  1. Basically. Has been a 4th line player on some quality playoff teams.
  2. I find it interesting and refreshing that Botterill seems to focus just as much on the bottom player on the roster as the top guys. It would be refreshing if the fourth line or last forward on the team makes a contribution, rather than just being the leftovers from not making the top lines. You see this in his focus on Rochester's roster as well. We'll see if it makes a difference.
  3. Obviously. It's Colorado.
  4. Stewart cares, I promise you.
  5. Exactly. He's finally trying lines that seem to make a little bit of sense, instead of ignoring our suggestions like DDB did all last year. We are smart, we are SabreSpaceTM
  6. Thanks for clarifying your posts. I agree - sales tax is on its own regressive, but the income tax is progressive (many will argue how progressive it should be). Just reminding that sales tax is a much larger piece of the pie for the poverty-middle class citizens, and can cause day to day hardship as a result. I don't want to stray too far into this discussion as we are getting dangerously close to the Politics thread stuff.
  7. Did everyone say they wanted to play with Jack?!?
  8. Exactly. There's a reason real estate markets look at local comps of recently sold homes to determine listing price. If someone pays that much for something, it is worth that much on the open market.
  9. To echo NS, a flat tax or a tax on consumable goods (i.e. sales tax) is naturally a regressive tax as it taxes a higher percentage of the poor's income than the wealthy. A poor person makes 20k a year, but still has to buy the same groceries, clothes etc. to live and is taxed on those purchases. The wealthy person makes 100k a year, and when they buy the same groceries and clothes, it is a significantly smaller portion of their income. Also, I worry that you are mis-representing the below quote since taxes are taken out of every paycheck, and hence paid throughout the year. Claiming 0 taxes or getting a rebate come April does not mean you haven't paid taxes.
  10. Only concern is I thought Antipin came over to play in the NHL, and was less likely to stay if he didn't make the team. Not sure how he would handle the 7th defenseman role. That and we should be a little more patient with his play early in camp, since he is acclimating to the USA, learning the system and english all at once.
  11. Thanks for the clarification. I remember Bogo playing with a better than expected partner (Scandella) in camp and I guessed wrong.
  12. I think this is where we are at, with the one exception that I thought McCabe has been playing with Bogo so far in training camp, so that might be our 2nd pair.
  13. He's 22 years old, so I don't think he's in the "he is what he is" territory yet. Also, his linemates last year were guys like Moulson and Deslauriers. I wouldn't be overly excited to pass it back to them either. I think there's more skill in there than you do, and i'd like to see him given the opportunity to show it.
  14. I agree. I really like the Girgs-ROR-Okposo line as the do everything line. There are three players that are hard to play against that can play against the opponents best.
  15. Not quite, I think it give Sam a chance at #3 C. My post from the Training Camp pinned thread: That says that Sam gets first shot at #3 center based on first training camp lines and they will try out multiple RW combos for him (Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching) to see what works best. then again it's only one day of camp :nana:
  16. So if we interpret the Group A and Group B top lines as the intended top two, we have: Girgensons-ROR-Okposo Kane-Eichel-Pominville Then we have the next two lines give an indication of Housley's thoughts: Pouliot-Reinhart-Moses (placeholder for whoever wins the 3rd RW battle?) Moulson-Larsson-Fasching That seems like a decent start and more along the lines of what we as SS board has been looking for. Is there any player that isn't above that we think should be there? I think Bailey & Baptiste are the obvious next choices, with Josefson as the 13th F?
  17. Didn't we trade Pominville to MIN for Larsson back in the day? I don't know why that just hit me, but that's an oddity.
  18. bwahaha my thoughts exactly. If Josefson is on the ice with Eichel we are in big trouble.
  19. And shower. The smell is getting a bit rank...
  20. Gotcha. I am hoping with a more aggressive system and better puck support from the team jack won't feel like he needs to do everything himself. If he can utilize his teammates more we can look more dangerous as a team. This would make him look more engaged throughout instead of picking his spots to carry the team himself. Dark has 32,000 posts. He cant be wrong :nana: We need to band together like Voltron to defeat him. With our posts combined...
  21. So if I understand correctly, you are thinking that Jack will produce at more than the nearly point per game pace he did last year? Or are you more focused on his perceived shift to shift interest level? i.e. that he looks more like a dominant player and relies less on his spurts of efforts within games to generate points. IMO it is an impossible standard for a player to go all out every shift and make it through an 82 game season, especially one of Jack's talent level.
  22. I think you mean healthy. He was pretty dominant when he played.
  23. First place in the AFC East. :flirt:
  24. I am definitely trying this over the weekend. Do you use a fancier Maple syrup or just your standard Aunt Jemima pancake syrup? I prefer double orange without the cherry on my old fashioned recipe for the record.
  25. Last few years it seems we have had negative surprises for players we thought were good that fell off the cliff. Here's hoping that this year the changes in staff and players will allow the guys we will rely on to play consistently. That and Sam Reinhart at Center will blow all of your minds. 3rd line scoring will be the surprise.
