So if by some chance he does sign a sheet somewhere and Carolina actually matches, you can expect them to trade him after a year or two.
-
I can't imagine that the Deslauriers contract was getting in the way of anything. As crazy as it sounds, the Ducks must have actually wanted him.
-
I'm pretty sure they put language into the new CBA that specifically mentions that. I'm sure we can look up a pre-CBA contract that has already cause a recapture hit. Luongo's must have been from that time frame, right?
-
Speaking of "that guy's still playing?", what is he, about 75 years old at this point?
-
As far as I remember (too lazy to look anything up), Penner was the last one to actually change teams after signing an offer sheet. We're talking, what, 13 years at this point? As for teams not using them, you do have to wonder if it's worth the time spent on a negotiation knowing that you more than likely won't be getting that player. Sure you can mess with someone else's cap, but that's time wasted that could be spent talking to another free agent instead. What if you're also missing out on that other guy as well?

Local news has Reimer traded to Carolina for Darling. There was another piece going somewhere, but I wasn’t listening too closely. I think it’s hilarious if that’s their plan out here.
-
I always wonder, but since you’re not giving up the month, I can’t imagine the info is too useful.
-
I’m fully in the camp of offer sheets never happening, but Carolina is practically begging for it at this point. It’s the perfect storm of stupid cheapness.

Just eat an almond. Close enough

So we still use Tim Connolly as the default avatar here? This draft pick game makes me want to reset mine.

That thing is going to fall apart so fast. It’s going to be today’s version of the video scouting days here, he’s not just hoarding sugar packets, he’s dumping the entire contents of the salt and pepper shakers into ziplock bags.
-
I’d imagine that there aren’t too many players there that are older than them.

Since we moved here, I’ve heard comments about Wake county reaching their 1 millionth resident. And that doesn’t count large areas like Chapel Hill and Durham.

Jerry York? So they’re acknowledging the NCAA now. That should open the flood gates. I’m kind of surprised that they went with a still active coach as opposed to the retired ones. You’ll probably get Mason, Parker, and Berenson rapid fire over the next three years.

Sabres RFAs Receiving Qualifying Offers from the Team

I wonder if you’ll see the other two go that route. Martin is clearly gone since he couldn’t even play in Cincinnati last year. -
I hope not for the shoulders. I’d rather they keep what they already had for each of the jerseys. Just a personal preference on that one.

What’s weird about it? The colors do need to match for a patch. I could see the logo maybe seeming a bit off. They could potentially remove that on a patch and push the 1970 together. Maybe someone with better eyes than me can say otherwise, but I believe that would make the last two identical.
-
Seems like we are looking at chest patches for each Jersey.

I’ll accept the high numbers when it’s a year of birth, but that odometer has officially rolled over to zero.
-
Haven’t they traditionally only brought guys to this camp up until they finished their ELC? That approach would explain Smith.
-
Yeah, I guess so. And you better believe they wouldn’t pass on the opportunity to sell a few tickets for those.
-
The talk about when he’ll be ready? I feel like the pretty typical model at this point for guys taken around that spot in the draft is one year in junior/college and then making the jump. I’m guessing we’ll see the same here.

I’m willing to bet that when they signed Mittelstadt, they made he guarantee that he wouldn’t be sent to the AHL. It can’t be put on paper, but it’s a gentleman’s agreement they want to honor.

I can’t count the number of Jamaicans I’ve run into in the Yukon.

And they’re from different countries.
