I was under the impression that Nolan did in fact have little to no input on who he was getting on his roster on a nightly basis. If he did have input, Pysyk would have been up all season. This was Nolan's frustration, but if Nolan got his way we may be looking at a Strome/Marner/Hanifin draft this year. GMTM took charge and dictated who was on the Sabres. I don't think it's an issue going forward because the objective is much different.

Well it seems everything went to sh!t once I left work yesterday and the night crazies started. Sheesh. To summarize - we are in the exact same position and waiting since Wawrow's news yesterday at 4pm? Am i missing something?

Prediction time: Will the Sabres get Babcock?

Why do you insist on having 4 letter names? What was wrong with DStebb? The people want answers! :nana: -
Want to combine posts Whiskey? We can squeak out 10k and regain our credibility! ;) errr... lose our credibility!

Especially with the weak Canadian dollar, there was rumors that this year's cap might not go up at all. I would agree with you that the cap might not have the automatic increase seen in the past few years.

Except Hoss is already at 10k posts. You didn't hit your posting stride until later in the game.

Have you read our sister site - TSW?

I agree the wording of the tweet was a bit clumsy, but it sure is exciting to be seeing smoke that the Sabres are still in it and may even come out with the prize. These non-salary cap expenses are where Terry can make his mark to build a top end organization.
-
I would think percentage of the total cap at the time of signing (or PotTCatToS for short) would be much easier than calculating an adjusted salary for everyone. It would get the same point across. $8MM against a $71MM cap this year projected for O'Reilly would come out to 11.26% of the total cap. I would guess the signing of Toews and Kane would provide the high end and give a relative value for each player calculated.

Well put qwk. You more effectively highlighted my problem with the show than I was able to. The HBO version seems to have an infatuation with providing motivation/resentment in their characters through sexual violence. This was not an aspect of George RR Martin's version, where any rape situations were only on unnamed characters during the spoils of war. All the male characters have a multitude of challenges and obstacles to overcome, but the female characters seem to have predominately sexual obstacles. It cheapens the story and is very un-imaginative IMO.

Prediction time: Will the Sabres get Babcock?
Samson's Flow replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
I don't think we will get Babcock. It sounds to me like it was down to two, but the hometown team won out for a multitude of factors outside of money. It doesn't help, but at least we were the #2 choice... -
Given his fantasy hockey average draft pick of #78, and the stats given by Whisky showing 58th in points for forwards and 44 in Rel Corsi, plus the superdraft pick of #49, which would take into account his age, I would say his ranking would be safely be somewhere in the 50's for overall player. That's a great player. I think we would all like him on our team. The situation in Colorado and uncertainty of signing him long term depresses his trade value IMO, so you have to balance all those factors as well. That unknown of whether you are trading for one year of ROR, or a new 6 year contract is why the trade values are all over the map in this thread.

Because if he isn't contrarian than this thread dies and a consensus is reached.

bah-dum cha!

In a tier with Gustav Nyquist and Jordan Eberle (#12 and #13 RW but only 10 total spots difference)

Exactly, there has been zero character development for Sansa. She is the same naive, little girl from season 1 when she saw her father murdered. You would think her experiences and hanging with littlefinger would inform her on the way the world works. but no. It's dumb that there are so many static characters despite most of them traveling all of Westeros. :wallbash:

Well he went #78 in ESPN Fantasy Hockey based on average draft pick. Right next to guys like Mike Green and Milan Lucic. That seems about right to me. I realize fantasy hockey doesn't take into account his defensive contribution, but it is a very good way to get a large sample of what the public thinks is his relative worth. http://games.espn.go.com/fhl/livedraftresults

He went #49 to Whisky. Not sure where you got #33...

What they said...

I really resisted joining this conversation because I don't have much interest in ROR, but I got sucked in by Liger's contract logic. What a player makes in a UFA contract year has more to do with supply and demand than comparison of contracts. In a year where there is one good talent and a bunch of schmucks, say when Brad Richards was a UFA, his contract terms didn't say he was a top 10 player, it had more to do that he was the only good talent available and the next best was Ville freakin' Leino. If all the teams with cap room are bidding on one asset, the price is going to be higher. It's just market economics. You pay what the competitive market says you need to, otherwise you don't get the player. Nevermind if Crosby or Stamkos or whomever makes less AAV. If you don't pay X, then you don't get the player.

Agreed. I think I would prefer a more established coach coming in. If we were to go the AHL potential route, I think that would be Rochardson based on the TM connection.

This season's episodes definitely have a much different feel, and I am not entirely convinced this is for the better. The episode structure seems to meander and do nothing until the last 5 mins of each episode, which is annoyingly cable drama-esque. That coupled with the majority of the off-book scenes being horribly mis-managed, and I am slowly losing faith in the show. There were ways to prove/show that Ramsay Bolton is a sick dude without the inferred rape scene. That was uncalled for and done purely for shock value.
