  1. I'm having a fence put in and 811 came out today to mark all the underground lines in my yard. I know exactly where my power line is due to previous work and whoever came out marked it wrong. Thank god I do know where it is because the fence workers (and me too) would have been in for a very rude awakening if they dug based on these markings.
  2. I think it's the kind of deal that you make if you are trying to make a deep run into the playoffs. We're just trying to get there. If Kane really wants to come here, I wait until free agency. The defense is the only position I'd be upgrading through trade at this point, mostly because I don't see a goalie deal coming. The kids up front need to be making this run together at this point and the expiring contracts of Girgensons and Okposo aren't going anywhere at this point.
  3. The United States does not have a Secretary of Labour.
  4. That is how it has always been. Now that you ask about it, I realize that I never even thought twice about it and don't have an explanation for why they do it that way. I'm guessing it's just because that was the easiest way to sneak a tournament into an ongoing season.
  5. You don't realize the power you have. Just picture the pure chaos I cause when I step on an ant in my backyard.
  6. The problem with listing 3 players as model 2nd liners is that there are still 29 other teams out there.
  7. How about a team that knows they're a lot better in OT and shootouts than they are at 5 on 5 hockey? Even if somehow the players don't realize that, the coaching staff sure as hell does and will tweak the game plan and ice time late to salvage that tie. Just look how overtime hockey changed the second the bonus point was established... even before the switch to 3 on 3. OT was horribly boring most nights back when there were ties. Once they added that point, teams loosened up in OT and started taking chances. When you change rules, the teams adapt to that and change.
  8. That has to be the one where my parents were yelling at me for shaking the table.
  9. Of course it does. The easiest to believe scenarios are down the stretch, the so called "when every point matters" point of the season (every point matters all year). If you're a handful of points away from locking up a spot, you're not doing anything to risk losing that one point you're already on pace to get.
  10. These direct conversions are meaningless though. With a different set of scoring rules, teams change the way they approach the games. The most obvious one would be that currently in a tied game in the last 10 minutes or so, teams play for the tie.
  11. They should do it as a winter classic at one of these northern locations. I’d rather see that instead of real games outdoors.
  12. The other hockey East schools used to chant “husky women” at northeastern. UCONN wasn’t in the league at that point. I’m now picturing these two fanbase a chanting it back and forth at each other.
  13. Both teams are huskies.
  14. In terms of points per game, Tage Thompson is producing at 156% of what he did last year. That's way more than 110%.
  15. My house is new construction. It's amazing how much was caught on an inspection. They mass produce these damn things and cut every corner imaginable. It's been 7.5 years now and I'm still finding the random "I can't believe they did that" spots.
  16. Yeah, I was thinking of two possibilities as I read it. For the person flipping the house, you either have a person who either knowingly hires crappy contractors or has no idea about the quality of the work. At the end of the day though, I don't care how hot the market is, if someone won't allow an inspection, they're more than likely looking to cut corners.
  17. Which expansion era are they talking about, the initial one in 68 (Philly and co.) or the one that started with the Sharks? I'd imagine that second one would be a boring list, but I've always thought of that one as its own expansion era.
  18. On top of the people trying to take advantage of someone, then you also have the tons of shoddy work that is out there.
  19. Yeah, if I'm told an inspection is a no go, I immediately think scam.
  20. Do ratings mean much of anything anymore now that so much is streamed?
  21. It has to be Bob Cole, right?
  22. Have most of the dud games at home been in front of the smaller crowds?
  23. How much of that position change is coaching genius vs. pure desperation? I'm not sure that I can get to the point where I'd say that no other coaching hire would have made the same move. He's a good fit for the group, but I don't want to throw all the credit his way. A coach doesn't change a team from one of the slowest in the league to one of the fastest.
  24. Maybe he’d come back to be our #2 center. Oh wait, he’s producing at the same rate as Cozens, so maybe that would be the #3 center.
