  1. Some co-workers are working in Boston this week. The assignment calls for them to work until Friday evening, so they may be spending more time in baw-ston than they would like. Good news is I was able to get reassigned off the Boston job earlier this week to spend time with the lady friend at home
  2. Yeah... no. As many have said if they were trying to lose on purpose they would be giving a lot less effort. It looks like they are just dysfunctional right now and bad at hockey. If they are losing on purpose nobody told the first line either...
  3. Thats... encouraging. With that said lets hope they tank again tonight to spped up the process
  4. I certainly hope he's the flavor of the week. That would make my Jonas Hiller pick in SS Gold look a lot better :bag:
  5. An interesting observation. Can we talk the NHL schedule makers into scheduling games only on Thursdays from here on out?
  6. If only the ownership group could realize that the Sabres have been on the wrong end of that equation for a while now...
  7. I had high hopes and expectations for Pegula and Black when they came in, and they have done everything I could have asked and more for the region and the facilities. That being said, the hockey decisionmakers have not changed one bit, and accordingly we continue to see the same team style, attitude and philosophy repeated over and over with various interchanging parts. If you don't see that the one constant is DR and LR, then i'm not sure what else to discuss. Unfortunately, it seems that when it comes to hockey decisions, the ownership group is just as enamored with LR and DR as they are with each other. It is going to take some extreme suckitude to change their opinion. Our only hope was a house cleaning at the time of purchase two years ago. Didn't happen.
  8. Vanek. He is setting an impossibly high standard for this year and the rest of the players feel inadequate...
  9. Another one of the blasted hockey games?! I wish it wasn't a lockout shortened season for the sole reason that it would spread out the schedule along with the accompanying misery. :bag: (For the record, the last time I was not excited for the game was the Bruin game, which was the best game all year - here's to hoping)
  10. You could certainly substitute Girardi with someone else, but that's up to you. By all the reports i've read the Girardi injury seems to be a minor thing so I'm okay with it. Upon second look, I am envious of your goaltending situation though. Especially Viktor Fasth over Jonas Hiller. Curses... :censored:
  11. nobody - are you still pondering my trade proposal? I think it helps both teams (but what do I know...? :P )
  12. Agreed. If he is the defenseman they choose to trade away I think i'm becoming a Leafs fan...
  13. You gotta take the power back!
  14. Of course. poor wording on my part. This further reinforces that it is Lindys coaching/system/philosophy that is effecting players like this negatively. We have speculated about this with younger players, but that could have been attributed to other factors. The observation that Steve Ott, a veteran player and one known in the NHL for his grit and physicality, has transformed into another typical Sabre player after only 10 games is certainly attributable to something within the Sabres organization. At this point i'm convinced we could bring in Lucic or Hartnell and have them play a much softer game under LR's tutelage. :wallbash:
  15. I was just commenting on the idea that Eleven brought up. I not only think that would be a disaster, I know it would be. Also since that would change essentially nothing other than who is telling them about 'Lindy's System'
  16. Interesting read. I love all that statistics stuff. Not sure if it really indicates the talent level since the analysis is based on career games played. i.e. Paul Gaustad type players are the same as Vanek in this analysis since they have similar games played. God no. Adams is the same thing as Lindy and will not impart the same attitude and style change that a new fresh blood coach will. It isn't just new coaching that is needed, the sabres need a new attitude and philosophy on the ice and off.
  17. this hat of yours... what prevents me from holding two more beers?! DOWN WITH LINDY!!
  18. Seeing as DR just got a contract extension (for what i'll never understand) it appears that the only possible move is the firing of LR. While I am a full proponent of removing the whole coaching staff and GM, only one of those moves appears to be available at this time. In an effort to find out what really is the problem, you change one variable - i.e. if the team doesn't respond to new coaching, then the issue wasn't the coach it was the GM or players, which ultimately leads to the full blame on the GM.
  19. thanks pepe. I don't want this to get lost in the suffle (it was on page 2 FFS)...
  20. I certainly don't look at it as having to 'win' the trade but the fans bashing him for the sake of being contrarian are way off base. Everyone on the Sabres can't be horrible and Hodgson seems to fit in well on our top line and Vanek and Pomminstein are having strong starts partly because we have a capable pass first center for them now
  21. As a frequent business flyer I can tell you that what you did is not easy to pull off. Delta is notorious for inflexibility in travel arrangements (they don't even have standby for ###### sake). Being stern is the best way to go about it though... On a related note flying back to buffalo as i speak to see my girl. Its never a bad thing to be heading home
  22. not at all. I can't believe the posters upthread that are comparing hodgson to Luke Adam? Its not even close. Hodgson is certainly one of the reasons that line is so successful. Sure Vanek and pommers are the best two players on that line, but Hodgson has made the plays to allow them to play to that level less. Not even close
  23. That sounds a lot like Robyn Regehr. We tried that last year with minimal success. It seems that Myers might be the problem. This by no means is pulling any blame from Leopold, who is playing the worst defense I have ever seen him play over the last few games.
  24. Ready for the egg they are going to lay on Saturday?
  25. After that game, I'll keep Hodgson thank you very much. Vanek is playing really well and I believe it is a direct result of putting Hodgson as his center (rather that Roy)
