  1. I think the biggest issue is the defensive team's willingness to shot block till they are blue in the face. The reason everyone is doing this? Because player pads and skate technology is so good that it doesn't even hurt to be hit with a slapshot from the point anymore. Back in the 80's, only a select few crazy mofo's were willing to black shots because they were gonna have a big bruise/welt as a result. If there was a way to reduce player padding to a reasonable level so that they are not skating tanks, then shot blocking would go down, shooting lanes would go up, and we would eliminate the big injuries/concussions from hits using the super hard elbow and shoulder pads as weapons. I am aware that this is a very unconventional solution. softer pads = more scoring chances.
  2. Certainly full of plenty of useful information and discussion. Bylsma would work for me, but I have a pretty big list of coaches I would be alright with landing.
  3. Same here. All we can resort to now is commentating on the process and making fun of stupid picks.
  4. Am I missing something? Why did qwk pick in Flagg's spots? Was there some sort of trade/ownership change? The people want to know!
  5. I know we had a donut thread around here a few months back. Don't want to rehash it but. Paula's Peanut Jelly donut. get. in. my. mouth.
  6. Whoa there Aud, I think you missed my point. I think dipping wings in blue cheese just takes too much time/effort away from eating said wings. That's why I don't do it. It still tastes awesome. Blue cheese on top of the pizza, however, is where it's at. Dont try to take my Buffalo-card away from me that easily. Also - F### ranch dressing. Don't give me that crap.
  7. Agreed. Blue cheese just gets in the way of wing consumption. Nothing wrong with using it for pizza, fries and veggies though... ;)
  8. The continue my thought... The only way any of this draft makes any sense is if you think of yourself as the GM of <insert team name here>. If the league magically voided all contracts this offseason and suddenly every player is up for grabs as part of a *ahem* SUPERDRAFT. The Oilers would start by picking the player they think gives them the best chance at being a good team. So they would weigh such factors as talent level, position played, age and clutch/intangibles to pick a player. This would mean a top player who is also young would be someone like Stamkos. They would certainly give pause to select a guy like Jagr since he's probably retired in a year and they waste their pick. If you just are picking the top player this isn't any different than a power ranking or the list from TSN. It basically has to be team building to be any fun. Carry on... :nana:
  9. Not that I am a part of this, but based on everyone's choices, it looks like the majority of posters are picking with the intents of building a team starting from scratch. IMO, it wouldn't make any sense to combine two random draft slots "teams" to make one team per poster. That would give a big advantage to guys with early picks and a big disadvantage to guys like Flagg and Hoss. Obviously you would take Wildcard's Kane and Ovechkin team at #1/#8 over whomever is picking in the late 20's. It should be two separate teams IMO.
  10. Awesome suspension of disbelief concept. I fear that the old school nostalgia factor will only last so long and then you will have a bunch of actors getting in the way of cool video game 'aliens'. That said, I will probably see it either way just cause it isn't the same recycled story/plot. I mean, FFS, they are making another Fantastic Four. The last one was only a few years back...
  11. Some crushes don't ever die. It's all about the pedigree for me...
  12. um... sure. Edit: I'm not clicking any 'mystery links' while i'm at work. Don't want to end up as a burger flipper in the politics thread.
  13. I figuratively have no idea what you are talking about.
  14. Maybe my early complaint has entirely to do with planning a wedding and having a fiance. High school me didn't have to worry about that crap. :P
  15. I think that Google could also use a few gofundme campaigns. :wallbash:
  16. I just can't find the time anymore. I have been waiting to finish Fallout 3 for like 2 years now. Everytime I think of playing again to finish it, I realize I have a million other things to do instead. :(
  17. I have no problem using sports as an interest/hobby to pass the time. It's Vlad's take below that I think is the crux of the stupidity.
  18. I went into this offseason attempting not to watch Eichel so I don't build him up like we did (unfairly) to Grigo a few years back. I wanted no expectations so I could be pleasantly surprised come fall 2015. Unfortunately the kid is so good that it has been impossible avoiding it. His play in the last IIHF game was very impressive.
  19. You all suck. I'm at work and I now want to eat all of the wings. That and my Kenmore location make it a bit of a drive for any of the locations (except Bob & Johns I suppose...)
  20. The idiocy of New Englad fans never ceases to amaze me.
  21. Based on all of our experiences and failures the last decade, it's good to see that the majority of everyone's list is populated with #1 centers
  22. But by that logic, wouldn't you be saying that if Brady is viewed as a verified cheater (pending the league disciple upcoming), then he would be excluded from the all-time great discussions similarly to ARod/Bonds/Rose in baseball? At the time, those guys were top 5 players in their generation easy, but now are dismissed in hall of fame/all-time great discussions. Is this a legacy changing thing for Brady being associated with consistent accusations of franchise cheating?
  23. Don't worry Josie, I consider myself a fairly athletic person. Played college volleyball, continue to play pick up basketball/soccer/tennis and am an avid golfer. All that said, I have the running cardio of an obese 60 year old. Sometimes running just isn't your thing...
  24. Those weird yoga poses never seem to work out... :bag:
  25. If only your birthday was on 3/14... ;)
