Nathan Balloon: Playing in Buffalo "Mentally degrading"
shrader replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
When it doubt, just add vowels. -
The NHL landscape is littered with prospects who never wound up seeing time with the team that drafted them. That could be guys who weren't NHL level, but it also includes those that wound up being traded. Let's not forget that each of these picks is an asset. There's far more value than just will he or won't he skate for this team.

Botterill, "imperative to keep our depth on defense"
shrader replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Let's face it, the 50 years didn't do that to you. It's more like the last 10 or so. -
Is it a board rule that we have to assume all short guys from BC are centers?
-
Getting the same three commercials over and over doesn't really sound all that different from the normal broadcast.
-
-
It's all coming to a crashing halt for that draft class all at the same time. ...Well, except the other QB from that 1st round who shall not be named.
-
At least she didn't go a little lower and swipe the card.
-
Lies! I would like it so much better if he invested in me instead of in himself.?
-
It's going to differ from draft to draft obviously. Then there's that more NHL-ready guy but with a lower ceiling that might go later in the draft. Regardless, I think it's a slimy tactic by these writers to throw that comment out there.

Each time I see the name Andrew MacWilliam, I picture Andrew Peters wearing a fake mustache, kind of like this guy (except this one wasn't fake):
-
Is it really that crazy of a thought that the 3rd overall pick is ready but the 7th isn't? Then again, 1.5 months of hockey doesn't mean that #3 is actually ready yet either. It's fun when a couple of writers blatantly try to stir the pot.

I wonder how quickly he'll run out of steam when he has to talk for a period of time that is much longer than a short intermission segment. That could be trouble at his age.
-
I’m not really sure why you quoted me. Sorry about that.
-
@inkman, did you even read my post? It at least I just got a good reminder of why Turley wasn’t a QB. And Garrett deserves a break. Clearly he was just trying to put the helmet back on Rudolph’s head. He did swing it opening first.
-
I'm always going to think of him as alcoholics anonymous from now on thanks you you.
-
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised by a fine. Just about the only thing I could think of that would cause more than that would be if there was if he threw a random slur at Garrett** and multiple source on field backup that story. **And I want to be very clear that I'm not suggesting that he did that. It's just a hypothetical scenario where the league would suspend him as well. I don't have the slightest clue what went on beyond the scuffle you see in that video.

Smile and not, Charlie. Smile and nod.

So do you mean what lead up to all of this or have you not seen the clips yet? If you haven’t watched it, go google it because words won’t do it justice. As for the other part, that’s what I really want to know. This whole thing doesn’t just happen randomly. There had to have been some craziness throughout that game.

And let's face it, any possible move for Kovalchuk is probably just going to be a paper one. My guess is he won't be playing anywhere. So you're not actually adding a locker room distraction, you're just adding some payroll/cap space that will be spending his time in Russia. Buffalo's not a spot where it will make much sense, but honestly, I don't think it makes much sense for LA to trade him anywhere. They have deep pockets and they don't need the cap space.

GDT: 11/14/19 Carolina vs Buffalo at 7pm ET, MSG &WGR550
shrader replied to jsb's topic in The Aud Club
We'll see how long it takes for ownership cheapness to dry that out though. It's not a short-term process, but we'll see it over time. -
Now we just need someone to build site with a list of drafted players rights and when the teams lose control. That would be incredibly useful. I'm too lazy to look up year, age, and when the college guys started school.
-
The email I just got now is hilariously stupid. They actually want to send out notices that they're wearing the ugly white jerseys?

Your copy of windows 10 is my new best friend.

They're the same organization at this point. Anyone signed by Rochester is done under Buffalo guidance. But if we want to get technical, the Sabres themselves can't sign anyone to an AHL-only contract. Those deals do not count against the 50 man limit either. But what I'm guessing you're really getting to is whether or not the Sabres hold his rights. Typically the NHL team does not hold the rights to a guy on an AHL-only deal. But with Murray it looks like this is a special case since we did draft him back in 2016. So the Sabres hold his rights until June 1 2020.
