GDT Sabres at Islanders 12/27/17 7PM MSG, GR
Samson's Flow replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I actually really like those lines with the exception that Wilson should be playing somewhere, maybe over Nolan. Great minds my WildCard friend... -
Do we really have to wait a whole 'nother 35 days to talk about it? Or did you mean to say Jan 1? At some point the continuation of the spoiler ban just prevents conversation.

The difference between Tolbert carrying the ball and Cadet (who was a mid-season addition poached from another team - i.e. JAG) is night and day, and unfortunately for the Tol-dozer he's not the winner of that comparison.

Especially the Buffalo Sabres logo that is on the right shoulder. Why does team USA need our logo to remind them they are in Buffalo?Middlestadt with some saucy mitts in that goal. Wow

I thought Beaulieu was one of our best defensemen last night, and was able to escape pressure effectively using his skating. I find it pretty baffling that we play guys like Gorges and Falk over Beaulieu on a consistent basis. If we want to talk about massive disappointments, McCabe has gone from Risto's partner on the top pairing to minimal impact train wreck. Oof.

Again, tough for a pass first facilitator to have much success when you are passing to such established finishers as Johan Larsson and Jordan Nolan :bag: Right - it's basically a group failure at this point. The only player that has exceeded my expectations is Evander Kane. Everyone else is under performing from what my expectations were at the start of the year.
-
Exactly. I'd argue this is the outlier not the new norm.

I think the 3rd line center experiment was worth trying out, to see if Reinhart would blossom in finally playing center. It didn't, and once that was recognized he should have immediately been in a top 6 wing role and not jerked around the rest of the year.
-
It's like they are throwing Buffalo a bone after screwing them over from a home game and making them wear stupid "New York" jerseys. Not like anyone here cares who the WC performers are though...
-
Not to be contrarian, but the APA League rules for 8 ball across the US and in the Vegas championships each year plays "ball in hand" for any Cue ball scratch save for the final 8 ball shot which is an immediate loss. Cue Ball in Hand Behind the Headstring is an antiquated rule IMO. http://poolplayers.com/8-9-ball-Rules.pdf Linky for confirmation.

I'm more interested in seeing Zemgus back up on line 2 and moving Pouliot away from ROR. Is there any rationale for this or are we just throwing things at the wall at this point?
-
People didn't know this? Geez. To your point, I always laugh when I see bar billiards games where players are intentionally scratching to put their opponent behind the "dot". That's not how it works...

Those were exactly the assumptions I was basing my comment on. If Kane is truly happy with this group and wants to come back, it is to the benefit of both parties to maximize his value. And since his hockey talents are not required for the last 30 games of this season for the Sabres, why not make the team better? -
The first Google link that gave me a list. I make no claim that this is the definitive list. Just a conversation starter... :)

That's what the quick analysis from Walter Football says. He has 8 other QB's ahead of Rudolph in his rankings. http://walterfootball.com/draft2018QB.php
-
I only listed him first because all your mentions has kept him top of my mind.

If Kane likes it so much here with his boys, there may be a chance to re-sign him in the summer after trading him. We bolster the team with a high pick and prospect(s) and he comes back ready to go again. I'm not saying he would take a discount, but if JBots thinks that he is a key piece I would still trade him and try to bring him back to maximize value. -
The thing that I am encouraged about is that we look poised to attempt to draft a QB in a draft where there are plenty of options. What you say about a particular guy doesn't matter much to me as we all have different opinions, but just knowing that there is the volume (Allen, Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold, Rudolph) means we aren't reaching for a bad QB based on need/scarcity. I think back to the Manuel draft year and Nix was determined to get a QB in a draft year that didn't have anyone worthy of a day 1 grade, so we picked the best guy from the scrap heap.

I was thinking about the Bills-iest scenario and it was definitely beating the Pats then losing to Miami. Reminds me of the "Beat the Steelers Backups" game a few years ago that they blew.
-
If we somehow make the playoffs and then get rid of Taylor next year that might be to Billsy for me to take. Seriously he's the one guy who has gotten us close to playoffs each of the last few years and we still want to run him out of town. Yes he isn't perfect, but we have been a competitive team with him.

My friends went to the 10:30 Thursday pre-opening night one and it was full for that one. We went Friday at 7pm and it was maybe 50 people, which is a good showing until you realize that theater probably has seats for 200+. It was still a good time

I think it would be absolutely foolish not to draft a QB this year, given we are positioned to do so with multiple draft picks and no clear long term answer at QB. That being said, this strategy does not mean we need to immediately start the new QB and jettison Tyrod. I would prefer the strategy of Alex Smith/Mahommes or even further back Favre/Rodgers where the heir can sit and learn the system for a year or two so they are ready to go when the time comes.

I thought is was just fine. The theater is huge, and we sat in the center-middle so we had a great view. Ironically this may be one of the few theaters where the front few rows aren't utter dogsh!t viewing, since it is less of a slope than modern theaters. It's basically a stage theater for concerts and plays that now has a giant movie screen on the stage, so there isn't really a bad seat anywhere. TL:DR My wife is blind and had no complaints on her viewing experience.

Saw it on Friday night at the North Park Theater. I really enjoyed the movie and was glad that they managed to make this one feel more original in terms of plot. But mostly I came here to say that the North Park theater is effing gorgeous and and a pretty cool throwback movie experience. Certainly doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the new Regal/AMC theaters, but it was a genuinely fun experience. I'm really glad they put in the effort to remodel and bring back that gem on Hertel. Will discuss more Star Wars after the spoilers ban.
