People getting a random sickness during the winter? It's almost certainly a conspiracy!
-
I'm actually surprised how well people have responded around here as a whole. Usually I can hear traffic sounds off in the distance, but that's completely gone. Yeah, that's a completely unscientific look at it, but that tells me that people as a whole really are staying in. The one thing that must be rough though is that one family just moved into the neighborhood today. So they have the movers, guys who they probably don't know a thing about, unloading the truck and probably sweating all over everything. You have to move when you have to move, but the timing is definitely not ideal for them.

The college free agents are still getting a handle on their exact situations right now, with their season unexpectedly coming to an end. There's been maybe a handful of these signings so far. And this one is what most of those typically are, crap shoot long term projects with no fanfare. Most of them will be just what you described, mediocre. But that doesn't mean the teams shouldn't be making them, especially when they have 6 open roster spots like Buffalo did prior to this signing. Signing a guy like this is not some sign that the GM is clueless. There is absolutely nothing else they can do right now.

They can think that all they want as long they don't think they're now immune and can do whatever the hell they want.

Anyone who recently had the flu is now going to think it was this instead. It's always interesting to see the paths speculation follows during a large scale news story.

The first annual Sabrespace skype call.

You don't need to multiply it.? But yeah, I'd imagine they'll just rank it by points per game.

That’s putting it mildly. That garbage has absolutely no place here. I’m amazed the post is still here.

He looks like a heavier version of a guy I used to play hockey with. The look is damn near identical.

I know how I'm spending my time during the pseudo-quarantine.

Wow, Bruce Willis has really let himself go. Oddly enough, I think I'd actually watch the next Die Hard movie if that guy was in it.

What, no Star Wars paraphrasing? Hurt I am.

And let's face it, we have a good number of people around here who already question the practice of vaccination. Can you imagine their reaction if one gets fast tracked without the normal regulation? I suppose there's always going to be the people who will find conspiracy in anything (just read this thread), so that will just be one more thing that some jump on. Internet memes, where spelling goes to die.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
shrader replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
We started Jack Ryan this weekend. I think I have two episodes left in the first season. It's really well done, I just wish the episodes were a bit longer. -
So could it just be a difference between asphalt and ice?

Worst case scenario: you won't need to buy TP for quite a while either.
-
A neighbor shared a picture from that Costco yesterday. Did I see an entire wall of bottled water in the back of that store? That portion of this craze makes even less sense to me than the TP run. Do they think all of their faucets suddenly stop working? And speaking of Wegman's, they can't build that one here soon enough. That one will be walkable for me.

And that's only because the postponement allows them to skip out on their annual March swoon.

Until you have to go to the store to pick up a random item. Then you'll care if people aren't calm. The run on stores is truly a sight to behold. Yesterday I stopped to pick up a box of spaghetti for dinner at a store that would have maybe 3 customers at that time. Each of their 5 or 6 registers had lines of 3+ people each with full shopping carts. And of course it's those highly necessary items like bottled water since all of our faucets are now broken. Just my luck, I wound up next to the super chatty old guy who wanted to know my life story. You try staying calm when an old guy is rambling on and on about how back during the war they used to wear onions on their belt because it was the style at the time. One lady did get things right though. Her full shopping cart? Nothing but alcohol... they kind you actually get to drink, not the homemade hand sanitizer variety.

There's a fine line between fearless and reckless.

I'm pretty sure he's responding to the whackjob conspiracy theories that were being floated around by someone living in another country. So most of us here can't really speak for the information sources available there.

If the season does wind up shortened by any amount, are us center ice subscribers entitled to a refund of some sort? Personally I think this whole thing falls under the Forest Gump “it happens” label and we’re SOL, but I wonder if they’ll do anything.

One other thing was lost in that initial post. If the overal mortality rate is 1%, but it’s 12-18% in the elderly, that means the mortality rate in non-elderly is less that 1%. The numbers need to average out. So while we do need to take action to protect the elderly, the rest are probably taking a greater risk doing certain every day risks like driving.

The recommendation on how the general public should use masks does not apply to everyone. Those with impaired immune function, in this case people who have recently recovered from cancer treatment, are not the general public. They do need to protect themselves more than the average person.
