Got a raise and a promotion (which carries a separate raise) all in the past few weeks. New position starts February 1st, couldn't be more excited. P.s. our HR team still sucks the big one here, but that's a complaint for yesterday.

As an aside, I find it kind of funny that we are so critical of both Lehner's and Ullmark's flopping in the crease, but the greatest goalie we ever had routinely would flop all over the ice to make amazing saves and was cheered for it. Dom really was an amazing goalie.

Considering last year they were one of the lowest scoring teams in history, I would say 20th is quite the improvement. But again, the bottom half of the roster and the injuries have dragged them down.

I always hated it when I was a kid watching the news in the morning since I went to Sweet Home HS, conveniently located alphabetically directly after 1,000 'St. Blah Blah' catholic schools. It was infuriating and I would miss hearing my school all the time cause I would stop paying attention.

Taro - good point, but remember that if you are comparing scorers that way, if we have one guy in each 30 player group, that means we are only keeping up with the average. So the top 5 players we have are allowing us to be ranked ~15th in scoring, not exactly world beaters. I agree that the goal scoring is really struggling for our team once you look past the top line and to the bottom half of our forwards. Those are the guys that are dragging us down to the bottom in scoring pace.

So obviously it was his best game as a Sabre. Not much to argue about in this thread. :nana:

I think this is far more likely than the alternative of him being supplanted as the #1 by Chad Johnson.

I think throughout the GDT, everyone's impression was that Lehner played a strong game and made some very nice saves to keep us in it. From my eyes I thought he stole us a game until that last minute deflection goal. I'm surprised to hear LGR's take that he was positionally shaky.

I do too. This is exactly the kind of buy low type opportunities that have a real positive impact if they hit. It has certainly been GMTM's plan in the past to acquire top ten picks when they become available. Then again, this specific situation seems to have an equal probability of being a total bust. Hence the reduced trade cost.

Right. I'll watch Olympic hockey until i'm blue in the face. Watching the world's best compete and go all out to win is hugely entertaining.

If we can get this version of Bogo back, the one we saw at the end of last season eating up huge minutes, then I will be more than satisfied with the return on this trade. It looks like both Kane and Bogog are coming on strong lately.

This is the first time I've heard this perspective with respect to anticipating exciting events. Very interesting. I will agree that the game has become too dependent on random "puck luck" type plays. Even the best shooters can't seem to beat the goalie cleanly anymore - which is a problem. Noticed that this came from a new poster too - welcome! It's still the same. I hope you brought a wheelbarrow to roll you down Perry to the game after eating that feast.
