Thanks. It was my favorite moment from last night's brawl that the whole team was living it up in the hallway back to the locker room. Now I just have to post a bunch in the next 24 hours to claim my territory.

If all you got was an extra wisdom tooth you're probably doing okay considering the alternative... -
Baseball ASG has the benefit of most closely resembling the normal product only with better players. That is why it is more widely viewed than say Football or Hockey ASG's. The sports that rely heavily on a physical component to make the game appear competitive suffer the most, as star players will not risk injury over a meaningless game. To provide an off the wall example of the concept, All Star chess competition would work, an all-star boxing tournament would not.

Very excited to watch my first Sabres game since getting back from my vacation in the Dominican. Apparently the team went on a big winning streak just in time for me to miss a week of watching them. :censored: Hoping to see a strong game from Lehner and continued momentum from the end of game skirmish with the Desert Dogs. Keep up the scoring guys. I don't think it's that quiet. -

I know my comment is nearly a month old, but I thought it was fairly obvious I was being sarcastic. No need to vilify a young kid for a can of dip when we so easily overlook other transgressions in our athletes (hence the ROR comment). It's all about the production level. -
We land in Punta Cana airport at 2:20pm. I doubt you are leaving that late. However good to hear that you're having a good time - I'll be sure to carry the torch for the next week. Yeah we already booked the Colonial Club level room. The couple we're going with didn't due to cost so we'll see how worth it the upgrade is.

Took a new job (internal promotion) today and my vacation to the Dominican Republic starts on Monday - just in time to avoid all of the lake effect snow that the WNY area is expecting.

Where in the DR? Me and my wife are headed to Punta Cana on Monday 1/11 for a week long stay. We will be at the Majestic Colonial for a whole week. It would be crazy to run into a fellow SS'er on a vacation.

That might be the most intriguing line pairings i've seen out of DDB this year. Besides for the obvious hatred of having Schaller (Matt Ellis 2.0) in the lineup, I can get behind these combos. Excited to see it. Haha my point exactly! -
Never thought I would say it when he first came here, but I'm glad. He had a terrible year and the dissenting comments and attitude make it tough to move forward with him.

This is definitely the year you score that midnight kiss. At a minimum you'll dodge the slap this year. Go get em' kid. :nana:

2 years of absolute suckitude is only acceptable to me if we break the cycle of mediocrity. I need to see consistent improvement and playoffs by next year or 2017 at the latest. -

Yeah I read that article this morning and to me the author only had legitimate gripes for 4 or 5 of them. The rest are either incredibly minor or the result of the trilogy. Lazy click-bait article IMO. -

As an aside - I have found that the parents that let their kids learn for themselves and make mistakes tend to have much better adult children than those that have absolute dictator status with their kids. Those are the ones that grow up to be . -
Gah. High deductible plans sound great because you take home more of your pay and are generally accompanied with an HSA, but they really don't protect you when you need your insurance the most - during those major events. Those events are kind of the whole point of having insurance in the first place, innit?

The Reinhart-O'Reilly-McGinn line has been incredibly stable for the past 15 or so games, because it was very effective for a prolonged stretch. I actually think if Ennis didn't get hurt last night, we would have seen the new Eichel line and Kane-Larsson-Ennis stick together for a long time. With the game that they played last night, I don't see how DD breaks up Girgs-Eichel for a while. -
I remember throwing raw eggs at moving cars on Niagara Falls Boulevard as a kid. It was tons of fun for us, but now as an adult I realize if I got an egg on my car I would be pissed and it would be a huge PITA to clean up. Kids are stupid.

I was incredibly happy with the way Bogo played for the last 30 games last season. He may be more comfortable being the huge minutes eater he was last year out of necessity, and is struggling with his reduced role this year. If we can get back Tank-season Bogo I will be pumped.- 456 replies

It's tough to have consistent line combinations when you have injuries to to players like Kane and Ennis as well as many under performers. Somebody has to take the place of the injured player, which changes every line combo. -
Three games in four nights and back to backs against the same team can be tough to keep track of. When I saw the GDT yesterday I thought the board was still discussing Monday's game...

I've heard plenty of stories similar to that where the kid doesn't make much of anything about the swearing/general game atmosphere. The biggest issue is that nowadays the parents try to insulate their kids from everything, when it doesn't really make that much of a difference in the long run. You aren't able to be PC Principal all the time and keep your kid in a bubble, and those projecting that attitude in public places seem to discourage everyone else from having a good time. If you want to insulate your kids in your own home that's fine, but in public it's fair game IMO. -

It could be to teach a strong work ethic and establish how to retrieve the puck and play the dump when teams take away the easy zone entries (i.e. come playoff time when easy zone entries are much harder since you're playing better teams.) It's obviously pretty frustrating to watch, and it can look strange at times, but there is a different optic when there is a long term development plan instead of coaching for their lives. TMGM has publicly stated that this year is more about development than short term gains. I certainly don't like the way the team is performing or play-style up to this point, but without intimate knowledge of what is communicated between coach and GM, it's tough to make a definitive judgement on the first few months of the first post-tank season. So we have what - 12 hours - until we can poke the bear again? :nana: -
This is a far more important discussion. Finding a way to have everyone vote and feel like their vote counts is the biggest challenge to our current republic. I think the biggest deterrent is the antiquated electoral college system which prioritizes importance of votes in Ohio and Florida over New York and Mississippi. It isn't a couple of hundred dollars for the folks in the 40% tax bracket. If they paid the stated rate rather than the current actual effective rate of ~16%, that would mean hundreds of millions of dollars more in taxes collected. That would result in two possible outcomes: 1) More taxes collected means the government has more funding for things like infrastructure or education, things severely lacking in the US compared to our global peers. 2) Ability to lower the tax rates across the board, meaning the average Joe pays less taxes and takes home more of their earned wages. The government would still collect the same net amount in taxes, it would just come proportionally more from those who can afford to pay them. Either of these outcomes sound more like an America I'd like to live in.

I'm willing to bank on the track record of Rex Ryan's teams over the past 10+ years. I know his defense ranks have been weakest in the last three years, but didn't forget everything about coaching defense.
