  1. I'm late to this party and all I've actually read is the last post and quote. So this team hasn't drafted any impactful forwards outside of the first round during the Boterill regime? What exactly is the definition of "impactful" in that description. To date, not a single player drafted after the first round over those three years has a full season under his belt. 53 is the max career games played for any single player. So you've got, what, maybe 1 or 2 GMs who currently have an impactful player from that time span?
  2. I still stick with my Nigerian prince theory here.
  3. I completely forgot about that one, probably because I never found myself clicking over to that station. Those regional sports channels didn't have enough material to ever catch my eye. A big part of why TBS brought so many people to Braves games is because they had non-sport syndicated shows on during the day. I'm assuming WGN was the same way for the Cubs, but I never had that station.
  4. A network that didn't exist when many of the posters here were kids.
  5. Why can't it be both?
  6. You should probably look up how many teams in NHL history have missed the playoffs 9 years in a row.
  7. The NHL standings are now propaganda. Good to know.
  8. Now if only it was actually two people they pulled out of the crowd. Unfortunately I'm guessing that's too much of a liability.
  9. Did you miss the part where he mentioned who owns the Marlies?
  10. Blue gear and a giant blue maple leaf on the side of his mask? I think it's a safe bet.
  11. Yeah, there's no reason to change it since it's so rare. I can understand the concern about a local guy getting thrown in net against his hometown team, but you just need to run that risk. I get the feeling that the NHL might ultimately consider placing some league hired guy in every town, but eventually shoot it down due to it being a pointless expense. And as for the goalie coach, I thought about that one, but there's bound to be a few out there who are 50+ years old or who have serious health issues.
  12. None of those other sports require the player to wear a unique set of pads to play the position. Goalie equipment is not one size fits all.
  13. Neither has an NHL contract right now, so it’s probably doubtful.
  14. It doesn't really change his message one bit, but I'm not so sure percentage of capacity is the best number to present. 10 teams this year are averaging over 100% capacity for the season, so clearly some games are being played with what capacity truly is. Pro sports attendance numbers... I don't trust them. On a side note, I would never have guessed Dallas as a team with the great numbers they have this year. They have a massive spike in their numbers this year.
  15. It's not really a question of who they're more likely to catch. They need to catch both... unless 5th place in the other division really falls off. But that's not realistic with how tight 5-7 are over there, 2 point separation. And I'm not so sure 2 wins suddenly means Toronto is hitting their stride. Even with that, they're still just 5-4-1 in their last 10. Those last two are just as likely to be their speed bump as the other stretch of losses is.
  16. Because we drafted Zegras last year.
  17. At least I finally know what Aerosmith was talking about with love in an elevator.
  18. Well yeah... it’s 7/11. Any place where their pride and joy is the roller dog, that’s not a place where you should be buying hot food.
  19. Shoot twice, defend once... isn’t that the same end?
  20. Sabres are shorthanded at the end of the game but pull the goalie to go 5-on-5. That's where I'd put my money. I feel like that should explain Olofsson too. But back to the point of my original question. The PK has performed slightly better with Ullmark in net, but it doesn't look to be a very meaningful difference.
  21. We've seen his ceiling and his floor. Now he'll settle somewhere in between. Please don't.
  22. So Frolik's your odd man out.
  23. If he winds up in Vegas, that's all the evidence you need.
  24. Do they track penalty kill rates by goalie?
  25. Except he wouldn't be leaving to win. He'd be leaving to chase a paycheck.
