I know. Like I said I think your trade was very fair and I have no issue with it. Just saying in theory something seems amiss. In response to the keeper league thing, in a lot of my baseball keeper leagues the deadline has some major rd. 1 talents traded for promising rookies drafted late because we keep players at the pick they were drafted. It's funny to see a Troy Tulowitzki for Michael Pineda trade straight up where everyone is saying the guy who got Pineda robbed him... Edit: and seeing as you picked up Bernier as your second goalie looks like i'll be hoping LA gives up 5 goals a game for this week. :P -

d4rk, as the guy who is playing you this week to keep my playoff seed I will say that the trade was exceptionally fair in my mind in terms of the players transferred. I think the complaints are more from the seedings of the parties involved. Trades from the past week (seedings in parenthesis) Filet o' Fish (1) -> kassian_future (16) nobody (5) -> Calvin's Knughts (12) DeLuca 67's (6) -> Calvin's Knughts (12) Calvin's Knughts and kassian_future were out of playoff contention and traded their players to teams that were well in the playoffs. What is preventing the teams out of the playoffs from getting lesser return since thier season ends in less than a week? -
Everytime I come into this thread the first thing I want to post is 'boobs'. For some reason I stop myself everytime... ... glad to see i'm not the only one

Fantasy sports is supposed to be about fun. What's the fun (at least to me) in having no trades? It's the guys that don't play all year then come in at deadline time and make a Malkin for MAG and Stafford deal that we are trying to eliminate... That being said the trades made at the deadline by cellar dwellers wer at least somewhat fair so its not as big of a deal. Still if Staal single handedly eliminates me I will flip a sh!t I stayed out of it based on principles alone. It's a pretty well known fantasy taboo IMO... -

thanks, i'm a pretty seasoned baseball/football fantasy player and the techniques are pretty universal. Get the most talented players you can find and hope that they perform up to their capabilities... it's still not over yet and since Filet made a trade I have to play a hot Staal two weeks in a row. :wallbash: -

Tell me about it... after taking over that team midway through the year it took me a good five weeks to get all the dead weight off my roster. However, if there were unlimited moves I would probably be at about 100 moves since I can't stop tinkering my team. It's an obsession... -

I know. I've been jockeying for him to rest his starters like Green Bay did this past year. Wouldn't want them to get hurt :nana: -
Well done Taro, you never cease to amaze me how you can add value to any post...

Although it has allowed us both to make late charges into the playoffs in the gold league  -
To me Stevie Johnson is a lot more Deion Sanders than TO/Randy Moss in terms of his antics. More of a showman and entertainer than a real 'throw me the ball' type cancer. The former can be corrected a lot easier than the latter.

I agree, unless it is a keeper league this is usually a big issue in more serious leagues. I know this is only a league amongst sabre fans on the message board but bottom third teams should just stay out of trading IMO. -

Finally have completed my charge from cellar dweller to playoff contender. Made the 8 seed this week after going 12-2-2 and 11-4-1 the last two weeks. Hopefully I can hold on against the #1 Filet o' Fish this week to keep my playoff spot. He could just be nice and rest all his starters like top seeds in the NFL... :) -
Which reminds me, even though I requested to be local all next week, the boss just put me on a job in Michigan all next week that I just 'had' to be on. It's frustrating being at the mercy of the man upstairs...

I like what I saw out of Hodgson last night. I wasn't expecting him to instantly be a world beater (actually I would have been a little worried if he was - another Bernier/Torres). I could definitely see his hockey sense and there were quite a few times I noticed him tie up a trailing winger on the break to stop a scoring chance. That was impressive to me since he had only been with the team a day or so. He generated scoring chances for Ennis and Stafford. Hope he keeps improving for us going forward.
-
Especially since that wild night was during a stretch when the Sabres were sucking and there were no games for a bit. We all needed some light-hearted posting...
-
I think McC is still on the shelf, but I just wanted to point out that we have plenty of guys to fill that 4th line winger slot without having to waste Adam in that spot. He needs ice time and to succeed in the AHL.
-
Where does Ellis and McCormick go? I like the center pairings - i'd like to see Roy on the third line since he is the best defensive center of the three (unless Hodgson is really that much of a 2 way). Keep Adam in ROC to give him some serious ice time and confidence.
-
Kassian is far and away the player I would have rather traded. Myers is a Hodgson-esque prospect. You don't trade those away :nana:
-
Right. And being the third line center behind Sedin and Kesler isn't like he is terrible. Those are two pretty good names that he is playing behind...
-
I don't think they do. I doubt many of the timmays have even looked up who the return was. They saw we lost Kassian (our top prospect) and instantly figured we got fleeced...
-
Well look on the bright side, we might be the best team in the league at no-contact pond hockey soon! ;)
-
That's why I don't understand why some people are flipping. We traded our best prospect who in his NHL experience looked very raw and seemed to have little hockey sense for a better prospect who has scored 33 pts this year in his rookie year and a position of need in center. Yes it would have been great to package gragnani, ellis and a pick for Hodgson and keep Kassian, but that aint happening. This is about as good as you can do to get Hodgson
-
He has 8 PIM on the year and a whopping total of 25 hits per tsn.ca I know those arent the end all be all of toughness stats, but he's no pat kaleta. That said he is/was VAN's top prospect.
