I'd be all for a three man team as long as Rob is the guy between the benches providing the one-off comments. He was at his best overhearing on ice comments and covering his mic to protect our virgin ears from Lindy tirades. Rob's a bit out of depth providing analysis on the whys of developing plays.

Thanks for the summary WildCard. I think at this point the lines need to be built around the roles of the centers: 1 - O'Reilly as #1 center and top scoring line. All purpose use with most ice time. 2 - Eichel as #2 center with scoring wingers. Sheltered offensive zone starts for maximum effectiveness. 3 - Girgensens as checking line center. Attempt to build a shut down type line without totally neutering the offense of Z. Looking at it this way makes it much easier to fill in roles IMO. I want Kane as LW with O'Reilly and Moulson as LW with Eichel. The third line is for guys like Larsson/McGinn/Foligno. Bylsma can tinker however he wants with the other wings to get the matchups he wants.

I've been trying to get lucky for weeks now. The lady is having none of it :bag: Honestly, I think if we had buried a few of the 'should have been goals' chances we've had this year, the scoring disparity for the Sabres wouldn't be newsworthy at all.

I've always thought that to win consistently in the playoffs you need to have one no-doubt-about-it shutdown pairing and solid defense top 4. I'd be willing to send some forwards in order to get Cam Fowler, and given my proclivity to larger two way forwards Ennis wouldn't hurt as much to me as it may others. (ignoring Ennis' current doghouse status around here) that gives you RHD Risto, RHD Bogo, and LHD Fowler to build a top 4 around.

OT: Should we vote Smell off the island?

To rally to your defense, I've never really been too miffed about the whole "No Goal" thing, since in the majority of NHL seasons, that would have resulted in a goal. It was only in a brief few years stretch where in the crease resulted in a disallowed goal. I'm more upset about Homerun Throwback since the forward lateral has always been illegal since the dawn of football. Is there room in your bunker Smell? -
Aww shucks guys  First day back posting in a while and I'm feeling the love. Maybe I should jump into the politics thread so start hating life again. this is the reaction the major sports should be attempting to prevent at all possible. If your rule/review results in your fanbase wishing exciting things don't happen for the fear of you taking it away, then you have a major problem.

Anything to get the stragglers off the top lines. Gionta i'm looking at you.

Aint that the truth. Something our young Samson could have built off of. He was rewarded for some strong play in the third period. All that was lost. -

I didn't know what they were reviewing at the time. In fact, I think the Rayzer/RJ team were thinking that the Stars were calling a timeout to attempt to slow our momentum. Did you see how after that call, a large majority of the fans at FNC just left? They knew it was over cause the Sabres momentum was killed. -
I will echo the same sentiment as a lot of others on the replay situation, in that it seems incredibly arbitrary when a review can take place. There is no outcry to correct all the offsides calls throughout the game, only the ones which shortly after a goal is scored. Why not try to correct all the offsides calls? Answer: because it would be a huge PITA and slow down the game a ton for a relatively meaningless call. In my opinion, there are certain sports, such as hockey, soccer, basketball that shouldn't have replay at all. These sports all have continuous end to end play to varying degrees and many subjective officials calls throughout. The allure of these sports is the build up of excitement and momentum throughout the game. Can you imagine stopping a soccer game after a goal to review an offsides call or handball? a basketball game calling off the game winning shot to enforce a 3 seconds in the paint call? North American society has a new fascination with inserting technology into things that do not require it and calling this progress. the NHL linesmen were not doing a poor job calling offsides IMO, if anything the calling of penalties is the thing that needs improvement.

Also this weather delay may be a huge bonus for the Jays if it cools down Davis. Still have Osuna who can probably get 6 outs Also - Fox needs to get Pete Rose off of tv. He's like the drunk uncle you avoid at parties. This rain delay coverage has been brutal.

Bautista!!! yeah Blue Jays

Just once I'd like to be able to win a game without scoring double digit runs. :wallbash:

IIRC JJ's avatar was a panthers logo only as a protest against the blatant tanking and cheering around here last year. It was more tongue in cheek than anything nefarious. -
As a Bills-Sabres-Jays fan, I thought I was seeing another addition to my personal "disappointment and screw-job" list in the top of the 7th in last nights game. Luckily the round ball bounced my way to change the outcome.

Jays Win! :w00t: That 7th inning was the full spectrum of emotions crammed into one hour long moment. The feeling of both the highs (and the lows) are why sports are so appealing to me. Even though it was the correct call, I would have hated to have the Martin throwing error decide such a close game. I would hate to be Elvis Andrus this morning. That was close to Buckner level stuff last night.

So glad that the Jays schedule allowed me to watch the game uninterrupted yesterday and it looks like they play Friday so no Sabres distractions for the first game. Good luck to you and your Mets - hope to see you in the World Series! -
I'm leaving work as early as possible to catch the start of the game (4pm EST). The Jays haven't been in the playoffs since I was a wee lad, I'm not missing the deciding game 5. Let's go Jays!
-
... tomorrow. It's amazing how your mindset can change from being down 0-2 to suddenly have a winner take all game 5. Not sure I agree with pitching Price in a blowout game yesterday rather than him pitching game 5 on five days rest. There was a reason he was a Cy Young candidate this year and it wasn't to mop up a 8-0 lead. But Stroman it is I guess. Some interesting managerial decisions thus far coming from our blue birds.

Bonus baseball in the Jays - Rangers game 2. Napoli with a clutch pinch hit in the 8th to tie it up off of Cecil. Gotta take this game, it would be tough to head to Texas down 0-2.

I don't know about you, but I generally save my orgasms until the end of the night and not opening pitch. :flirt: Especially since JJ was nearly 2 hours off on the game start time. If you're gonna nitpick get your own facts straight.- 766 replies

I'm pretty upset that I won't get out of work until 5pm EST today, so I will miss the first hour and a half of the Jays game. Also, who's brilliant idea was it to schedule tomorrows game for mid-day? Some of us have to work goddamnit!!!

Also, now that the season has officially started, I have removed the Majestic Eichel-corn as my avatar and replaced it with the moment that finished the tank.- 766 replies
