  1. Both the Explorer and 500 had something break on them that was more costly than just buying a new used car. No I'm not spending 2k to replace the transmission when the new-to-me G6 only cost $4,500. I wasn't even mad when I had my uncle take the old 500 to the scrap yard and give me a couple hundred bucks since the investment is so minimal. Again to each their own, but I really expect even when I am old and financially secure i'll still be driving used 10 year old cars.
  2. To your point, even the best draft predictors will still get a large percentage wrong if you go off future demonstrated value. As shown by actual sports teams drafting ability, the paid professionals miss at a fairly regular rate. If anyone was able to predict draft success at even one standard deviation better than the "experts" that would be pretty valuable.
  3. I've always bought cars outright at far cheaper than I could afford if I wanted to get a fancy car. Usually at least 5 years old and closing in on 100k miles. The benefits of not having a car payment have always far outweighed looking cool and having a nice car. YMMV, but I can't stand losing wealth by buying a new car that depreciates the second I drive it - i'll let some other guy absorb that first 50% value loss. Then again, my vehicles in order have been a '99 Ford Explorer, '05 Ford 500 and '07 Pontiac G6. Not exactly panty-droppers
  4. Yep that's the quote/article. Thanks Indeed it was. But prime Vick in reality looked like he was playing Madden sometimes, where defenders would miss him entirely and he was the only guy with the sprint button pressed.
  5. Mike Vick himself has said that if anyone is going to replicate his success, it will be Lamar Jackson.
  6. No comment on Zay. Kelvin will be always open this year once he can play on two legs instead of a bum knee. The WR core as a whole looks bad because it's hard to look good on two targets a game. Shady and Clay are surely our leading receivers and targets ( I didn't look up the stats but I can't imagine being wrong). It's kind of chicken/egg - do the WRs look bad because they don't get thrown to or are they not getting thrown to because they aren't open and are actually bad?
  7. What could possibly go wrong? Columbus is a good NHL team and the Sabres are... a team that happens to play in the NHL. :bag:
  8. Excellent - sounds good. The Wedding industry is certainly one where even normal couples seem to go hog-wild with the expenses to make that special day. Do you have a specific link or information site you can point to? I have some twenty something friends that are getting married soon that might be interested in something like that. :flirt:
  9. Maybe my naivety is showing, but how exactly would you be using your talents for weddings? Are we talking custom wedding invites/save the dates or something else entirely. Either way, glad to hear you've found a potentially high demand area for your work
  10. I'll keep watching looking for signs of life from this team, and while the results have been better lately I still don't see them dominating the play enough to consistently win. Watching the good teams in the World Juniors it is clear how far we need to go to be a winning NHL team. WJC Canada, USA and Sweden are noticeably better than every other team and dominate possession and convert that into dangerous scoring chances.
  11. Yes but is it gamesmanship in we want Jax thinking he's playing when there is really no hope or is it we know he's healthy enough to play but we don't want to show anyone how healthy that is?!
  12. Did Reinhart just throw a hit?
  13. Happy New year you filthy animals
  14. I don't have words right now. I was a child the last time the bills were in the playoffs. I still don't really believe it or what I saw today. Poppin bottles
  15. I know I'm all ready to go and now I still have to wait 3 more hours
  16. Ghost town in here too. Game started 30 mins ago and not a word on what's happening.
  17. This is what I was getting at earlier. Because CGI can do anything now, I get the sense that a lot of scenes are designed specifically to show off the pretty CGI that is coming rather than tell the story or progress the story. I can think of a few specific examples:
  18. Bravo. Put the finger on a lot of the things that just didn't feel right to me. That said, I was still generally entertained by the movie once I realized it was more Marvel comics and less Star Wars. My theory is that the modern graphics technology has removed the limitations in terms of what they can do, so now the story goes from normal with ships & lightsabers to bat insane/not rooted in reality.
  19. Quite the lively GDT thread here today. 7 posts by noon. Oh how I long for competitive hockey. :bag:
  20. It really seems like everytime we are in the market to sell it is always a buyers market which really depresses the value of our return. Maybe this is the year that we are selling at the right time and get prime value.
  21. That's the highest of high bars. :bag:
  22. Given the lackluster ticket sales, I was kind of banking on that when I bought the $15 tickets to Saturday's Finland-Slovakia game rather than the $40 100 levels that my wife wanted
  23. Good stuff by our resident marathon post writer Randall Flagg. I can't argue with any of it, but expecially agree on the player usage and Girgensens stuff. I would love to see Zemgus play 3rd forward for a top line for an extended stretch.
  24. I bought that book in paperback at an airport and read the whole thing on a long flight. I remember it being pretty entertaining
  25. I like your optimism, but just a reminder the Titans might have the best "backup" RB in the league in Derrick Henry, so may not be as big of a drop as your post indicates. That said, the Bengals are our best hope and given the way Dalton has sucked the last few weeks i'm not too optimistic.
