  1. I would be a little concerned if the Amerks weren't succeeding with a large portion of our NHL D prospects down there. Would kind of throw a wrench in tank nation's optimism if our prospects couldn't even win in the AHL. Good to see.
  2. Even if someone wanted to trade for him while he's injured they can't under league rules while he's on IR. Let's hope he can play a few games healthy before the deadline but otherwise there goes one of our major trading chips. :censored: you Doan. Seriously...
  3. While I hate giving any discussion to anything Hockeybuzz (more specifically Ecklund), I would like the return mentioned there. My issue with trading Miller was always the potential for goalie purgatory. Getting Holtby back would give us a much younger starter and the 1st/2nd/prospect package gives us the future returns we would be looking for. Holtby could turn into something real good but at worst he is an acceptable NHL stater IMO.
  4. It does if we need an extra forward if we are trading a current roster forward...
  5. I could only see the Blues doing that if they think that makes them cup contenders/favorites this year. It would be the ultimate 'go for it' move. Two rentals for your top young prospect who has made an impact in the NHL (not to mention giving back your top goalie in the timeshare). That being said, I would probably sh!t my britches if that was actually the trade (in a good way)
  6. It's more like if you get one of the top 2 picks, then you get a future elite player (with a few landmines in there). The issue and risk is playing poorly enough to land in the bottom and then not losing the draft lottery and falling outside the 'elite player' cutoff.
  7. So does that put Zemgus up with Hodgson/Ott and remove Leino from the lineup? Here's hoping :flirt:
  8. Given your rules above (thanks for the research), I'm expecting quite a few unpopular demotions to Rochester to come before the 5pm Friday deadline. Specifically, Pysyk, McNabb (already happened), possibly Flynn and Porter.
  9. Based on the roster now I would be amazed if this team was competitive in 2-3 years. It would take a ton of deals from TM as well as mostly all of our prospects hitting their ceilings quickly. To me that's asking for a lot of dominoes falling into place and Miller won't be convinced of that. I totally agree on Barkley, he was just the most prominent former player I could think of. T R B L Turrble
  10. I think Buffalo fans would love to have Taresenko. Exactly the type of scoring winger we are looking to rebuild with. However, that is 100% a pipe dream, especially since we would certainly be getting Elliot/Halak back in a goalie swap. So if the offer is something like Halak, Rattie and EDM second for Miller, what else would we need to add to even it out. I think that looks pretty good on our end considering the limited options of trade partners for Miller.
  11. Yuck. Getting on that packed train a stop away from the arena? That thing is usually already packed to capacity by the time it leaves UB South. Also for the out of town fan, this option isn't exactly the most obvious.
  12. Okay I can get behind that logic a little bit, since Miller has been a lifetime Sabre and probably has some desire to see the team succeed. However, I still think he goes elsewhere since from his perspective the potential success of the Sabres is still 2-3 years away at least and he isn't getting any younger. If at the end of your career you could have had a shot at a championship, you wouldn't regret that after choosing to languish with your original team under some sort of loyalty? Retired players talk about not winning championships all the time, just listen to Charles Barkley yap on TNT broadcasts...
  13. I don't recognize them all but I believe those are RW draft prospects. I'd also be looking to target some RW NHL prospects like Toffoli, just so I don't have to watch Stafford/Leino as 'top 6 RWs' next year
  14. With Miller having quite a bit of leverage, I would think he would hold out for a more favorable landing spot with regards to a playoff run this year. Remember that as a UFA at the end of the year he is most likely testing free agency anyways, so Edmonton doesn't accomplish anything since they aren't making a playoff run this year.
  15. Doesn't hurt that Marty was one of the more well liked goaltenders that played for the blue and gold (or in his case black and red ) I'm sure there are plenty of teens and twenty somethings out there that saw Biron as a sabre and have dreams of taking classes from him.
  16. Now that you mention it I remember the Tkachuk signing was toward the end of his career and was because he wanted to end his career with the Blues. In terms of Miller, safely considered a top 10 goalie, I think it is far less likely for a top player to return to a team that traded them, essentially indicating that you are worth more as a package of picks/players than the remaining 30 something games of your service. Star players have enough of an ego to not come back to a team that trades them mid-season.
  17. When your RWs consist of Drew Stafford on your top line and Ville Leino as the second liner, it's a wonder why this team is bottom of the league in scoring and record/points. That would be my first rebuilding priority, some GD right wingers...
  18. that too... my mother and her s/o visited for the sabres game on 1/18 and we went to Pearl St. at like 4pm. It was already pretty busy and by the time we left for the game at 6:30, it was like fighting through a concert crowd. The masses are begging for more game day restaurant options!
  19. It's generally accepted that once you trade a UFA at the deadline for picks/prospects, the likelihood of that player signing with their former team in the offseason is next to zero. I can't even think of one instance (i'm sure there are some) where the player was traded and then returned to the trading team next year.
  20. This whole Harborcenter facility should greatly improve the gameday experience for Sabres fans and out-of-towners alike. I mean currently the 'go to' pregame location is Pearl Street which is a pretty lengthy walk from the arena especially on the cold January nights. With the new bar/restaurant across the street and the continued development of the cobblestone streets, there are quickly multiple new options emerging for the game day experience. Me likey. :)
  21. FYI House of Cards is a Netflix series and the second season will be released all at once for your binge viewing habits. All episodes come out on February 14, 2014. Also it is an awesome show, and I too am eagerly awaiting the next season.
  22. I went and checked TBD expecting a good 10 page thread on these scrubs - sadly only a 3 pager... the bills posters are slacking over there. Every pickup is always going to be an impact player on TBD.
  23. Wasn't there a condition of his original contract standoff that he could not be moved within a year? Any idea if that is still the case? I may be getting my timeframes mixed up or misremembering though...
  24. I think what Liger was saying is the St. Louis has pegged Jake Allen as their goalie of the future, and that a trade for Miller would consist of one of Halak/Elliot coming back along with a prospect pick. That gives STL a top goalie while they wait for Allen to develop into a studmuffin. That sounds like a great deal to me, and may even be reasonable for what Colorado would be expecting. With 2nd round picks to even it out either way.
  25. Unless the World Juniors and the Ramparts have suddenly changed the playing style of M Grigs.
