Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
Samson's Flow replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
A co-worker recommended Billions to me a few weeks back, which I then binge watched and finished 3 seasons (current) since then. Very compelling characters and storyline, and the bitter & vindictive nature of Giamatti really makes the show. Frankly i'm a little sad that now that I'm current I have to wait each week to catch the next episode. -
I read that tweet/article as well. I also think it might be attributed to the BN Bills Blitz paywall which means I'm not reading any of the dozens of articles that the Buffalo News writers are putting out on how OTA's and training camp is going. The thing is that I really kind of want to know how our QB situation is progressing through each practice, and I legitimately can't find any information.
-
Getting back to the Bills - I find it interesting that this year seems really quiet in terms of OTA news compared to past years. I would have expected with the rookie franchise QB in tow now we would have a media frenzy dissecting his every move. Maybe it is the changing of the guard from prior front offices (or the departure of Brandon?)

Casey Mittelstadt, what will his rookie year be
Samson's Flow replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I was thinking about this the other day since the jokers on WGR were talking about how he could be the rookie of the year this year. I think they were smoking something as they were talking 60pts, him replacing ROR and being in the Barzal conversation (potential ROY this year w/ 80+ pts). Schopp & Bulldog are obviously required to make some "hot takes" in order to generate discussion. I think your estimate of middle six players and lines with 30-40pts is about what we should be expecting. Anything more is gravy. -

You've seen me in person LTS. My hair isn't in the same league as Taro and Woody. :bag: -
I am generally indifferent about the Politics thread and/or accompanying discussion within other threads when appropriate. I consider myself mature enough to read and understand multiple opinions on a message board without getting too worked up. Sometimes I skip posts when the topic doesn't interest me - no offense meant. I would prefer that we have the opportunity to discuss whatever current events topics are on hand, but recognize the mod's perspective to attempt to limit/prevent animosity. The phenomenon with this board in particular is that I am genuinely interested and invested in what goes on in many of your lives, and as such want to hear about your perspectives on far more than just Hockey. Much of what has kept me coming here even while the Sabres have been utter dog shite of a team is the people, where a melting pot of regions and cultures were brought together as a result of their interest our Buffalo hockey team. - i'm interested in hearing about Josie and Dark and their struggles to live in two separate towns, the under-appreciation for art and how to make a living for a clearly talented artist. Through them sharing I have evolved my personal view and have gained a new perspective. - hearing about woody's travels and the bachelor lifestyle he chooses to lead, while also gaining insight that my initial perspective of career success can accompany increased challenges with work/life balance and burnout. This insight has made me re-focus on the areas in my life that I truly want to focus on. - interactions with my fellow Jays fan in NS has informed me of the Islamic culture and the teachings in the Quran. Through understanding I have been able to challenge the American stereotype of this religion and culture, and I am incredibly grateful for that. - without this forum when in my life would I ever get to interact with the MODO's of the world, or the posters we have from Europe and the UK? I have gained much from learning there is more out there than just our US-centric views. A common interest in hockey has made this a small world. - I appreciate those of you that choose to lead a more private lifestyle as well, as in this age of oversharing it is still possible to maintain relative anonymity while still providing insight. (Eleven, Liger etc.) - Understanding how those of us that live out of market (Randall's move to OK, Neo & Co in Florida, Bio in CO, Buno in the PNW, our Chicken-headed friend in TX) still have interest in the Sabres and don't lose that, but also develop their own interests and hobbies that through sharing helps me to understand who they are what life is in those regions. There are plenty more (and I think this post is already ramble-y enough) but all of these diverse perspectives on this forum help me to shape and evolve my own mindset. It helps me shape my own opinion(s), or call myself out when my ideas aren't fully fleshed out or are lacking in understanding. Most of all it has taught me that there are other ideas out there besides the ones in your personal echo-chamber, and that conflicting viewpoints aren't inherently wrong or ill-informed, but can come from a different world view that should be engaged and understood with civility. Essentially, I will plagiarize our friend Neo - Grateful.

I will probably go as well, but I plan on picking up my own aftermarket ticket this time. I appreciate all you do to facilitate TW, but i've made the decision that until the Sabres turn this ship around, they won't be getting my money (or at least as little as possible). This will probably be the only game I attend in person, just because I like you losers :nana: -
I was incredibly impressed with Neal's goal. Tipping the puck out of mid-air past the dman and then being so poised and sniping top corner was nasty. If Holtby doesn't make that miracle save late, I think Vegas takes game 2 in OT. They were rolling as the Caps were doing all they could just to survive late.

I guess that's the benefit with not having to waste your interviews on 1st round prospects. We know we're picking Dahlin #1, so lets focus on mining a diamond in round 2.

That's what I came here to say as well. #donglover is not what you meant it to be (or maybe it is ) -

I had the same issue on Sunday. Had a limo bus bar hop for a friends birthday that started at 1 and ended at 6ish. I was very jarring to leave the last bar and walk out into daylight, and then be at Jim's Steakout at 7pm as opposed to 2am. Tried to ride the buzz through the night until bedtime, but that made understanding 'Westworld' far more challenging.

I would agree with Eleven on this one. I am all for going to next year's game with you guys, but I don't think i would buy into Tom Webster's ticket group, and I would pick up a group of tickets online for market value. As much fun as it is spending time with strangers from the internet, the sting of spending $100 on a ticket that you can get for 1/5th that on gameday isn't a sounds business practice. This is a valid counterpoint as well. -
Mittelstadt Signed ELC with Sabres reports directly to Buffalo
Samson's Flow replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Certainly have better pedigree on the defense side. I keep thinking back to the Chicago team model, and maybe we had Reinhart and Risto mis-cast as Toews and Keith. Maybe they were more like Sharp and Seabrooke, and we still needed our other studs that came in later drafts. -
Don't act like you're not impressed...

I know you were going for the Australia analogy on this one, but I'm having a hard time picturing "dead and dusty" and "sexy" at the same time. I keep ending up with an image of an old lady who looks like the crypt keeper :death:

I think it was more a commentary on despite being beautiful with awesome national parks and scenery, there's also a lot of rural crazies, poly-amorous mormons and other unique sects of people that can only be found in Utah. Also this: https://www.ksl.com/?sid=23777279 "More recently, a man was photographed at a Utah JCPenney store Wednesday openly carrying an semi-automatic rifle over his shoulder. While not illegal in the state of Utah, many shoppers were concerned about the situation, whether legal or not."

Also I had to look up what "SJW" meant, so not sure if that indicates my dis-engagement on this subject or not. I'm apparently not up on the latest acronyms yo. (FYI it's Social Justice Warrior)

The one thing I am encouraged with is when the fans were rumbling about the arena experience and improvements, they generally fell on deaf ears with prior administrations until Kim took it upon her and the PSE team to try to fix it. Now, not everything that was done was successful or made a difference, but there was at least some recognition that they understood what the fans were asking for. I see her going after the quick wins and things the business side can control (Think Nashville or Vegas fan experience vs. current Sabres game day) to improve the overall event. The biggest thing will always be having a talented winning team, but at least we have another shot at having the business side folks "stay in their lane" and work on arena/events/experience stuff. I can't say that Brandon's time as President had many decisions that were popular with the fans, despite keeping the team in Buffalo (if you give him credit for that). It often seemed he did whatever he felt was best, regardless of what the fan base had asked for.

Thanks Josie. Lots of good context and points in there. You brought up one thing that we haven't mentioned much, and that is how the gossip train wants to discover and talk about who the woman in question was who caused the eventual termination. It's a product of our social media world where we expect that we should know every aspect of a very private situation. It's good enough for me to know that Brandon is a seemingly grimy guy and based on first-hand source conversations i've had with co-workers and friends, I believe it 100%. I don't need to know that Jane Doe had a relationship with him (consensual or otherwise) because I really don't care - does it change anything about the story other than judging her and her physical appearance. Doesn't matter if it's Roseanne Barr or Gisele Bundchen, it still comes down to Russ had enough strikes to convince the Pegulas to ask for his resignation and never mention his name or thank him after the initial announcement. I've had plenty of quality interactions with Josie as a poster, but i'll leave it at that. ...not that it matters...

I just knew there would be gems here boys. Was not disappointed. My wife casually mentioned Brandon was out when I got home from work. Needless to say she was very surprised how excited I was for another man losing his job. GTFO

Holy Mackerel! Sabres Win Dahlin Lottery!
Samson's Flow replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
As Pedro Cerrano would say: "I'm pissed off now, Jobu. Look, I go to you. I stick up for you. You no help me now. I say " you Jobu", I do it myself." -
Allen is on WGR right now, and that was literally the first thing he said. :wallbash: I am rooting for the kid, he seems like a well spoken poised guy. I just can't get over the feeling that I don't think he can actually play QB well. If we were casting a hollywood movie for a QB, he'd be the guy I cast if that helps. All of the QBs have flaws. Dahlin was always the prize. If it takes picking Allen to let us land Dahlin, I will take that. For me that is a better alternative to Rosen/Svechnikov

I will admit the Senior Bowl tape there looks good. Nice throws right where they needed to be. I just can't get over the terrible tape from his Wyoming games all season. Unless his teammates were really that awful Agreed 100%. Edmunds would have been a great pick in the top ten
