    Someone in another thread mentioned that ROR is generally a slow starter for his first 10 games or so. The last few games have been much closer to what I expect from ROR every night.

    It sends the same message in the pros as it does in beer league. It takes a special kind of determination/crazy for a guy to keep coming back for more punishment for 60 minutes.

    At least Scandella looks good playing with Risto. We didn't anticipate the Beaulieu would look so lost and Antipin would be a healthy scratch so often.

    If they played at 90% of the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period for the whole game, we would be singing their praises for a fast start this year. It's inconsistent effort from my point of view that's the key problem.

    Good insight. I think back to your posts last year on Carolina doing this really well. They didn't have good players, but they always had at least two options for short safe passes to move the puck up the ice. Sabres still aren't sure where those outlets will be (both the passer and the passee) which is why they range from horrible turnovers to pretty possession.

    Good. These guys have been coasting on low expectations for years. The tank years made it easy to just show up for the games as they were expected to lose, now even though they are more talented, they look like they are still just showing up and expecting the wins to magically come.

    Exactly. I didn't have much hope they would entertain me given the play in the 2nd period. I got to watch the third period this morning before work and if they played like that I would watch them all day.

    I went to bed at the end of the second, and was 1) surprised to hear they came back and scored 3 to tie it up and 2) disappointed that even with that momentum they couldn't put it away in OT. For some reason I thought the Vancouver game was away, so now I am looking forward to to a 7pm start on Friday instead of 10pm. :thumbsup:

    Whose wife did Zemgus hit on? He has been one of the best players and has been good with Eichel and Pommers. :unsure:

    Sabres need to build on the momentum of the Anaheim game and give another strong showing. This will be a good test of how well we can execute the high-tempo style that Housley is preaching or whether we get sucked into the clogging style of VGK. Show some resiliency here and come out strong. Hoping Johnson is in net as the team seems to respond to his steady presence.

    I really expected a bunch of Yankees posts in this thread after last night, but its oddly silent. Did you all give up on the pinstripes? I can't stand when fans use "we" when referring to teams. It's a pet peeve of mine. Especially for Yankees fans in WNY who think they are the home team even though they are 6+ hours away and the 5th closest team geographically (Toronto, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit). It couldn't hurt. :flirt:
