This is typical Paul Hamilton drivel. Rather than finding a real story, he makes up some conspiracy theory so that we (the fans) can blame it on the league for our 25th place finish. Instead of, y'know our young team that we kind of knew would suck before the year started.

Both teams should be in royal blue, but I don't want them to be clones of each other. The Sabres keep the Gold accent color and the Bills keep the Red accent color. Having the one "Buffalo Blue" is good enough where if you are wearing that color you are identified as a Buffalo sports fan. We wouldn't want all the old nostalgic Bills sweatshirts and gear from the superbowl days to be obsolete because they changed to Blue/Gold. Yuck.

I have a similar problem with my passenger side headlight. Thought it would be an easy fix but once I got the headlight out noticed that the socket was corroded and melted. I was pretty bummed that I needed to order a part and couldn't fix it in one day. Stupid G6 headlight design.

We're not going far in the playoffs if we don't have solid high talent supporting pieces like E Kane/Bogo etc, but i'm not sure he's a keep at all costs/pay whatever it takes guy. That's my definition of core players, and right now it is Eichel/ROR/Reinhart/Risto.

I think the core question is all a matter of how elite the first few of your 'core' guys are. If you have true, no doubt superstars at the top, then the rest of the core guys matter a little less. The further down the top player list your first few guys are, the more the talent in your 4-7 ranked players matter. Hopefully Eichel & co turn out to be as elite as we expect, then the rest of the pieces are much easier to fill. This is what I was thinking. Few top elite guys and the rest are replaceable talent to help manage the cap.

You do remember Liger's early work here right? Early wookie trade proposals? Leino being the #1 center? the concept of Kassian? That's a pretty bold statement qwk, there have been some pretty big swing and misses in this board's history.

Good perspective Claude, but I think you can probably give the same 6-7 point pace bump in the positive direction post trade deadline as a result of building chemistry and understanding of DD system, in addition to improvement from the kids. Last year what really clinched the tank and resulted in a 54pt season was the firesale at the deadline. That isn't happening this year. To follow in Smell's post, you can put me down for 82 or so points. It wouldn't be the Sabres without a late run to 9th place. ;)

The Old Forrester was what my buddy was drinking while I was enjoying the Blanton's. It was a nice pour and he was living it but it certainly had a spicy pepper finish that may not be for everyone. Also damn work computer blocks the whisky thread so I have to post from my phone

My comment was totally tongue in cheek, but a more realistic timeline would be by 2020 in time for the 50th anniversary for the Sabres. Based on my reading of the tea leaves, there is certainly a plan in place by Pegulas they just have not revealed it yet. FWIW - the current headquarters of PSE would be right in between the First Niagara Center and the proposed Perry/Ohio St. location for the new Bills stadium. They didn't choose that location for nothing...
