  1. I wonder if Anaheim may actually need the Backes cap hit next year. Bogosian wouldn't help in that situation since his soon to be non-existant contract expires this summer.
  2. I was reading a Byfuglien story on TSN yesterday. At the end it mentioned that if his contract is terminated after the deadline he wouldn't be eligible to sign with a playoff rival. What's the rule there, you're ineligible for the playoffs if your contract is terminated that late in the year?
  3. I wonder what that does to Jacksonville. Will they have their two home games in London and then also have a neutral site. I'm sure the last thing that owner wants is to be forced to play 8 games in Jacksonville. And 16 is a lot of neutral site games. I'll be curious to see how many sites they choose. They could give London the equivalent of a full season now, but I'm sure they want to spread them around a bit. And I hadn't thought about the "home team" in a neutral game. Does that team get anything other than calling the coin toss? I kind of wish they would just remove that element already and just assign heads to one team and tails the other. They probably get the better locker room facilities too, but who knows what those options would be at certain sites, if there is a better option.
  4. And it's fixed now. It was odd because they also used that same typo in the clickable link on their home page. Apparently that's the name of a canadian tennis player.
  5. I just saw this very minor trade on TSN. Can someone please translate this line for me:
  6. I wasn't so great either, then I lucked my way into finding a job that worked closely with a couple of my professors from school. Do you have anyone like that who you can talk to? I'm completely convinced that the first "foot in the door" job out of college is completely about networking.
  7. Are you finished with school or are you searching ahead of time?
  8. I bet he was the mystery goalie too.
  9. To be fair, it's a single quote pulled from an entire interview. I'm sure it fits much better when hearing the whole thing.
  10. And that's the danger in twitter. Friedman could have said just about anything where those elipses are. Hell, the quote could very well be "Ristolainen's value is down from where they'd like it to be", but we get to cut up the quote to present whatever message we'd like.
  11. It's all a part of baseball's evil scheme to finally throw significant punishments at pitchers who intentionally throw at batters. I love all the outrage from certain players who say the Astros were messing with their careers and livelihood. And throwing a 95 mph fastball at someone's head doesn't? The door's open to salvage something from this, baseball.
  12. That's assuming they could have moved him for a second line center earlier. I'm not so sure that I believe that one.
  13. I don't like the all or nothing approach on this one. I think getting to the conference is a pretty significant result. Those 4 teams have a big impact on the playoffs. Then again, that could just be years of built up Buffalo bias in me.
  14. So does everyone get a neutral site game? I want no part of a short season where one team gets 8 home games and the other gets 9. I could live with that imbalance if it was baseball with their 2000 game schedule, but not here.
  15. A tank that landed the owner. It saved the franchise, granted that was many years later.
  16. Forgive me for speaking for Taro, but I repeat the question.
  17. Stupid GIF. Homer states that Batman's a scientist. It wasn't a question.
  18. That was one of the rides. It spins fast, the floor drops out, but you stick to the wall.
  19. Pittsburgh probably isn't the greatest inspiration for this tongue in cheek comment...
  20. Eklund's science blog needs to happen.
  21. Late round picks out of eastern europe in the 80s weren't late round picks due to a lack of talent.
  22. I don't remember the specifics at the time of the trade, but injuries also factor into this. I know there have been stretches this year were there were also a handful of guys on standard IR. Those count to the cap in full, there's no relief there. We can question the follow-up move all we want, but I think it's safe to assume that this trade was made in order to bring in Frolik. If this was done in the heart of that injury run, they very well could not have taken on a penny of salary. We can fault the GM all we want, but the blame for injuries can't be placed on mim. You're saying retaining salary for 30% of the season, but they traded Scandella with around half of the year left to go. So if you're suggesting they take on that money at that point, that's additional money to the cap and every penny adds up quickly when things are tight. Retaining money at that moment was going to bring on some significant limitations moving forward. It may very well have been too much. Now, should they have held onto him longer and potentially maximize the return? It's easy to answer that one today in a vaccuum and ignore all the variables. I want to wait and see how the deadline shakes out before I pass judgement on this one.
  23. It was done in order to take Frolik. Yeah, I know you're suggesting that shouldn't have added him at all, but he wanted a forward and he more than likely couldn't retain money and add that forward.
