  1. Probably. He also invests in a full cage helmet to prevent repeated blows to the head from Lindy's stick.
  2. I would be in for sure if they broadcast Blue Jay games. I still can't understand why Buffalo gets regional coverae of Yankees and Mets games but don't get the F'N Blue Jays which are a short drive to Toronto. And now the Bisons are the AAA affiliates so it makes even more sense. Just simulcast the SportsNet Ontario broadcast. Regionalization for the Jays similar to what the Bills do wih southern Ontario fans.
  3. but... the logo... it looks like a flushing toilet...
  4. Given the current standings, the eight members of the CHL would be: Buffalo Sob-rays (permanent member) Columbus Boo-Jackets Carolina Toilet bowls Washington Crapitals NYI Garth's Goobers (permanent member) Arizona Desert Dogs Colorado Light Dusting Edmonton Euhlers
  5. I would agree with this, with the caveat that the NYI Garth's Goober's always remain in the CHL due to our interest in thier 2015 1st rounder. I would say the Blues as well but they will most likely be a cellar dweller in the CHL. Having the bottom 8 would better let us know which teams we need to actually root against. Rooting against Florida or Winnipeg doesn't do us much good since they are currently borderline playoff NHL teams. See my comment. Garth's Goobers is a permanent member due to our interest in their fate.
  6. I think thats kind of the point. There will come a point when there will not be an obvious name. i.e. choosing between Zemgus and Tim Murray in the current interation.
  7. Huzzah! Votes cast for Gorges, Weber, Regehr and Kaleta. A bunch of mediocre defensemen who never brought the physicality as advertised and Kaleta who can't play more than 10 games without being injured or suspended. Thanks dudacek for sorting out the technical difficulties.
  8. The poll isn't showing up for me anymore...
  9. I'm sorry, I like to follow the rules to this made up game...
  10. This is going to take a loooong time if we only vote off 3 players from the list at a time. You must have had 200 or so names in that spoiler list. Disclaimer: I in no way counted the number of names in the list so I could be way off. Don't be a dick.
  11. Do you really want us all to write "a 20% chance at McDavid with a guarantee of at least Eichel if we finish 30th which is still unlikely given the high profile of the 2015 draft class and the amount of teams tanking this season but we're still gonna give it our best shot to suck real bad" every time this is discussed? think of the children...
  12. That's why you pick your housing location so that Paula's is right around the corner. No debate over Timmy Ho's/Dunkin'/Paulas when the best choice is also the closest. They are the only doughnuts I eat. I don't really crave doughnuts, but when I get them, it's Paula's hands-down.
  13. Agreed Blue, like Tanks above post I had to stop and think if he meant they actually won 4 in a row (losses in the CHL) or if they were making a charge for the top spot.
  14. I sense a big CHL losing streak upcoming for the Canes... they won't hold second place long with E Staal back.
  15. Yes I forgot that this was the CHL thread and not the other ones where we actually root for our team to win (kinda). The positive spin is much better since that is the ultimate goal. The 'McEichel number' will do just fine. Although I like the event horizon angle.
  16. Like the "Tragic Number"... or something along those lines
  17. the only prediction that is even close is Tristan Cockcroft, but he has the Nats winning the WS. Tristan Cockcroft @SultanofStat ESPN Fantasy AL: KAN over OAK NL: SF over PIT ALDS: KAN over LAA BAL over DET NLDS: WAS over SF STL over LAD ALCS: BAL over KAN NLCS: WAS over STL
  18. My understanding of intentional grounding is as follows: If the QB is still in the pocket (area between the two tackles) then the ball must land in the area of an eligible receiver. If not near an eligible receiver then it is Grounding. (the "nearness" is the judgement call of the ref). Occasionally you see the ball land behind the LOS when the intended target is a RB on a screen play which is not grounding due to the proximity of the intended eligible receiver. If the QB scrables outside of the pocket (tackle box), then the only requirement is that the ball land past the line of scrimmage. The intendend target doesn't matter once the QB has left the pocket. The QB can throw the ball ten rows into the stands in this situation. The LOS rule prevents the QB from essentially 'spiking' the ball to prevent a pusuit sack. The difference in the EJ grounding call compared to the Rivers one is that Rivers was governed by the second paragraph as he had escaped the pocket, whereas EJ just kept backpedaling and was still within the pocket.
  19. Gionta was brought here for his leadership and he has been in the playoffs before. He certainly wasnt brought here for his 40 goal season as that is a million years ago. Why bring in that kind of veteran prescence if you aren't going to make him captain.
  20. Just got back from a quick stop at the noon practice session. Wasn't able to stay long due to work requirements, but here's a few thoughts/observations: Looks like they were working a lot on defensive positioning and breakout of the zone. Basically every drill I watched was some variation of retrive puck from own zone and transition to the breakout. With varying number of defensive players. Its really tough to follow certain players with only numbers on the back, but the green line (Hodgson, Girgs) looked the best IMO. Makarov (#50) was the goalie on my end, he struggled a bit and let in much more shots than the other goalie on the far end. Fighting shots on his mid right side. I sat a few feet from GMTM. Spent the whole practice talking to his advisors/scouts sitting nearby.
  21. Anyone planning on going to any of the camp practices? I might wander down this afternoon during my lunch break since I normally walk down to the harbor anyways. Doubt it will be very exciting, but its hockey so whatever.
  22. Based on the opening camp lines, it looks like Hodgson should now be referred to as a LW. He played there to end the season and is starting off this camp in that slot as well. Girgensons is still working as a center in camp from what it looks like.
  23. I think shrader was referring to the AHL Amerk playoffs callup. IIRC once your junior season ends, you can continue playing in the AHL for the reaminder of the season. The timing is generally right around when AHL playoffs occur.
  24. ESPN projections provide actual yardage/touchdown totals compared to Yahoo (for example) who uses a decimal system to award .4 expected touchdowns etc. Not sure which I like better, but the ESPN ones can cause some wonky decisions if you are a total projections slave. For example, this week Matt Forte is projected for 8.9 pts compared to Lamar Miller's 15.5 because Miller has a projected TD. But Forte is still the superior player.
  25. and the vultures circle... lol :death:
