  1. Just in case you're not joking with this comment, I'll answer. They're both on light switches so we never actually use the chains. This one's got wiring issue written all over it... or four bulbs simultaneously blew out. Hey, it could happen.
  2. This should be a fun one to figure out later today. The ceiling fan in my bedroom has 4 of those candle light bulbs on it. All 4 went out this morning. The fan still works though. I hope it's something simple and I don't have to go too crazy messing with wires.
  3. Deuce is a pretty good word to use when talking about Jack Edwards.
  4. We're the exact opposite right now. I think it was March where it rained pretty much every single day in the month. We've pretty much had nothing since.
  5. Nashville?
  6. Yeah, it's pretty clear that he's saying Toronto gets a 7th round pick if he signs.
  7. I would hope people read the actual piece instead of the Boston-based puff piece. A great service to the board would be replacing the link in the original post so that no one accidentally winds up on the Boston page.
  8. And let's not forget how negative pretty much any evaluation of EJ Manuel was throughout the offseason and preseason. If nothing else, it's nice to see a change from that. Those two were very similar when it comes to their biggest knock being accuracy issues.
  9. Independents as in not playing in any conference? You can bump that up to 60 teams then thanks to Arizona State. They're an interesting case too as this discussion goes towards the cost of starting a team. Their travel budget has to be absurd since there is no other team anywhere near them (a trip to Colorado at a minimum). But anyway, looking back at the actual article where the rankings are done, it actually states "best places for hockey enthusiast", so it's not a ranking of hockey markets. That terminology was added in by NBC Sports' Boston-based page. There's a group that will want to frame the discussion in a much different way for their audience. If you're going to talk about the so called enthusiast, bringing that mix of factors that LGR questioned starts to make a little more sense. It still misses out on things like the access to the junior hockey market that is limited mainly to the border towns, but you can start to see some reason to it.
  10. The mistake is anyone expecting journalism out of an internet ranking of hockey markets, or any other ranking. Those are probably the same people who fall for the bleacher report slideshow format over and over. These things are filler, nothing more.
  11. It's even better when they use permanent markers. It was fun watching a couple games at Northeastern one year with the same play drawn up on the corner glass for a good portion of the season.
  12. That one is at least perfectly reasonable to include in their scoring. More teams = more opportunities to watch. A lot of the rest of their list seems to be thrown in there at random. Much of it relies heavily on population alone, so the list isn't much of a surprise. Let's face it, the whole thing is nothing more than click bait.
  13. What's Derek Roy up to? Maybe we can sign him and then immediately trade him to Pittsburgh for Malkin. All these years later, it needs to happen!
  14. Well if there absolutely has to be a nickname, this is hockey we're talking about. It has to be Kroogsie.
  15. Or you could go completely off the script and call him Krueger. Crazy, I know.
  16. But has that history of swedes now transferred over to Edmonton?
  17. Never heard of it
  18. I’d throw that Scandella deal under the “hockey trade” label. Much of that one scream guys needed a change of scenery. But anyway, I’d say there’s a very good reason why you’re not seeing many of those deals in recent years. I’d venture a guess that the vast majority of deals around the entire league lean heavily on money and prospects. It’s been that way for a generation or two at this point. Amen to that.
  19. At first I thought the story was tied directly to the so called crossroads that started this thread. I didn't even realize they had a players association for this league, but then on top of that, the players walked out on both the league and that association. If that's the case, who is even in the discussion for the "agreement" in Brawndo's post?
  20. And if the WNBA can't do it, good luck to this league. They've got a fairly high profile feeder system in the form of the NCAA. Hockey will never approach anything close the level of familiarity that exists with women's college bouncyball. And if they're trying to draw investors, a work stoppage, or whatever you want to call this, doesn't help. I'd love to see it work out. We're in a very small minority who want more hockey, but sadly I think the whole thing is doomed.
  21. These are oddly specific scenarios for poll options
  22. At first I read that as Antonio Banderas. I have no idea why.
  23. Sweet Lou will find a way to make it happen... or 6 different ways each with an increasing degree of difficulty
  24. And if it's like most discussion, neither is actually right.? Seriously though, I'm not entirely sure why I was greeted with snark in response to my last post.
  25. Maybe a poor wording on my part, but any agreement itself is still going to come down to "we will pay you X amount".
