    Well that was fun. Everyone just has a bit of cabin fever since we don't have actual hockey to talk about. Otherwise I think the posters here have been pretty well behaved given the terrible season. Then again we all could just be slowly accepting the single-minded communist agenda. :death:

    It seems I mis-read your post. I would agree that the tank is over at the end of this year. Ending the tank =/= the end of our sucky team. The Sabres will be a bad team next year, possibly sniffing the playoff bubble if things go well. Just because the goal isn't to manipulate the roster for last, doesn't mean the team is magically filled with all-stars. It's still a team of mostly 20-25 year olds, and that doesn't win consistently in the NHL, no matter how talented the kids are.

    Do we really need a poll to prove that this is a gross mis-characterization? Why anyone would think that when the opportunity for the best players was in this year's draft? Did anyone really think signing Gionta and Gorges was signaling that we were going for it this year? Benoit and Mezaros?

    Maybe he's just being realistic. How many teams go from last in the league to a playoff team in one year? There won't be any more roster manipulation tactics, but its tough to nearly double your point output in one year.

    I watch every single game. I don't watch as intently, but it is on in the living room from puck drop to final horn. I can't really get out of the routine that has been part of me my whole life.

    This is what I have been arguing as well, I just got caught up in my defense of Hodgson's talent that I must have missed it. Bottom line is I think Nolan is playing the wrong players for the designated roles for this hockey team. It doesn't much matter this year as even with the right players in these roles we would still be bad, but going forward I don't trust him to play skilled players in the power play/top line roles and leave the grinder/shutdown roles to the players he favors.

    He apparently had a very good relationship with Rex Ryan and WR coach Sanjay Lal. So it is probably a visit to see the old staff and see what we have to offer.

    so just spitballing, K Williams gets a standard $250k workout bonus and a $9.75M salary that year, which would lower his cap hit this year since only the $250k is added to the spread but is spread over another year. The extended year cap hit however, is the $9.75 + avg of bonuses throughout the contract. Got it :thumbsup:
