  1. Smell - I have a lot of the same questions you do, and am glad you are voicing them appropriately. I'm all for people being whoever it is they want to be, but on this issue I often struggle with what exactly it is that is the end goal. To not be ostracized for dressing differently or acting outside of the societal norm for "boy" and "girl"? Or is it something more that I just can't relate to since I am perfectly happy being a traditional male?
  2. I came in here to say that the biggest thing I am concerned about with the latest SCOTUS retirements and nominations is the decision on Roe v. Wade and the change in abortion legalization. This is a drastic divergence from the established policies of much of the developed world, and could turn into a huge voting motivator for the younger public at the next election cycle. I fear the Roe v. Wade decision will make our political landscape even more divisive in the next few years. Exactly. This conservative SCOTUS is bound to piss off a lot of Millennial voters and motivate them to make changes through their vote in order to change the course. One of the biggest things in American Politics is to avoid giving your opponents something to rally behind to incite their voting base. If there isn't record turnout for the midterms coming up, then I don't know what will do it. I think enough people are seeing what happens when they pull the ostrich in the sand strategy...
  3. Well that's because Russia is typically not a name we recognize as a World Cup power team. I think they are overachieving riding the home fans energy. They were on the defensive a lot in the Spain game. That's my thought as well. I think it is another Brazil year.
  4. Exactly. This is a perilous time to be a aging prospect that is running out of AHL/waiver options. We finally seem to have enough true NHL players to field a roster that we no longer are gifting spots to AHL guys out of necessity. If you are making this team you are earning it.
  5. I'm always down to bring in more quality wingers from playoff teams as cap casualties ?
  6. So is the intent to use the clubs rather than these OT threads? I don't mind either way, and appreciate the ability to have multiple topics within a club topic
  7. I like France, Brazil, England and Croatia to advance. That said, I will be rooting for Belgium and Sweden, but I don't think that's likely to be the outcome
  8. That would be the most England thing to do. Finally break the shootout curse only to mess it up in an even more embarrassing way. Losing 5-0 to Sweden or something
  9. Looks really great. Thanks for all you do SDS!

  11. This is excellent IKP and makes me feel less pessimistic about the trade than I had reading the previous 26 pages. If Berglund can fill the defensive center role, that leaves Jack and Casey to play the scoring center roles. You know, like actual team building.
  12. You didn't let it out in the slightest. I'm lamenting that is near impossible to not find out the score in the digital age. My phone has score alert pop ups for chistsakes.
  13. To get back on the thread topic... ...baseball, football, soccer, tennis, cricket, rugby, golf, volleyball are all 'other sports' The summer sports lineup is baseball, golf, random college sports. When the NFL Network is showing "AFFL" flag football in an empty high school stadium and FS1 is showing Ice Cube's BIG3 basketball league with washed up former NBA'ers, its kind of tough to generate much new discussion on these random sports
  14. I sort of hate that the game times fell in the middle of the day. Every Round of 16 game I have attempted to not find out the score, only to inevitably find it out, and then 'pity watch' the game later that night already knowing what happens. I'm trying really hard to be excited and care, but failing miserably.
  15. Well I mean... the ball does bounce. :bag: I for one greatly enjoy hearing your Yankees misery every Sonny Gray start. It is cathartic for my spiraling turd of a Blue Jays season. Vlad Jr. and Bichette can't get here soon enough.
  16. This is... not as awful as I thought it would be. Hope Hutton can continue his solid play from last year and not revert to every other season he's ever played
  17. Botterill just hates younger Canadians. This guy is too old to count. Youze guys need to get the narrative straight.
  18. This week we had playoffs for both of my beach volleyball leagues, and glad to say my team took home the league title in both the co-ed and men's divisions. Now we have to decide when to use the the $50 bar tab that is the prize for each league win ($100 total). My liver says that I can't survive one night using up both tabs (dive bar = cheap drinks) but younger me says to give it a whirl :flirt:
  19. I guess I wouldn't hate a 3x3 deal. I'd still prefer 2 yr but that's not the worst. Much less happy if the dollars start creeping up toward $4M/yr.
  20. I don't know, there's been a lot of smoke. I can't believe all that would just be us signing their UFA former goalie.
  21. Yeah I mean in my mind: $3Mx2yr Sheary + $2.25Mx2yr Hunwick >>> Jack Johnson $3.5x5yr Guess they got a bigger boat and need a bigger anchor
  22. Gulp. It will be even worse when Mrazek and Bernier get 2x2 deals for the same middling production. Seems being the shiniest turd in the FA market gets you paid.
  23. Listening to the Pittsburgh beat guys, they keep speaking to his "leadership" and "good vet for the room" which translates to them not wanting to speak ill of a player and sounds like a repeat of our Josh Gorges role of the past season. Hunwick is the boat anchor that got us Sheary for free.
