'Caffiene Scientist' is fun too. For 20 more games you can call yourself whatever you want.

And here I thought the culprit was still serving the banhammer. Seems we can't even have our Russian naming fun without someone pissing in our cheerios. Correct. Some picture of a lady in a Kentucky Derby sized hat...

I don't think he should be suspended, especially since it was during the offseason while rehabbing from shoulder surgery. That being said, I would guess that if this is a continuing problem and not just a one-time offseason relapse, the Angels or even Hamilton himself will take a self-imposed break to get his stuff together. Again.

You can call it tanking and I can call it rebuilding, but we seem to be reaching the same end result. I will say that the 're-built' Sabres appear to be a lot tougher to play against and have much more size. That is a pretty strong departure from a few years ago. -

That season was all about recognizing that we were not going to be a consistently successful team with Pominville and Vanek. Therefore the team cashed in those assets for value in terms of picks and prospects. That is the definition (IMO) of rebuiling. The Sabres did not enter into a "tanking" mode until they decided that instead of using those assets acquired to gain a new mix of NHL players in the offseason, the team proceeded to ice the gutted team to start the 13'-14' season. Adding NHL talent and trading a few of those assets for NHL players would have been a rebuild and made the team competitive in the short term. Deciding to aim for last place to acquire Reinhart and now McEichel is a tanking strategy. -
short of trading for Bradford, EJ is the Bills best hope for competent QB play in 2015.

No its not tanking. The Patriots do this with veteran players every year. Getting value for a player while his value is higher in the market than your perceived internal value is just smart GM work. Now you can argue the merits of whether or not we got good value for Pominville, but that was a re-building move. Tanking is intentionally rostering a team for the full season with the intention of finishing last. That year we had the #8 and #16. That is still in the "cycle of mediocrity" draft range. -
To me this is just in line with what Whaley has been saying. He specifically mentioned he wanted "a veteran and a developing young player". Whether the veteran or the developing player is the starter is irrelevant. Now we at least aren't totally screwed if the starter goes down in week 2. I still think they are looking for the starter for next year, this is just an insurance signing.

If true, I am amazed. I thought it was going to be way worse. Cue the "Zemgus Destroyer of Worlds" posts. Zemgus can't break his leg because he needs it to kick a$$.

To be fair, 16th overall is hardly "tanking". I would argue being sellers at the deadline and full blown tanking are way different things. -
Lets not get all 'Two Bills Drive' up in here. Thread anarchy is not the way to go.

Me either, but peer pressure can do some strange things. You're either in or your out.

Roster. Manipulation. (and teaching a 19 yr old a lesson)

Un-ban Dwight. He might be crazy/committed enough to pull that kind of crusade off. :flirt: -

Here's my point -> o You missed it. I'm trying here. I must be doing it wrong. -
I love Jet Blue as well, but from Buffalo they basically only fly to Boston and NYC. Not very useful for traveling nationwide.

You don't get 20,000 posts without a little delusions of grandeur/self-entitlement. -
While I can't speak to your experiences, my old job had me traveling every week of the year, and Southwest is by far the best airline. You would never catch me on a Delta or United flight unless there was no other choice. F those guys.

"Sources tell me if the Sabres are willing to include Zadorov or Ristolainen, other teams would be willing to give up more value in a trade." See? I can do it too. I think this is what Eleven was getting at. While truthful, reporting this is like saying the sun will set sometime tonight.

I just worry creating forbidden zones on the ice will a) reduce the flow/skating in the game and b) clutter up the ice with markings making the playing surface resemble a European League jersey covered in ads. Hockey isn't like other sports in that it is played on ice and doesn't lend itself well to stopping and starting/quick change of direction. forbidden zones are easier in basketball/lacrosse/etc. because the players are on foot.

I think I would rather them just be completely oblivious. They have a McDavid board that tracks the standings, so they understand the goal, they have just been indoctrinated into the Schopp mindset of "lets force Nolan to bench all the starters, call up all the bad AHL players, tell the players not to try" etc. Listening to that every morning is driving me nuts. I don't have the energy to argue the team's futlity metrics with them, its hard enough talking some of SabreSpace off the ledge.
-
Yep that's probably the crux of the matter. The wgr550 faithful that listen to them as if they were gospel. Heck, I think Schoop and the Bulldog did an hour long segment yesterday on trading away Neuvirth for nothing or forcing Noan to play Lindback

I watch rugby pretty regularly. In my first post it wasn't so much that I didn't understand it, it's more I can't even begin to fathom how that would look. The modern NHL is 180* different from a "rugby-style" game. No outlet passes from the defense, no goal hanging, etc. I suppose you would see a lot more "weave" plays and drop passes.

I read all the threads. It's a gift and a curse.
