  1. Well, they aren't going to cancel games, so ...
  2. No data. But he didn't participate in yesterday's practice. As there was no morning skate today, no info on whether he would've participated.
  3. At this point cynically wondering if the guys that would likely be going to the Olympics are realizing just how big of a deal a 5 week quarantine in Beijing truly is and just how possible/likely that would be and whether the PA might be pushing behind the scenes for this measure to have a "face saving" excuse to skip the Olympics. Can't see any way at this point for the league to participate in the Olympics unless the unplayed games end up canceled rather than postponed.
  4. Don't believe the BJs care about the Sabres competitive advantages nor disadvantages, but they're right in the mix w/ Detroit & the B's for the last WC. Losing 2 to a bottom feeder like the Sabres could put a serious crimp into that playoff drive. Get that no morning skates was the league's idea. Expecting not flying last night was Columbus' & not necessarily for as virtuous a reason as they'll claim. Realize it's a cynical take, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily wrong. (Doesn't necessarily mean it's right either.)
  5. Cynically am curious if the BJs would've been so willing to postpone the next couple/few games if Jenner & Roslovic weren't 2 of the 3 guys out.
  6. Surprised to see this GDT pop back up. The game stunk, but yours truly got a free shirt on the jumbotron, so it was all OK in the end. 😉 And it was the biggest crowd of the year because Roswell gave out a ton of tickets. Minus those, it would've been another typical Monday attendance. (And, no, currently no personal ties to Roswell at present.)
  7. Expected, but still a bummer. Was looking forward to Tuch's debut.
  8. Don't know about that. There'll still be Mittelstadt to kick around. Usually only need two whipping boys and w/ Dahlin not going anywhere they should be covered on that front.
  9. The NFC's even more jumbled. 15 teams are either in a playoff spot or "in the hunt." Basically, everybody but Detroit could still make it after 14 games have been played. Which is nuts but what the NFL wants.
  10. He's a local kid & a (non-prototypical) top 6 power forward. 2 things this team pretty much lacks. As with all new toys, the anticipation mounts. Especially when it didn't arrive until nearly Christmas even though the parents hinted that's what we're getting for a couple of months. So, yeah, he probably won't live up to the anticipation, but he's a good player that'll push a JAG out of the lineup. Well, assuming Thompson plays tonight that is. (And presuming the BJs actually make the trip.)
  11. Condolences to both of you & your families.
  12. It's crueler to saddle him w/ Skinner & a rookie, you sadist. 😉
  13. Believe it's possible. They need to have at least 1 D-man that will stand up for his teammates & Fitzgerald fits that bill. If he's in the lineup, to get Bryson in the lineup, they are going extremely young bumping the vet out of the lineup &/or having somebody on their off-hand playing w/ the rookie. What's you're expectation?
  14. Pierre-Luc Dubois (the guy they got for Laine) & Kyle Connor.
  15. Considering Jokiharju & Okposo seemed flat-footed, think that Eakin might have seen nobody lined up behind Carter & got a wild hare.
  16. The survey definitely nailed #1 though.
  17. Deliberate or instinctual, does it matter? He also said that that swinging of his glove hand behind his back is something he does. (Had never noticed it, haven't seen many of his games, but will be looking for it.) It was a great save. It wasn't Bill Hajt saving Sauve's bacon in game 3 by getting turned into the crease w/ both arm on the crossbar after avoiding taking Sauve out & then having the puck hit him in the butt staying out of the net.
  18. Shiv the mofo. No, not really. Sorry you've got to deal w/ a neighbor like that. Not sure if it's feasible, but maybe if there is a neighbor she gets along with, you could ask that person to go w/ you to get the cat back. If there's someone she gets along w/ it MIGHT lessen her defensiveness & lessen how much of a (choose whatever word appropriate here) she wants to be seen as in the encounter. Good luck w/ it.
  19. True. Thought it was post/crossbar watching it live. Amazingly, Subban admitted he thought that as well & that the rap on his glove was due to an opponent's stick & not the puck. If that ISN'T the best save of the year, somebody rigged the voting. That was truly Hasek-esqe. Darn shame it wasn't in the MMArena; that's the sort of save people tell their grandkids about & it should've been the fans of the good guys getting to say that they were actually there when it happened.
  20. He does, & do hope he sticks. He brings some attributes that are sorely lacking. But his emergence brings up the question of whether management sees next year's D-corps in house &/or the NCAA right now w/ no other external additions. Could see them thinking Dahlin-Jokiharju Samuelsson-Fitzgerald Power-Pysyk w/ Bryson & somebody as the spares & Johnson in Ra-cha-cha waiting for an injury to be on the 3rd pairing as good enough. Especially w/ the goal being to really start to compete seriously that following season. They've got the cap space moving forward to sign any & all of their UFA's & RFA's that they want to retain for at least 3-4 more years. Really think they need 1-2 GOOD stay at home D brought in this summer, but not sure management agrees on that point. They'll definitely bring in AAAA level guys to round out Ra-cha-cha, but not sure they want to "block" the kids when being in the mix is likely viewed as good enough for year 2 of the plan. From a casual view, they seem to be emulating the Canes approach, and at this stage they weren't really bringing in outsiders to be near the top of the depth chart. (Someone that followed them closer like @Randall Flagg please correct that if mistaken.)
  21. Have been pleasantly surprised by his & Jokiharju's play since being reunited. Don't recall a single odd-man rush they've given up which was their most glaring flaw in the past. They still have issues in their own end at times, but with getting competent goaltending they aren't compounding the issues by running around until everything is chaos which typically results in a goal against. 4 games seems to be the usual shelf life for Dahlin & X being effective, so the Columbus game will be interesting, but with their history maybe they'll be able to keep this rolling. When they had to start putting Butcher back into the lineup, would not have broken up the Dahlin Pysyk pairing as it was working fairly well. But Pysyk has been their steadiest D-man, so it made sense to put him w/ the shakiest if they weren't going to be matching D-pairings. Once again, it looks like Granato knows what he's doing and his patience may pay off. IF this pairing can keep from going back to where they were - overtrying to create offense and instead can remain solid, that would change the calculus of what needs to be brought in over the summer. Still believe they need a couple of vets on the D unit to steady it, but maybe they can get away w/ just 1.
  22. It also doesn't account for the possibility of a team that would've gotten that break getting an outbreak during February & then having to squeeze 2 extra weeks of games into the remainder of the season. ('Cause, no, that wouldn't be the Sabre-iest thing to happen to the boys this season, so of course the league will do it that way.)
