I didn't even notice the scene we're talking about right now. But anyway... They certainly seem to be building her up quite a bit. She kicked the crap out of Thanos. I wonder if they ever do try to work in the X-Men if she would wind up being the vehicle for that.
  23. Brawndo left out the second part of the NHLPA's statement: "Good luck, but we're not touching that one with a 20 foot pole."
  24. @..., you started out by saying that Loki is back. But then later you say that all of the changes create their own universe. I’m on board with that, which means Loki isn’t actually back. He exists in his own parallel timeline now thanks to this movie. That same thing happens with Cap too. He lived a full life with Peggy Carter in another separate time line. He can’t live that full life with her without completely changing everything, particularly anything hydra related. “Honey, you know that shield group you formed? Yeah, most of them are actually hydra.” so he’s in that parallel universe and must have used pym particles to get back there at the end. What i I really want to know is what was the wrong choice that the Ancient One made previously. I’d like for it to be something more than just not handing the stone to Banner in a previous time loop.
