Every single time I see a "baby on board" sticker, I immediately respond with "something something, Burt Ward".

Meanwhile Diepetro is still getting $1.5 million a year for 10 more seasons (counting this one). It's no Bobby Bonilla, but it's a nice deal if you can get it.

I can't wait until our neighborhood "I'm a fan of this team now because they're winning" guy chimes in on this one.

Pilut in Rochester makes perfect sense, especially due to the injury. But what I don't understand about it is if both he and Jakiharju have the same exact cap hit, how flipping the two has any impact on the cap figure. If you send down 925K and call up 925K, you still have the same cap figure. So that leads me to believe that they don't actually have the same cap hit, but it's tough to whittle these things down to the actual daily figures, particularly if there's some bonus in there that's tough to find. There is one other little game being played in these moves that may not have been noticed yet. Dea, Ellie, and Smith all have the same cap hit. So why call up Dea? He's the only one of those guys with a one way deal. So even if it's just one single day's pay, they some real money. He makes the same number either way, but calling up either of the other two would give them a bigger paycheck. Of course, that whole thought is out the window if these guys don't actually count as being on the team for one day. Again, figuring out this stuff on a day-to-day basis is a major headache.

Taro has spelled it all out nicely in the lineup thread.
-
He was sent down a day or two ago. Take a look at that most recent post, it lists Pilut as being recalled.
-
@Taro T, I see Pilut and Jokiharju with the same exact cap hit. So why the need for the swap of those two? Is there some signing bonus somewhere that I’m not seeing or does the one extra year on Jokiharju’s deal factor in somehow?
-
Good for them. I’m too lazy to do the math, but I’m assuming the found the perfect combination of contracts to get them exactly to the cap.
-
Take a look at where his arms are the entire time. That’s he perfect example of the problem the NFL has with these hits. He’s not trying to tackle, he’s trying to hurt.
-
I mean that as generally as possible. But to clarify it slightly, these kind of things can end relationships, even the strong ones.
-
None intended. It was probably worded poorly, but the husband's going through it too. If his mind's not in the right place either, things could take a wrong turn.
-
If it was the other way around and Brady took the hit, the Bills player would probably have been executed by now.

We need to reach a point where it is perfectly acceptable, legal even, to punch someone in the face after they ask that question. That's one thing that has become incredibly clear while reading about this over the course of the day. No matter how badly you feel after something like this, you are never alone. The help is readily available as long as you're willing to seek it. Unfortunately, I'd bet that far too often, the person they look to the most for that help is the one who is probably the worst equipped to provide it, the husband. edit: I’ll modify this thanks to sizzle. What I mean is that they turn to the husband and no one else. It’s that internalizing thing that taro was getting at earlier.

The Athletic for [s]$24??[/s]?$36/? :) for Full Year - Today Only

I love the title of this thread and I hope it is never changed/fixed. -
It almost looks like a pair of head hunters there.

It's a bit boring when they all have the same cap hit. Olafsson's the only obvious one for the paper transaction since he's the only ELC with a lower price tag. It's much more fun when someone like Dahlin's salary just happens to be equal to the exact amount they need.
-
Calling that a tackle is laughable. Kane tripped after the linesman grabbed him. He's doing his job. I get the feeling that once Kane watched that replay, he shut up pretty quickly. It's best to stay quiet and hope the whole thing goes away. A clear video of a two hand slash across a linesman's thigh is not a good look for any player.
-
I don't know if that's the biggest crime or the damn size label they put on any replica. If I ever bought one, my first move would be to remove that.
-
I can't stop reading this sentence. I don't know whether to laugh or to cringe.

There's a ton of money in having a villain. The sheep continue to watch in hope that the villain finally gets theirs. Unfortunately they don't realize that this day is never coming.
-
That has to be it. I'm pretty sure he did connect with the linesman there and if that's the case, I'm perfectly fine with an ejection. It's only preseason, there's no point in letting it get too crazy.

They'll work "home" into the title like they have with the first two. -
I’d be curious to see if any other team has played three winless teams so far like NE has.
-
Is that his salary in the final year? No raise is required in the qualifying offer if the previous year's salary is over $1 million.

I was actually a bit surprised when I looked up her age. I knew it would be close, but I figured she was a couple years older than me. She's been around for so long at this point, so I can see why I thought it. Either way, too many things lately help me to realize I'm closer to the old group than to the young group.
