GDT: Jets @ Sabres 1/12/2023, 7pm, MSG šŗ, WGR š»
shrader replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I miss having a goalie who can steal you games. It's kind of ironic that we're reminded of this a couple days before they honor the last one we had who could steal games. -
You may or may not remember this, but my father-in-law was the same exact time. Up until your post I hadnāt realized that it had been so long. Now that I have a one year old of my own, Iām reminded of a few very important people who he will never know.

Jeff Marek believes Portillo will test free agency.
shrader replied to Buffalonill's topic in The Aud Club
Right, and then if drafted again and he goes another two years unsigned, heās off to UFA land. Whatās 2+2? Those same 4 years for the college player. But I do absolutely love the ideas upthread where a team holds the draftees rights for eternity. If a guy doesnāt want to play somewhere, heās just screwed. I think Kim Jong Un would approve. -

The problem with this argument is that every single thing you described can also happen with a junior or European player. So why the animosity towards only one source of players? -

I love it when this topic comes up. As youāve outlined, the college player actually has less rights in the current system compared to junior players. And the solution people suggest is to restrict them even further. Itās absolutely brilliant. -
I don't think they mathematically eliminated the patriots in 2020, but that's 3 years in a row now where the Bills handed them the final loss of the season. I can get used to this. Here's my screwup of the day yesterday. I lost track of time and when I turned the tv on, I see Josh Allen with his hands on his head and the building is exploding. Just now in Doohickie's post above is the first time I actually saw the return.

Blake Wheeler missed the last 3 weeks with a ruptured testicle...

Iāve always wondered why itās always the left one. -
Mini-shrader is a year old today!

Granted it was the finals, but Nik Lidstrom played 4 full games with his. -
I would have expected some flames or something painted across the hood.

The cutoff for the old category is 7 years older than me, my brother's age.

The best path to a playoff slot is to just keep winning. The rest will take care of itself.

Buffalo Bills: Damar Hamlin collapsed and taken to hospital
shrader replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I'd suggest that we keep this to the Bills thread. This one should be all about Hamlin. -
I would consider the neutral site game, but that other option about having the choice is the one that is way too gimmicky to me. But really, let's face it, that isn't a choice at all. It is essentially saying "hey top seed, you don't have home field anymore". But as for Smell's comment about going to Indy, I get the feeling they'd choose a place like Vegas. It's a perfect opportunity to bow to their new gambling overlords and it's also a location that really isn't all that convenient to anyone in the Buffalo/KC/Cincy grouping. Indy's a bit too close to Cincy and maybe KC (too lazy to figure out the scale of the map).
-
It all feels a bit too gimmicky to me. First of all, crazy things can happen and the teams involved may wind up losing earlier than expected. That could completely wipe out either of those scenarios. Do you book a neutral site a few weeks in advance, maybe even sell some tickets, and then the game doesn't wind up happening? Just settle it by winning percentage and be done with it.

@carpandean, that's all true, but what they do potentially impacts so many other teams as well. I don't know if there are many ties out there and how records shake out, but it could flop draft order somewhere down the line. I can't see them messing with any of that by creating an artificial result of a game. Here's another interesting angle. If that game didn't happen, do the stats still count? What if that WR misses a bonus by 1 TD or if some LB needed a certain number of tackles? Obviously everyone will put Hamlin first, but they would definitely fight that somewhere down the road.

Inkman, is that you?

Itās a half win basically. Take a look at the giants winning percentage. They are 9-6-1, which comes out to 0.594. 9.5/16=0.59375 Edit: Remove that tie and they are 9-6, which would be 0.6

Is Tage Thompson a top 10 NHL player? Is he top 5?
shrader replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Good lord, it looks completely realistic that he tops his career year last year in just 50 games. -
Calling it a tie could potentially cause some issues with tie breakers and draft rankings. Conference records, strength of schedule⦠it changes all of those. Theyāre better off just removing the game and I do think thatās what they do.

"Season ticket member" feels like a strange phrase.

Buffalo Bills: Damar Hamlin collapsed and taken to hospital
shrader replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I get the feeling that anyone who actually does an interview is a bit more on the outside looking in. With that second-hand information from people who more than likely don't have a good understanding of every little step, the information blurs quickly. Didn't they already shoot down his comment about Hamlin being resuscitated a second time at the hospital? -

Theyāre going to have around 30 years worth of toys.
