  1. Would it be feasible that prior to any freelance jobs having the client agree to a contract explaining the scope of work, expected time to completion and either a time and materials cost or a fixed bid sum? That would take care of a lot of your issues if they understood the cost/billing and scope ahead of time. That would also help with your friends requests as well, where once you her from them you let your contract terms do the talking/heavy lifting. And you get paid  Just my finance .02 cents
  2. See point above about bad teams staying bad. The whole point of the draft is to even the playing field and giving the worst team the opportunity to acquire the best players, therefore making them not the worst team next year. Even lottery odds or some sort of basement playoff would just give the bad teams less ability to make themselves better, leading to bankruptcies and terrible league parity.
  3. Glad you're back Liger.
  4. That's kind of why I stopped bothering, despite a very high probability that the Sabres will finish in 30th, Crusader continues to plan next year's roster with Hanifin on it. To each their own.
  5. DISCLAIMER: My joke is only funny if you have an understanding that Coho is a nickname of a hockey player on the Buffalo Sabres while also being the breed of a Pacific Northwest fish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coho_salmon
  6. That Coho, always swimming against the current...
  7. Thanks for the lesson there. I had no idea who Auston Matthews was. :wallbash: The roster will be significantly better as we will see the results of the Winnipeg trade on our end, the addition of our top pick from last year in Reinhart, an additional one or two free agent additions to improve the team post draft, keeping players like Pysyk and Larsson up with the big club, the removal of placeholder vets like Meszaros and Benoit, another year maturation from Risto, Zad, Girgensons. Note I intentionally did this all without considering the 2015 draft results, since you seem convinced that we wont get McDavid/Eichel, even though it is highly probable that the remaining games will result in a 30th place finish. Based on GMTM's actions of stocking young prospects and making the 'win for 2016' trade for Kane and Bogo, I'd say the goal is to be competitive in 2016.
  8. Don't worry about it, I have zero interest in being bad enough to have to know his name next year. Arizona can have him.
  9. Except the kid's name is Austin Matthews. Just sayin'. ;)
  10. I think you're wrong. Two years of bad teams have gotten the Sabres Reinhart and ??. Next year will be about building around the young anchors of the team, which are Reinhart, Kane and this year's top pick. The fans are looking for progress next year, and you would have quite the revolt if the plan was tanking in 2016.
  11. Thanks TrueBlue for saving me the effort of writing all that out. As the number of games remaining dwindles, it will take a much larger win/loss discrepancy between us and Arizona to make up the point gap. Every game comparison remaining where Arizona doesn't gain 2 points on the Sabres (BUF win and ARI loss) is a win for us.
  12. Don't worry, everyone was just blinded by the admittedly small chance of an instant uber-team with the two wunderkids.
  13. Kane McEichel Ennis Moulson Reinhart Hodgson (!) Foligno ROR Girgensons Deslauriers Larsson Gionta Bogo Gorges Risto Zadorov Weber Pysyk Best UFA goalie I know people are going to question my placement of Hodgson and the ROR/Girgensons, but I think this fits their roles much better. Hodgson was our leading scorer last year, and his game would work as the RW on a sheltered scoring line. The ROR/Girgensons line is the shutdown line, and I think those three would get a lot of ice time with tough minutes against the opponent's top line. ROR gets the center role due to faceoff ability/experience. The fourth line is more of a shutdown line 2, rather than the traditional muck it up grinders. If you want more muscle I suppose McCormick can come in as C. Note that Gionta is there for purely leadership/role model as I feel he has lost a step or two.
  14. Well you are clearly an idiot who knows nothing about hockey. :nana: To be fair, the Islander's success may be more indicative of how possible it is to make a drastic improvement in one year, especially when you have a legitamite star player (Tavares) as your leader.
  15. Not that I think it is a huge issue, but with Hackett's injury and the remaining number of games, we are getting pretty close to the threshold of losing his RFA rights. It may be more and more likely that Hackett's time as a Sabre is coming to an end.
  16. I think we all know where I stand on this one. It's not even close. Hodgson will be in the top 6 for points from a forward on this team next year. Nolan will be coaching Latvian youth hockey.
  17. Remember at the beginning of the year when we were all talking about getting both McDavid and Eichel? When everyone thought the Islanders would be bad/out of the playoffs? Good times...
  18. It did nearly fall down to page 2 when it was clear you were on to us, but a quick bump kept it relevant until you were able to oblige our little game.
  19. Performance review/annual raises. Despite being a high performer and highly experienced compared to my peers, because I was hired in the last year (10 months ago), I get a less than standard raise and an explanation that if I stick around for another year, maybe my boss will go to bat for me and get me more next year. And I should be happy because they also gave me a whopping $750 bonus. Gee thanks guys. When I was originally hired I was told that my salary would increase dramatically at performance review based on my experience level, but I had to start here due to new hire slotting. Plus the whole "determining your salary before the performance review" meeting never made any sense to me. You've already made your decision on my value? Then why the ###### are we even meeting if it has zero impact on the decision? Guess who is looking for a new position in the next few months? :censored:
  20. Also Puck Daddy (Greg W.) was on 103.3 the Edge this morning and he felt that the Coyotes would win this game, since they have been playing better as of late (debateable) and have more talent. Not sure why his opinion really matters, but figured i'd throw it out there.
  21. Todays magic number is zero. As in, zero goals scored for the Sabres in tonight's game. Zero points in the standings earned tonight. Zero coaching ability from Ted Nolan. Zero cheering from the fans. Zero Coyotes fans outside Glendale, AZ. Zero Given. ;)
  22. Guys I think I might skip this one. Two basement dwellers with nothing to play for is going to make for a really sloppy, ugly game. At this point in the year, who cares who wins this one, as neither team has anything to play for. Plus there is college basketball and re-runs of West Wing on today instead. That's can't miss tv right there. (:nana:)
  23. I guess I just assumed that they were still comfortably in the playoffs. It's this situation that makes me really glad that Murray included that stipulation on the 1st we traded to Winnepeg, rather than just picking one of the 1sts...
