It's a strange strange filtered world... My christmas shopping is pretty painful this year as well. Havent started and theres so many people I should buy a gift for. However I have no time as I am still finishing up a massive kitchen remodel. There are not enough hours in the day to do all this shite.

Went there for the first MTL game last week (Friday night I believe). Got there at 6:30pm and waited in line for about 10 mins. Talking to the bouncer he indicated that the wait for a table (of 3) would probably be 2+ hours. When we got in I put my name in at the hostess table and she echoed the "it's gonna be a while" narrative. For having people wait outside, there was still plenty of room in the restaurant and bar. Went to the upstairs bar and there were four open stools and plenty of space so we sat down. Ordered drinks (red margarita, black rock) that the girls in my party really loved. As soon as we ordered our drinks I got the text that or table was ready. this was maybe 10 mins into being in the place. So take that for what it's worth. Ordered food at the bar (Spicy burger, chicken avocado flatbread and buffalo mac n cheese.) I had the burger and it was pretty awesome, my fiance liked the flatbread thingy and our friend didn't care for the mac just because it was quite spicy. I had a taste and thought it was as spicy as my burger, which was good for my taste. Bar started to get crowded (2 or 3 deep) around 9pm. Girls ordered second round of drinks and liked them as well. My fiance got some alcoholic arnold plamer type drink that she liked. I will say it was kind of tough to watch the game since there was a lot going on and I was easily distracted. But overall we had a great time.

I just came here to make a ###### joke. 20 posts later... Edit: really? mast-ur-bay-shun is filtered?

Tank is still alive and well. No worries here. Talk to me when we aren't in last place when the calendar hits 2015

I'll even give you some stats to back this up. All time career sv% leaders: Rank Player SV% 1. Dominik Hasek* .9223 2. Henrik Lundqvist .9200 3. Tim Thomas .9199 4. Roberto Luongo .9192 5. Pekka Rinne .9191 6. Jaroslav Halak .9181 7. Carey Price .9170 8. Tomas Vokoun .9169 9. Jimmy Howard .9165 10. Jonas Hiller .9163 Enroth in the past week has posted an average sv% of .95313 (183 saves on 192 shots) since the SJ Sharks win. I'll let you decide if he is .030 better than the all-time leader Hasek.

I hear you, but it isn't Strachen that is causing the wins. It's Girgs, Risto, Zad and a coked up Enroth. The first three are for real, but IMO Enroth is not the best goalie ever to play and will not sustain his elevated sv%. We still aren't scoring a ton. Outside of the MTL 4-3 game, our win streak has all been 2-1 wins with some in the SO. That's still 1 or 2 goals a game which isn't winning long term.
-
Nothing can be done to make them worse outside of blatent cheating (telling players to lose on purpose). However, even during the win streak they were still outshot and Enroth had close to a .950 sv%. It will all come crashing down soon enough. No worries (yet)

I agree with you on this point Derrico. Ideally the kids don't make enough impact this year to get us out of DFL. However, the reason i've been siding with Liger is it appears as if the prospects on the sabres now are making them improve to the point where we beat two top teams for three wins. If this is truly an indicator of improvement (and not a short term fluctuation that I think it actually is), then we are further along than originally thought in the rebuild. You can't make the team lose to fit the ideal narrative. This isn't UFA's and veterans carrying the team to wins, it is the important building block prospects.
-
Agreed Liger. Last year we were discussing the possibility of getting the NYI pick at #5 and grabbing Dal Colle. Does anyone here think that Dal Colle is a better prospect than guys like Hanifin and Strome? Or that little Pat Kane look-alike that is scoring like crazy. Those are the guys at pick #5 this year.
-
It's also kind of important to remember that because of the top two in this draft, players that would normally go #1 overall in other years (Hanifin, Strome, etc.) will be potentially available at picks 3-5. While it's not ideal, it is hooking up with the smokin' hot cheerleaders also hot best friend. It's not like it's 4am Chippewa...
-
I might cry with joy. That would mean our team has improved the few important prospects while still landing a high(ish) pick. Thats Plan 1B if we can't land McDavid/Eichel

You want immaturity? I'll give you immaturity :nana:

I have it on good authority that the modern day trucking industry is very safe. I will not have internet posters attacking the reputation of hard working transportation workers with these libelous claims of truck and bus murders. Enough is enough!

If we draft Connor McDavid, the next day the city shuts down the Metro Bus service. Problem solved. Trains too just to be safe... :nana:

I too think that this is recent winning streak is an abbheration and the team will resume its losing path soon. The team is still not scoring any goals and the goaltending will stabilize back to career average levels. We have been winning a lot of 2-1 and 1-0 type games. The only part I think is legitimate improvement is the Risto-Zadorov pairing has improved the defense significantly. I am still counting on the lack of scoring from the forwards to drag us down to the basement again.
-
I laughed too. Then felt bad. Then laughed again. You sonofabeetch...
-
I voted for May, Luce and Knox. Similar rationale as dudacek above. May partially because him being on the current broadcast team has annoyed me somewhat.

... the basement window?

Whoops  Guess I can't read the score correctly, I could have sworn it was 4-3 Amerks over B Sens.
-
The Amerks won their last two after a rought stretch. For those of you in Rochester is this a sign that they have they pulled themselves out of it? Have the three call ups from the Jackals helped at all?
-
Yeah its just like a few years back when the Jays won the offseason trading for half the marlins. Talking heads were talking World Series in April, but the realist in me needed to see it before I bought the "contender" status. It's a lot like my fandom of the Sabres/Bills. Cautious optimism mixed with a healthy dose of skepticism of impending doom.

Well yeah the opposite as well. The really large mathematics of how far galactic objects are from each other amaze me as well. I think that is why humanity struggles with the whole infinitely expanding universe thing. People like having a defined area within which to understand. Since we can only see as far as light has traveled, there could be way more out there that we are oblivious to.

A slug Stafford jersey? Life is full of regrets... :bag:
