  1. Exactly. It has gotten to the point in weapon technology where every citizen having a pistol or hunting rifle will be no match for full-body armor military with assault rifles, chemical weapons, laser sighted bombs, drones, etc. The whole "protection against government military occupation" went out the window around the early 1900's.
  2. Your total for me is wrong. I am at $2,065.
  3. I tired to throw shade on Rob Ray by saying he should host "The One Goal Show" since that is how many goals he scored in his career, but then I looked it up and he scored a whopping 41 goals in his career, with a season high of 8 goals in his second year in 90-91. The more you know...
  4. Oh no doubt. My comment wasn't meant to be specific to Syracuse. But barring some crazy early season upset, i'm not going to tune in to a Syracuse-Holy Cross game where the final ends up being 90-46. I've got better ways to spend my time... ...(like watching the Sabres get blown out 4-1 by the Blues) :bag:
  5. Exactly, the team is currently a collection of skills that in theory and when healthy should be pretty good. Unfortunately, some of these players are far too inconsistent in delivering these skills that it makes it impossible to perform consistently on a nightly basis. Kane shows the ability to do basically everything that we had hoped, he just seems to have no ability to develop any chemistry with any players on the team. He plays like a lone wolf, the kind of kid that is so good in peewees that he can just do it all himself. That works at lower levels but at the NHL level, you need to utilize your teammates and passing concepts to be successful.
  6. Yes indeed, although in typical Orange fashion they play a whole month's worth of cupcake games before the ACC season gets started. I don't really start getting into it until there is a chance they actually lose.
  7. Another 3rd period given away by the Sabres makes me $100 richer in fake money. $1,965 + $100 = $2,065
  8. One unit on the Blues tonight Current balance is $1,965
  9. Like how big are we talking here? All the bananas around here are actually pretty tiny if you ask me. 6 inches max i'd say.
  10. Yeah that same conversation didn't get very far with Mrs. Boyes either. Why marry a doctor in the first place if you can't stay home and play with the dogs all day?! (Obviously kidding :) )
  11. It has nothing to do with Josie being a girl. It has everything to do with your tone and dismissive attitude to everyone else. Not all of us are fortunate enough to have everything go right in their lives like apparently you have. A little perspective is fine - yes it's better to have a job than to be homeless or selling your body to feed your kids - but let's not denigrate others for trying to improve their standing in life while sharing that struggle with the community.
  12. Exactly. I would say that WildCard and my life standing are not dissimilar, so I don't appreciate being painted in such a broad brush as a granola eating hipster millennial. Just like you don't want to be lumped in with the racist hard-ass general laborers of the prior generation.
  13. Hank - I'm going to speak for Josie on this one, but you can F### right off with that. This is a place to share our communal experiences and frustrations, and to openly reject and criticize Josie for sharing makes you part of the problem. Josie has been struggling with this conversation for a long time and her bosses truly are uncaring P.O.S. and you give a drive by commentary. She works in an openly toxic environment and is leaving a poorly managed company of her own volition, so she isn't some whiny millennial looking for a handout and a hug.
  14. Given the nature of the late call up and ROR being a late scratch, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an emergency call-up. We are running out of warm bodies in the AHL though... :(
  15. Please no. There should be no reason our schools are teaching anything about creationism and gods in science class. We are already painfully under-educated compared to our first world peers, let's not make it worse.
  16. Sorry to hear that Swamp. I hope you and your family get the care you need. Your situation is a great indication of the point I was trying to make upthread. There are situations where a small percentage of the population is greatly impacted by policy decisions and politics in general. It's important to keep these real examples in perspective when the rest of us (who may not have any skin in the game so to speak) are opining on policy and the direction the country should move towards.
  17. Fudge... Now at $1,965. Been on a bit of a cold streak after a hot start.
  18. Given the drastic tone of his speech yesterday, I have a feeling you may be right - or at least it may be possible. Still am scared sh!tless in the short term based on recent campaign promises, but I think it is entirely possible he pulled the wool over the eyes of the Republican base to get elected when the opportunity presented itself. If his tone continues to change in the 3 months leading up to inauguration day, my pessimism will dwindle significantly. EDIT: Also to add, if this is in fact the case, it would be great for the alignment of the parties as a whole. The Republican party will be forced to re-invent itself and modernize and become more centrist/libertarian and abandon some of the older bible-thumping type messages of the past. Same thing with the Democrats moving away from the same rehearsed political party lines and more towards what the younger demographics are demanding, especially given the strong Bernie Sanders support.
  19. Because for some folks, especially lgbt+ and minorities, the election truly boils down to one issue since that will have the most positive or adverse effect on their lives. For them the racist/sexist comments carry a lot of weight. But for the others that are not in those categories, those folks may be more willing to overlook those statements because a different issue or talking point is key to them. If Trump's stance or percieved stance is more aligned with their views than Clinton's, then the vote goes there. Each voter has a unique set of priorities that determines their choice.
  20. Remember who Romney was running against. I think that is your answer.
  21. But who is going to play as the center on the #2 PP? Who?!?
  22. I know. :bag: I have 4 tickets I bought for friends at the beginning of the year for next Thursday's game at STH prices, and the friends we bought the tickets for bailed. I can't find anyone that wants to go to the game with us paying anywhere close to what we bought them for. Ended up planning on taking my wife's family for free and taking a bath on the ticket costs. Super annoying.
  23. While I agree the phone polling is a dinosaur and inaccurate, if the pollsters were to somehow utilize social media that would certainly skew towards the millennials (who even in the election were a landslide win for Democrats). My only shred of hope is that the Donald Trump we saw over the last year+ was a caricature of what he needed to do to win as a Republican nominee (motivate the far right conservatives); and now that he has actually won, he will revert to his pre-candidacy views of being centrist/liberal. What if he turns out to be a great president as a liberal leaning Republican...? Mind Blown.
  24. So it smells... better now?
