1. Deslauriers. He has shown all the things we have wanted from a forward for a long time. Adding more skill to the bottom 6 is going to put him in a position to succeed. 2. The goalies. Short of icing a team as skilled as chicago the goalies will determine how good or bad we are. 3. Zadorov. Because I love me a defenseman star. He checks all the boxes on my ultimate defenseman list. If he can put it all together in the nhl. We will do as pegula commanded and win cups in the plural

i voted other. My vote was for Hasek. I base this on the following. The single greatest hockey player I have ever watched play was number 39. Older people talk about how amazing gilbert was and him being the greatest player. To me this is nonsense. The greatest was Hasek. He alone got the sabres points in the standings, he alone won playoff games and playoff series. he was voted the best in the league not only at his position but overall twice. Now that I have built him up it is time to tear him down. This is a player that had quit on his team multiple times and he was not just any player when he did this. He was the player the whole team was built around. If the locker room rumors are to be trusted he was not just one of the players dividing the team and front office he was one of the central players. On top of that he leveraged the team to trade him so far below market value that it was laughable how little they got in return and helped sent the team into a rebuld without much in the way of a return. This is the greatest sabre to wear the uniform, one of the best players ever, and arguably the greatest goalie ever. What did that get the sabres? 1 game six in the finals within 8 years. Looking back I would never of thought Hasek would only get us one shot at a cup

to thous that have shared their personal struggles or the struggles of others in this thread I just wanted to wish you all well and to thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I know it is not always easy to talk about such things and it is something I know i can not do as I am much to private and internal when it comes to talking about such things. I have been saying for awhile that mental health issues are tragically underfunded and it needs to start getting the kind of funding that other "feel good" diseases get. instead we have kept it in the dark and in the corner where the sufferers can feel ashamed and lost. If there is one thing I am taking as a positive from this latest tragedy is this one seems to have rattled the masses and made them worried. If someone as seemingly happy and energetic as Robin Williams can suffer this badly what could that mean for the rest of them. I just hope this current state of sharing and being open about depression is not just another flash in the pan. I hope we as a society will use this as a spring board to make some real change in health care and fund the research to help understand and treat the people that are in need of our help.

I just want to point out that this is very very similar to what drane was saying about the previous gm/coach. I am not saying there is not different ways to build a winner in the nfl. But no position has more of an effect on other positions the way qb does. As qb performance increases less is needed across the board to win

100% agree, have good to great qb play or go home

I think the Islers are going to be either front runners most of the season or basement dwellers most of the season. I just can't decide which extreme it will be. They had a few players that had really good seasons and I am guessing they will tumble back to norms this year. On the other hand they did add some decent players upfront and on paper Halek is a upgrade. But the defense is lacking and Halek hasn't been what people would call a game changer. We have seen what other teams loaded up on forward but with little D do and generally it isn't pretty. If the defense can play good enough to force easy saves for Halek and play clean enough to get the forwards the puck they could be very good........... But I have a hard time believing it will happen
