  1. I'll get over it, but yeah, I don't get why they added that white in there. It's not really necessary. Oh, and I still miss the old socks with a ton of stripes on them.
  2. They're probably not aiming more broadly than the Buffalo audience and going with the most recent time that logo was used.
  3. To be fair, anyone in China who thinks it was handled poorly is probably dead.
  4. He was a real nice guy too the one time I met him. A friend covered ECAC hockey, which was where Bob's kid played. He was regularly in touch with my friend, basically telling him to ignore the trolls that were harassing his work (there's a life lesson for everyone) and other talk about the conference. I was at a random game at Brown one year, my friend up in the press box. One of the intermissions he comes walking over to me with McKenzie in tow.
  5. Or it's a bad sign... heavily discounted
  6. Old School. Watch it.
  7. Hey wait a second. I barely ever post in hockey threads anymore. Actually, now that I think about it, you have a point.
  8. I only look for medical advice on an NHL board.
  9. You know, the biggest problem aside from the fact that it existed. I hope no one overlooks that part of your post because it's hilarious.
  10. Ahhh ok. I thought you were saying they were testing the same person over and over and the numbers were fluctuating a bit.
  11. The only debate I'm interested is between Frank the Tank and James Carville.
  12. I don't know a thing about how much body temp fluctuates or the precision of those thermometers, but I really don't see much fluctuation in the numbers you're showing. I'd start to wonder if I saw something like a 94 pop up, but those little changes you're mentioning scream device fluctuations to me. Now, if they're supposed to be more consistent than that, you're probably onto something with that "one minute between readings" thing. I've wondered about those thermometers a bit lately, about how sensitive they are and how quickly body temperature can swing. I've had my temperature taken twice with them recently and both times, I had just gotten out of my car that had been baking in the sun all day. It was maybe 5 minutes from home, so nowhere near enough time for the 10 year old car to be any less of an oven. Is that going to cause a higher temperature reading that my true internal temp? Sure, baking in the car probably won't alter that internal temperature much, but since the thermometer is reading right there on the skin, you would think it should get a higher reading. They never did tell me the results, so I'm left completely in the dark.
  13. This may be the first time you've ever spelled my name correctly. I hope everything's ok.
  14. Do the contracts get pushed back one year for anyone who opts out?
  15. Sometimes the wrong reason for some reason can still be a good reason.
  16. @atoq, you had an interesting note there towards the end that the press any medication is getting is undermining the social distancing. It's an interesting thought, but I really don't think it's much of a factor there. Those folks who don't take that seriously, they'd be doing it no matter what stories were out there. They may use some random treatment numbers as an excuse, but they'd just as easily find another excuse. It has much less to do with "I'm not at risk" and so much more to with with "you can't tell me what to do". If I was a medical researcher, check that, if I was driving medical research, the only miracle cure I'd be searching for is the one for stupid. I do wish though that more people I would actually read the actual studies, here and any other time, and not just run with what is reported on the news. There's no better sign of how broken that whole process is than just sitting and watching some day time TV, counting the number of ambulance chaser commercials you see, citing the latest association observed with any random disease (ok, usually cancer).
  17. At first when I saw the link, I thought it was saying that there are 19 doctors who are getting better at treating it. And no, I can't get through paywalls either.
  18. A completely randomized trial is great and all, but sometimes when you’re in the middle of the battle that’s just not how things are going to go. You’re not going to see any fancy setup at this point. They’re going to have to make do with the observational data. And if something is effective only in combination, that’s still a a good thing as long as you are getting that combination. You’ll find countless numbers of combined therapies around the medical field. It’s a freaking message board. Lighten up Francis.
  19. Paging Supreme Court Justice Smell, you have a call on the white courtesy phone. Justice Smell, white courtesy phone.
  20. I'm curious. You keep throwing the word cure out there. Is that the only bar you're aiming for here? If that's the case, you'll wind up saying the same exact things about every treatment being explored.
  21. And Robert Stack has been gone for a long time now, so most of those will have to remain unsolved.
  22. Your reasons above wouldn't be proof of the one from the gospels.
  23. It's not a great look, but at the same time, it almost feels expected to see these positive results at the start. If they have a good system in place (which baseball doesn't), things hopefully slow down after that initial surge in cases. Football at least has the luxury of getting that testing going well before the season actually starts.
  24. It's good to see that he's turned things around since his start at Penn State. It's a nice reminder that we tend to judge a lot of the prospects way too quickly. Even if he never goes anywhere from here, his status has improved dramatically over the last two years.
  25. You need to go with the lowercase g there.?
