  1. that shouldn't have been as funny as I found it. Great images too. To add on - Tank Commander Leino is leading the charge on the first line. :death:
  2. I think the part in this deal that a lot of people are missing is by the looks of it we were very close to getting nothing for Halak and being stuck with a UFA who didn't want to be here. The ancillary pieces of this trade (Klesla, 3rd rounder in 2015) are the premium we had to pay in order to get something for Halak instead of 15 meaningless starts the rest of the year. While not a superstar goalie prospect like Gibson, Neuvirth is only 25, has decent stats and is locked up for another year. He has the size in goalies that GMTM has stated he was looking for. We can give him a season and a half try-out to see if he could be a useful piece going forward. At the minimum we don't have to worry about picking up goaltending during our 2015 tank season. You don't always have to fleece the other team.
  3. Well that top line of ours is sure striking fear into the Lightning tonight. Stamkos might have more points alone than our whole projected first line
  4. Yeah, in that he re-signed with Tampa stating that he liked that he could stay in a non-traditional market.
  5. Stamkos and Horton. Not saying it is common, but it certainly has happened before.
  6. Plus there's the hidden bonus that by trading Moulson to MIN, we choose a landing spot for him that will probably not entertain much talks of re-signing him due to their stated interest in Vanek as a UFA.
  7. And then we can trade him to Minnesota for their 2nd round pick in 2016. Thus ensuring that Minnesota never picks in the 2nd round again! mwhahahaha
  8. Some players have actually stated that they prefer to go to crap teams or non-traditional markets to get out of the spotlight. You never know.
  9. I thought we traded LA back their picks we got from the Regher trade? Am I making this up?
  10. One of those things is not like the other. Stewart doesn't belong on that list - he's a two time 25 goal scorer. did you mean Mitchell?
  11. It all depends how well TM and the scouts draft for the next few years. Most of the trades we made this week seem to be banking on TM's drafting ability which shows me he feels he is confident that he can find impact players there.
  12. That's better than MIN's 2nd rounder this year. Possible top half of the 2nd round
  13. Ask and you shall receive! Overall the second rounders are meh to me. Basically getting back what we lost in the LA trade.
  14. How long does it take for the pick conditions to come out? Its been nearly an hour since this trade broke. The picks are the big variable on whether this was decent return or poor.
  15. So the next time we see the Sabres on the ice there will be a much different roster. Less: Moulson, McCormick, Halak and Add: Neuvirth, Mitchell and Conacher. Not to mention no more Miller, Ott and adding Stewart. Seems like a bunch of mercenaries playing for the Sabres the rest of this season. Edit: Forgot about the Conacher waiver pick up.
  16. Klesla has a $2.975M cap hit and is an expiring UFA. I think that was the premium in order to get Nuevirth here for Halak. using Pegula's bucks and our cap room to grease the wheels a bit.
  17. No reason to buy out Stafford. His deal ends in 2014-15 and he may have some trade value at the next deadline. Leino's contract is a $4.5M hit until 2017-18. That's too long for a useless forward.
  18. I would think they would rather buy him out and then sign a few veteran UFAs for 1-2 year deals to make the floor. Short term overpayment for veterans is easiest to drop once the kids are ready.
  19. We were so close... maybe next year
  20. Neuvirth is a $2.5M cap hit and is a UFA after 2014-2015. Gives us a backup/starter and gives you a chance to flip him again next year.
  21. that would mean the only UFA we didn't move is Hank Tallinder. Basically accomplished what we needed to. You can debate over the returns but didn't lose any UFA's for nothing.
  22. when you pit it that way... Islanders = :bag:
  23. Projected as a top 6 forward at RW from Sweeden. Certainly a few years away since he has a 1994 birthday.
