  1. Plus the stupid trapezoid rule has made puck handling goalies not nearly as valuable. Brodeur used to be a force by playing the puck and starting the rush, but the trapezoid limited that.
  2. I would expect Eichel to take #15, as that is the other number he has worn recently in competition. Kane gets 9 because he is clearly the vet.
  3. Especially since it looks like we will be drafting Eichel, O'Connor seems to have a good shot at coming to Buffalo given he was already interested. Him as a backup behind Niemi or Hammond would be alright for next year. I don't think we bring back any of the 2014-15 goalies.
  4. We sure could use a 1st line RW to fill out our roster. We are painfully short on right handed shots currently. Plus Eberle probably doesn't cost as much as Hall.
  5. She's hideous. (NOT!)
  6. The comparison is that Basketball's 14 man roster is much closer to Hockey's 23 than Football's 53 (46 active). That is my point with respect to the draft.
  7. It also might have to do with the quantity of players on the playing field at one time. In the NHL/NBA, there are only 5/6 players active at a time, so elite players have a much greater impact. In the NFL, there is much less of an impact from one player since there are 11 starters on offense and 11 on defense. i.e. LeBron added to a crappy team is way more impactful short term than Aaron Rodgers to the Bucs. If only because LeBron can play 90% of the available game time if needed.
  8. More fun: The Bills were the only team ever to draft a Guard #1 overall - Ken Rice in 1961 :flirt:
  9. Agreed. There is a reason the the NFL system works. When you are the worst team, you get the best player. Suddenly you aren't the worst team anymore. I can't recall the last time an NFL franchise picked #1 two years straight Edit: looked it up, it hasn't been since 2000 that the Browns picked #1 twice in a row. And it's because they picked Tim Couch in 1999. Tim Couch sucks. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/alltimeno1
  10. That is quite the accomplishment. I mean with competition like Utopia and the endless dating shows, its tough to stay on top.
  11. I believe that Ted Black called it a "turdburger" during an off the cuff comment. I appreciate that my love of #19 is that recognizable
  12. I think a lot of the success that this year's Sabres goalie crop showed was a direct result of being outshot 2-1 every game. When you face that many shots it helps keep you focused and certainly some of them were not prime scoring chances since we played an inside-out defensive strategy. I don't really want to bring any of the goalies from this year back, but of the choices, I think Lindback has the best size and former hot prospect label that GMTM would like. He has already expressed his preference for large goalies in the past.
  13. Yeah I thought about going with an all new name, but I don't post frequently enough for people to remember who I am if I change names.
  14. I have removed my russian name, and went back to the classic. Also added a new Hodgson avatar. I like going with the obscure Sabre players that nobody likes.
  15. And just like the regular season the chances of the Sabres winning is 20%
  16. With our current personnel, I see more of a 1a/1b line structure. Kane with Eichel and (? RW) as I feel that their speed will work well together and Kane can guard against cheap shots on the rookie. Moulson with Reinhart and Hodgson are two finishers to match with Reinhart's cerebral passing game. The speed issue is overblown IMO, and is more important to match complementary styles on each line. Maybe Ennis plays RW even though he is a lefty on the top line. That would be one fast line.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQlIhraqL7o
  18. Correct. The chart is just ordered lowest to highest for ease of reading.
  19. No just let him do his thing. Us Sabres fans love wasting 2-3 hours at a time. :nana:
  20. There is a link on the article that sorts by team combination. The Sabres have the whole first page for their combos. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/pdfs/NHL-Lottery-2015-Look-Up-Table-Alpha-by-Team.pdf
  21. There's a reason the majority of RW in the NHL are right shots and vice-versa. With the proper handed-ness on the wing, you are much more effective at winning battles along the boards (on your forehand) and shielding the puck from defenders. That's the idea.
  22. So this is how to boost your post count. I knew I was doing something wrong... :nana:
  23. I stand corrected. Rip and RJ. The two constants. :flirt:
  24. Not arguing, but is there anyone at all left from the "old core"? You can probably drop the 'pretty much' part. Every player from the old core is now gone. No Vanek, Pominville, Stafford, Roy, Myers, Gaustad, Miller. Heck the longest tenured Sabre is Pat Kaleta and I don't see him playing for us next year. There is no trace of the team from the post-lockout days. None.
