Yep they're going to give the token effort to pepper then with shots but ultimately still no goal

He did. As he was saying it you could tell he knew it was coming out wrong but he couldn't figure out how to save it

That was the Sabre-iest way to lose the lead I've ever seen.

Agreed.

Plus once we trade EK we will never have to see the the debate over Jack and Evander on the same line.

Thread for NS to wish people happy birthdays.

I think we should just rename this thread to "NS talks to himself"... more descriptive thread titles help the community :nana: -
One loss after a 3 game winning streak and let's blow up the top line. JFC. Eichel has been better than a point per game player over the last few weeks but let's change his linemates again. I don't get it.

To be fair, Butler was a former DC and is highly respected as a DB coach and was reportedly only let go from Houston as part of Bill O'Brien's master plan to be the only coach left in Houston. I don't see this as solely nepotism. That said, Gil Byrd seemingly did a great job with the secondary this year, so it does seem odd.

To give the benefit of the doubt, maybe the Bills internally knew how they wanted to handle the cap implications, but got word from the NFL that if Wood officially announces his retirement, the team gets in a bind on a technicality. To avoid said scenario, they made sure Wood said nothing in his PC until they get further clarification from the NFL. Or they just up.

See this is where they suck us all back in and then put up a stinker. As the immortal Dennis Green said "They are who we thought they were, and we let em off the hook!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWmQbk5h86w- 212 replies

I think they had the press conference scheduled like two weeks ago, and this development only came up in the last few days. Must have been easier to keep the original press conference and just say nothing than cancel the whole thing.

If you can manage to only get a little of everyone's virus then you can build up your immune system into a bad-a$$ super soldiers so you never get sick... ... or you manage to get the plague and we never see you again. Good luck man!

Woof. If that is anywhere near what the real story is that's a pretty bad P.R. look from our Buffalo Bills. I thought at first it was just a logistics holdup for cap considerations, but it may be more OSP-like than I originally thought.

No worries man. If that's what constitutes an argument, then maybe we are turning into the snowflake generation. Like I said I know a small handful of people that have an emotional reaction to this announcement, but for everyone else the emotions seem to range from apathy to empathy for this particular cause.

I just listed the Native American based ones I could think of. By no means am I saying that all mascots/logos are created equally. There is probably nothing wrong with the Seminoles and Chiefs, but as a 30 yr old white male from Buffalo, who am I to judge that? It came to my attention during the Washington Redskins name controversy in 2013/2014. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/09/03/daniel-snyder-on-the-redskins-name-controversy-the-truth-is-on-our-side/) And like I said, locally the same conversation happened within the last 5 years in Lancaster.
-
Locally (WNY) the Lancaster Redskins had a big debate a few years back to see if they should change their name. Seems they finally changed it to the "Lancaster Legends" since then. The use of Native American imagery in sports has been a topic that has come up fairly often in the last decade after being used continuously with little debate prior to that.

Sometimes that's a cache issue. It is strange. I like the E Wood tribute - very nice!
-
Logically we shouldn't stop there. Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, Florida St. Seminoles, KC Chiefs are all native american based mascots that have derogatory images as mascots/logos. Who decides what is acceptable or not? A caricature of the point:

We're not friends.

I think it is more about considering the June 1 impacts and cap considerations. Wood is playing ball with the team to find the least punitive cap implications. “Waived-injured” and “physically unable to perform” carry entirely different connotations than “retired” and offer different cap relief scenarios as well. Since Friday, everyone has been discussing cap ramifications in terms of retirement only. Bills are potentially being smart here.
-
That Wood press conference was very odd. Delayed nearly an hour and lasted a few minutes max. Leads me to believe the team is trying to identify the best way to mitigate the cap hit.

A co-worker of mine is very upset about this news. Something about baseball tradition is ruined now that the Cleveland mascot is going away.

As a proud alumnus of SUNY Geneseo, I will note that Pizza Paul's was the choice of many a drunken college kid for late night eats, so that may be where the vomit came from. That said, most of the students I knew (including myself) preferred Mamma Mia's to Pizza Paul's for the 2am slice.

DEADLINE DAY -- Sabres trade speculation
Samson's Flow replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Not even one letter?!?! -
Just saw that as well. Glad that they caught it when they did and that Wood will seemingly be able to life a normal life going forward. 32 is plenty young :)
