Right, this one is bad because it was made by Jason Botterill. The Montreal ones are probably bad because they were made my Marc Bergevin. The Nashville one? Who cares how early it is, David Poille made the deal so it must be ok. How can anyone argue with this logic?
-
It's fine that you don't give him the benefit of the doubt, but you need to at least apply that in reasonable scenarios. You might want to judge him because he didn't put milk on his cheerios this morning. Meanwhile, I'll judge that because I don't like cereal. But at the end of that day, it's a matter that means absolutely nothing.
-
And since we're arguing over day 2 draft picks, we're just now reaching the point where the first wave of those guys are signing their first contract.
-
Not if Tondas is claiming ownership of the thread.

So earlier you argued that one was more valuable and now you're saying that they're all equal value? Pick a side. Meanwhile in the 5th round, Montreal sent a 2018 5th round pick to Chicago for their 2019 5th round pick. -Montreal also traded a 2018 4th round pick to Calgary for a 2019 4th round pick. -Nashville traded a 2018 3rd round pick for to Florida for a 2019 3rd round pick. -There were also multiple 7th round deals of this nature. So what is it, each of these GMs were played like a fool? You can't simply compare the pick numbers to make any declaration about any of these GMs.
-
There's a fine line though when it comes to language evolving. Remember this post 15 years from now when everyone is talking and writing like a twitter post.
-
The draft pool has completely different levels of depth from year to year. 156 one year does not equal 156 the next. If they feel that 2019 is deeper than 2018, it won't matter in a GMs mind if the pick is a 10 or so slots later.
-
These are the little things we can never track. For all we know, it could have also been a return on a previous favor. Those pesky "future considerations" exist even if they're not specifically mentioned in the trade. Also, the values you suggested are kind of interesting. If you look at the 2019 draft, Buffalo wound up trading that Toronto pick along with their 7th rounder in 2019 for a 5th rounder in 2019. So that 2018 6th rounder along with a 2017 7th rouder wound up equating to a 2018 5th rounder... almost exactly what you're suggesting. And Buffalo moved all over the place in the 2019 draft. I'd suspect that it was a draft they had more interest in.
-
And if you scroll through that draft an other drafts, you'll find several trades identical to this one, a pick in round X this year for a pick in round X next year. It doesn't matter how much you yell about this, it's a very common move and it doesn't make any of these GMs inept. And it also doesn't matter one bit that it's the first pick of the 6th round. The 156th overall pick does hold some magical value above anything else in that range.
-
Wait, people actually care about trading a 2018 6th round pick for a 2019 6th round pick? You traded a scratch off lottery ticket today for one tomorrow. Look, we have plenty of things to use against him, but this one is a stretch, particularly with how much the talent pool varies from year to year.

It must be nice too to be given a sign that the immunity system is functioning properly.

Serenity now!

A couple weeks ago there was some word going around about one of the young girls in the neighborhood having covid. As it turns out, they were scamming people. This guy is a real winner. I've always referred to him as white trash and he's taken it to a new level. The stories around this family (well, two families if you count the home wrecker incident) are so messed up.
-
I thought it was already out, but maybe that was just the list of home and road opponents. See, these are the problems you run into when you no longer have any clue what day it is. It might be friday or tuesday, may or march, the 18th or the 75th... I don't have any clue anymore.

I'm a few too many beers in to figure it out myself, but how different is this from the original schedule?
-
But that hasn't happened. Hell, we don't even know if it would have if things were different. I'm not going to focus on changing past actions. Hospitals have not been overrun in most places, many hospitals have seen sharp drops in their typical areas of care, particularly cardiac units. We haven't suddenly become a heart-healthy society. Heart disease has always been the #1 cause of death and it's going to rear it's ugly head when this lack of care catches up with people.
-
And then there's the people who have died during this for other reasons since they don't want to seek medical attention. That may very well be the biggest concern from all of this longterm. People aren't seeking out care when they otherwise would and that's going to cause a lot of issues down the road.

Report: “Another Disconnect” Between Botterill and Krueger

I refuse to reference anything but the originals. -
We have a mail kiosk for the entire neighborhood. I always walk to it anyway, so on my walk home, I'll take any misplaced mail to the right house. ...Well, except mail intended for one specific house. Those people have been so incredibly rude any time I've brought them mail (and it's a lot). That stuff gets the old return to sender. A richard move? Probably, but they've earned it. My story above, I guess it really isn't a laziness thing, just pure stupidity. I've seen a few of those ones where there's no name on it so they have no idea who it belongs to or where to take it. There's an address on the box/envelope! I may have to explore this a bit once work dies down a bit.

Those early round picks haven’t been getting moved around in the lead up to the draft in exchange for players in recent years. The first round picks moved for players, those all happen in season. Other than the obvious exception of the Vegas expansion draft deals, there hasn’t even been a handful of players moved for early picks over the last 3-4 drafts (too lazy to go back further) in the days leading up to the draft. The lack of a lottery is not going to have any impact on the trade market this time around.

The wife really needs to stop showing me the idiocy on our neighborhood Facebook page. The latest one (names are changed to protect the innocent morons) ”204 Street ave, we are at 402 Street ave and a package was delivered here by mistake and there’s no name on it” I’d light up that moron if I was on that page. If only each of the houses had numbers on the front telling you which house was which. Just walk the damn thing down the street and stop being so damn lazy.

There should at least be some level of educations about the masks. I can't count the number of times I've seen a news reporter out at a remote location doing their report with the mask pulled down below their chin. One night, they actually did a story on proper mask wearing, then immediately cut away to the reporter with the mask pulled down. This is where the majority of people are getting their information. I hate that they have as much power as they do, but since they do in fact have it, they could be doing so much more good by mandating that their reporters either take the mask completely off while on the air or leave it over their mouth. Now maybe I just happen to watch the only station where the reporters do this. I'm guessing that's not the case, but I'll acknowledge the possibility.

My mind always flocks to the originals, so that is not the quote I was thinking of. Right character, wrong movie. A longer rant has now come to mind, but I'll save it for a PM and not derail this thread. -
An event that they can televise and generate some revenue.

I can’t focus on the single digit possibility. Oh wait, this is probably a topic for the covid thread
